Embiid is not a great leader. I’m sure he has the respect of the locker room but he isn’t the guy that will rally the troops when needed.

People see the numbers and don’t understand Maxey’s strengths. He’s like the second best off-ball player in the league now, behind Steph and that’s how he’s been so efficient even with increasing his ppg.

But he’s not the shot creator a lot of the other top guards are, and a lot more limited as a playmaker when he has to be the main engine. It makes him a great fit with Joel, but it also means that he’s not a guy we can build a team around, and we realistically need a 3rd star level offensive creator this offseason. That way we can still have Tyrese off ball without Joel playing off PG / Jimmy / Bron somehow.

If we just build this team with role players like Dallas did, we’d be doomed to eventually lose in the playoffs at some stage regardless. We need a third star

and the REAL flaming hot take I have is if we trade Joel, we probably should trade Tyrese as well (doesnt have to be immediately, but within 1-2 yrs to maximize our return). I think we’d just become the Dame blazers at best (and Dame showed to be a better engine earlier in his career), or some version of the Kemba Hornets at worst. At that point, I’d just want to bottom out completely hoping some dude like Wemby comes around again

I rather have Paul George than Jimmy. I feel he spaces the floor more and is a better off ball player. Plus we don’t have to give up anything other than money. We don’t need him to carry the team we need him to contribute as a 3rd option which he would.

I understand the want for additional talent, but they were already the sixth or seventh worst defensive rebounding team in the league and adding Jimmy Butler and Paul George will only make that much worse, especially when Embiid isn’t on the floor.

Can’t build anything great around an often injured player. Plus Embiid has some other flaws too, especially the space he takes up off ball. That hurt Ben, maybe ruined his developmental years.
