The Charlotte Hornets Might Actually be GOOD Next Year…

the Charlotte Hornets have been terrible flat out horrific since like 1992 but hopefully as you can see record this year awful hopefully we’re trending in the right direction we’re starting to make some correct decisions we’ve got our new franchise player and Brandon Miller Steve Clifford is stepping down and we’ve got our new head coach in Charles Lee who is coming from that Boston Celtics organization that has been very successful they just haven’t quite won the big one but they’re in the NBA finals this year with a 64 and 18 record almost the complete opposite of ours um so we hopefully he can bring some of that winning attitude towards Charlotte but the big things we got to do this offseason our first extend miles Bridges is going to look like somewhere in the neighborhood of four years hundred million this is a guy that averaged 21 points per game 7.3 rebounds 3.3 assists in 37 minutes a game and of course he missed the first 10 games of the season but after that he was pretty Dependable couple 40 bombs in there he shot at 46% from the field which is very nice 4 or 35% from three not great on five attempts but you know he it’s up 2% so if he goes up 2% in a couple more years he’ll be close to 40% that’s that’s progress that’s what we love to see like I said next year I’d love to see it in like the 38% range which is kind of average in today’s NBA but still if he can continue to bring that up very good season for Miles Bridges um and like I said we have our new franchise player Brandon Miller until lamelo can prove that he can stay healthy for an extended period of time in my opinion Brandon Miller is that guy he averaged 17.3 points 4.3 rebounds and 2 2.4 assist as well as a steal per game as a rookie this year and showed signs that he was going to take over this franchise 44% from the field 37% from three not great efficiency numbers but for a rookie Wing that’s pretty good per 36 he averaged 2 and5 with two and a half assists per game just a great score overall and a guy that can get on a heater real quick uh now the lamelo problem we talked about this earlier he played 22 games this year and that is not good whatsoever he averaged 24 points per game which is pretty solid uh eight assists six rebounds two steals but he took a lot of shots um taking some shots away from Brandon Miller who I think is probably our best scorer I’d like to see lamelo as more of that point guard role but you know he can get his buckets whenever he wants and remember this Elite 10 game streak that he had in like the middle of November when he was actually healthy where he put up 32 a night with eight assists six rebounds and shot 44% from the field if he’s doing that by all means he’s a franchise player but like I said he’s played 21 games this year and he barely played at all last year um now there have been some stars in the past in the NBA with ankle problems the first and probably the most famous being Mr Stephen Curry who in his third year in the league only played 26 games which is a few more than lamelo played in his third year and you know he ended up not being that bad I mean greatest shooter in the history of the NBA year four he averaged 23.7 assists on 45% shooting from the field 45% from three so hopefully lamelo can take after his footsteps a little bit um he has had some off the court ISS issues I mean the Hornets have just had straight off the court issues lately um and he ran over a kid’s foot you know that’s kind of debatable whether that’s his fault or not y’all can argue about that in the comments if you want but we we got to stay off the news for doing bad stuff Charlotte come on now um now the other injury Merchant is Mark Williams who played 19 games this year if this core 4 could stay healthy that is a really good core for young core that’s growing together they just can’t stay healthy average 13 points Tim boards a block of steel in 27 minutes a game and you know he kind of reminds me of like a Rudy gobear type but more skilled offensively better touch honestly he kind of reminds me of Derrick Lively except taller and longer if I mean that’s crazy to think about but that’s what Mark Williams is both Duke products both great around the rim great great getting into position and can you know protect the rim he only played 19 games this year though as a 22-year-old shot at 65% from the field so he’s just got to stay healthy lamelo’s got to stay healthy if those two guys can stay healthy and everybody else does I like I like us next year make sure to the like button leave me a comment down below and hit that subscribe button if you did enjoy today’s video at any point as you can see here a large majority of the people that watch these videos are not subscribed to the channel so if that is you go ahead and fix that also we’re trying to hit 150 likes on today’s video big like go let’s see if we can do it and with that being said let’s go and get back to the video looking at the draft this year and y’all can flame me if you won’t I won dton connect I think he fits him beautifully to this lineup providing floor spacing and he’s more than just a shooter that’s the stereotype on him is he’s just a shooter great explosion off of two feet he can go either way he’s a scoring machine he averaged 22 this year in college five rebounds two assists and that is with other teams defense is ex really keying in on on him because he’s all that Tennessee had 6 foot6 210 pounds so he’s got a great frame for the NBA great strength like I said great athleticism people don’t you know they look at oh sneaky athleticism CU he’s white no he’s got great athleticism especially off two feet 46% shooting from the field 40% from three if you leave him open he’s going to make you pay high release point I really like him Reed Shepard another guy I like although I see him as more of a point guard so I don’t know how the fit would work there but a great shooter great defender would love to have Reed people are saying Donovan kingan I don’t see us taking another big um Reay or Cody Williams if connect is off the board then I wouldn’t mind to Cody Williams if Ray Falls to us at six oh my goodness that would be the greatest thing that ever happened to Charlotte um don’t connect if we get any of these shooters here connect um McCain Reed I think they fit great alongside lamelo ball um yes you know maybe people won’t like a Stefan Castle to add another great defender alongside lamelo and just let miles Melo and Brandon be our scores um people are also saying like a Rob Dillingham but I don’t like that too much I like do connect I wouldn’t hate like a Stefan Castle to come in and clamp but he he’s said he wants to be a point guard at the next level so we’ll see how all that works out now there was a major bench revamp at the deadline we sent all three of these guys out got some picks and got guys back like Trey man who I think is GNA be a big part of our bench this year as well as Nick Richards there and then Grant Williams who unfortunately went from the Celtics to the Mavericks to the Hornets so couple of one of those teams is not like the other but we freed up a crazy amount of money we also have two great rotation pieces now in meic and Trey man rotation guards I should say Seth Curry is there as well Trey man good on both sides of the ball he averaged 12 points 5.2 assists 4.5 rebounds and he just finally got it a chance to play and prove himself he was he’s athletic with the ball in open court 45% shooting from the field 36% from three almost 37 um 3.8 attempts as a 22y old so overall like not not the greatest efficiency season but I was very impressed with what I saw from Trey man after the deadline meic another guy here that I think we should keep in Charlotte if we do move on from him not the end of the world but we have a backup point guard for the first time since like Tony Parker it feels like 11 points six assist if y’all remember the Tony Parker Charlotte days y’all are true OG’s we add that on to the you know the other couple of bench guys we got Grant Williams averaged 14 points five rebounds three assists in 30 minutes last year I mean the big problem was the bench was just non-existent and then by the time we did fix the bench they all had to start because all the starters were hurt 50% shooting from the field for Grant Williams 37% from three on four attempts still 25 years old so still plenty of time plenty of Youth left in those legs um Davis Burtons Alex pusi both these guys maybe could be getting some rotation minutes next year Burton’s a sniper from Deep 38% on six attempts average nine points poku average 7.4 points 4.4 rebounds 19 minutes a game and then we also got Nick Smith Jr who I think was one of the steals of last year’s draft didn’t get you know although he had all the opportunity didn’t get a great chance to show that off last year only playing 14 minutes a game bouncing back and forth from the g- league but he was a former number one overall recruit for a reason 43% shooting from the field 87% from the free throw line I think he’s a guy that can really impact us down the line and the big key the big X Factor next year is to just stay healthy if we get connect and this is our starting five I love this you add shooting to lamelo Brandon and miles and then you got Mark Williams down low if he can stay healthy that’s a great starting five I think that’s a starting five that compete for a playoff spot in the east in the west not so much but in the East if we don’t get connected if we go elsewhere we can move Trey man into that starting shooting guard spot I don’t know how don’t know how well he fits but you know you look at Mees if we get like a Cody Williams I’d love that um Cody Martin Grant Williams there Off the Bench you and then we also got you know a few other guys we can throw into the rotation there some veterans finally with Davis Berton Nick Smith Jr a young Wing that maybe could make an impact next year I think he could be an X-Factor or a sleeper next year y’all let me know your thoughts though down in the comment section below make sure the like button like I said we’re trying to hit 150 likes on today’s video and hit that subscribe button it’d be greatly appreciated and with all that being said thanks so much for watching today’s video

  1. I don’t know if we should consider Williams part of the core. I think he’s projected to be a back up center at best they can get an upgrade.
