[Dumas] SDSU & Arizona alum, Keshad Johnson will workout for the Golden State Warriors on June 3rd. The Oakland native has seen his draft buzz rise since the combine. His 42” max vertical leap was the top one there. 6”8, can guard multiple positions. Shot 39% from deep last season.

Sounds like a great prospect for us in round 2!!!

About 6’6 barefoot at the combine, 6’10+ wingspan. His defense would be really nice, pretty versatile on that end (can play on-ball, good off-ball, athletic/strong enough to guard up/down the lineup), but his 39% from 3 may be an outlier.

He was under 33% the 4 seasons before that, though they’re all in a different system and on low attempts (like, sub one 3pt shot per game). Maybe he just needed a change of scenery and a bigger sample size? Jumped up to 4 attempts this recent year, but his FT has been steadily mid so I’m not holding my breath (71% this year on 4FTA, 65% and 64% the two seasons prior, both also on about 4FTA).

Has the build to play wing/forward, though I assume he’s more of a forward given the iffy shooting? Pretty good rebounder, pair that with his athleticism and defense (should be actually able to handle POA, and he’s strong/tall enough to switch), and yeah, that’s the makeup of an NBA player. Will be difficult if his 5th year 3ball doesn’t translate, but he’s strong/explosive enough to at least be a decent finisher around the rim.

Ain’t gonna find anyone perfect at 52, but I do like a lot of the player-types they’ve been bringing in for workouts. Hard to complain about Keshad in the late 2nd, think he could carve out a nice role, especially if the plan is for him to slowly take over GP2’s role (but as someone +4in taller)

He’s someone I’d really want. Has a Swiss army type vibe to him.

As an SDSU alum I watched almost every game he played in our 22-23 season. Our offense isn’t conductive to enabling scorers to really thrive, every game we’re in is a rock fight.

When he transferred to U of A and got to play in a faster paced, flowing offense he got more opportunities to show off his play making abilities.

Personally having an Aztec and Oakland native on the dubs would be a dream for me and I would instantly purchase his jersey. I do think with Kuminga on the team he’s essentially redundant although I think KJ would be a better defender than JK immediately.

Ultimately I don’t think he’s what this team needs: a big who can stretch the floor and protect the rim(also something that won’t be available at pick 52…)

If he’s there or we cash out to move up a few picks he’d be as good of a pick as any at that point in the back end of the draft.
