[Siegel] The Toronto Raptors are another team to keep an eye on regarding Kuzma as they look to move swingman Bruce Brown this offseason. Masai Ujiri and the Raptors’ front office have always made their intentions of retooling their roster instead of rebuilding it prominent.

doubtful. Raptors are not spending draft capital to bring in a secondary option like Kuzma when they don’t even have a 1st option yet (barring further Scottie development).

    > Going out and bringing in Kuzma to pair with Immanuel Quickley and RJ Barrett would certainly reflect this notion.

found it funny Scottie wasn’t even mentioned here lol

  2. I’m not sure how much I hate this.

It might only be a little bit. He’s not bad, and his contract is OK.

My only worry is cost. Does Brown plus 31 get it done? Anything more than that, and I start to get nervous.

Now, if we’re trying to pull the guts out of Washington, I wouldn’t mind throwing some draft capital at Deni. Unlikely, but it’d be great to have him rounding out the starters.

Masai bout to trade 2 unprotected FRPs 🔥🔥🔥🔥

Worth noting: Back when Project 6’9 was more prominent, Kyle Kuzma was amongst the most commonly rumored trade targets – and Kuzma did reciprocate at least on social media ie talking up the Raptors when it looked like they might force a Game 7 in that Sixers/Raptors season

    Also other news from @GregSwartzBR:

“The Toronto Raptors’ plan to get younger around Scottie Barnes and add more shooting should continue this summer,” Swartz wrote. “Patrick Williams would be an intriguing target to pursue.

“Since Williams is able to play and defend either forward position, putting him next to Barnes in the frontcourt would give Toronto a big, versatile combination years away from their respective primes. Toronto would need to make Williams a sizable offer for Chicago not to match an offer sheet in restricted free agency, or the two sides could agree to a sign-and-trade.”

Think this just goes off that BR report tho earlier not sure

Lol a 29 year old who’s never cracked 55% TS and is a negative defender is absolutely the last player we should be trading for. Also Siegel’s not an insider, he’s just saying this because Kuzma matches Bruce Brown’s salary.

  7. kyle_993

Siegel really isn’t a source I trust but I can definitely understand us looking at Kuzma. He’s a good shooter with size. I just think we need a better on ball defender on the wing beside Scottie than a guy like Kuzma.

  8. brown_boognish_pants

Good god not him. Anyone but him. Give us Poole before him.

  9. ttttyttt678

Fuck no, Wizards want a lot for him. Unless it’s essentially Bruce for Kuzma I’m good. Don’t want to add anything on top of Bruce to get a 29 year old Kuzma.

why do we keep doing this? its like masai does not want to tank period. Eventually u need high lottery talent . u cant keep building around low picks in hopes they turn into something.Thank god we got scottie

Raps are only interested in Kuzma for salary cap/draft pick trade pieces. The top levels of the NBA business shit is unpredictable. They are like needing top level security clearance in the military. Never really know

  12. YokedBrah

Hard pass on Kuzma lol unless it’s coming off the bench for us then sure…

  13. FalseZookeepergame15

If this has any modicum of truth, then the FO hasn’t learned their lesson. Kyle Kuzma is not the piece you go for.

  14. Big_Albatross_3050

I mean in theory this is a great trade. He’s a pretty good player who’s value is at an all time low atm, with few seriously interested suiters rn due to contract length and them already having good replacements.

But on the flip side, the fit here is a bit iffy, largely because this is a win-now trade contenders make, which the Raps aren’t considering we don’t know if BBQ core will take a big enough step to be contenders, even if there’s a good shot they make the playoffs.

Like I wouldn’t be opposed to the idea of trading for Kuzma, but also I feel like committing that much cap and term to him isn’t the smartest use of the current abundance in capspace.

  15. Unless it’s a straight up swap then no.

With how the new CBA works you NEED to have players that contribute on cheap contracts or rookie contracts. We can’t be trading picks for mediocre players who are not part of our long term plan. The entire point of trading OG and Pascal is to bottom out and give the reigns to Scottie. If we’re trading for fking Kuzma why not just keep Pascal?

Our trio of Scottie/RJ/IQ will be making a LOT of money after next season. If this is the core we want to roll with then we need cheap players that can fill certain roles and have an impact.

The only reason we won in 2019 was because we had Pascal, OG and Fred on rookie contracts who were vastly overperforming compared to how much they were paid. That was the reason why we were good in 2020 as well because we had Pascal, Fred and OG making a combined 15M.
