For anyone still believing we have no picks left lmao

  1. This is why I always laugh when I hear haters say that the Lakers “traded away their future” for Lebron/AD. We literally only have 2 picks that we don’t own in the next decade, have a lot of seconds, and have AD signed long-term as well as Rui, Reaves, Vando, and Vincent as guys in their 20s on multi-year deals. This team is not going to be “destroyed” once Lebron retires

People saying we don’t have assets, I mean do we have 12 1sts that are likely to become 2nds? No lol but we have 3 1sts to trade and 3 swaps with some pretty moveable/workable contracts. If Dlo opts in, we’d actually have a really solid package for anyone who could hit the market. An expiring, a solid role player or two, and 3 1sts? That’s a great deal.

If Dlo opts out, we lose an expiring but still have solid role guys on mostly solid deals. If anyone hits the market, we should be players.

Please push these chips in for some impact player that can help win right now. The Mavericks went from the 8th seed at the deadline to in the Finals by cashing picks in for two 2-way players. Do right by how great Lebron and AD are or blow it up. There shouldn’t be an in between.

People are fucking stupid. Got tired of trying to argue it with the idiots at r/nba that know zilch about basketball

I really think Utah is our best trading partner – giving them full access to that 27 pick is a big bonus. Lauri is the dream but Sexton is good too.

Seems like this implies another 2 years of championship runs before blowing it up. Honestly it seems much better to do that vs. try for mediocrity if it becomes crystal clear we can’t do it with the current iteration of the team. We’re in a good spot, and definitely much better than teams like the Suns etc. who have no picks whatsoever outside of this year.

  7. Will keep saying it, as long as Lakers don’t go crazy and give up all the swaps too there really is no issue trading all the actual picks to go all in with Lebron for 2 more years. The key years for post-Lebron (assuming he plays 2 more seasons) are ’27/28. Just hold onto that ’28 swap and you’re kinda positioned just in case you go down that worst case “blow it up” scenario. I really see no downside to trading the picks. It doesn’t effect the team’s ability to rebuild post-Lebron.

Problem with the later year assets is, they’re worth less in a present day trade, and the risk profile is much higher.

I think there was an article that interviewed gms regarding picks, and the consensus is that a lot of those 5+ year away picks don’t matter to gms since a lot of them won’t be around to see the picks bear fruit.

Everyone lies about the lakers picks, but don’t let that distract you from what wolves or clippers gave up. Go check how bad the pg trade looks now since Shais also a mvp candidate and better then pg
