Never liked Dejounte Murray even tho he fried us that beginning of the year, maybe i just never watched enough of him

We’d be getting fleeced.

Pass.
Murray and Trae can’t coexist well because they both need the ball on his hands. If we are going to get another guard, we need someone who is great off-ball. Conley often plays off-ball for us and he can do both so he’s flexible. Murray needs the ball in his hands so I don’t want him next to Ant

I don’t think it’s the worst idea if we get Brogdan.
I just don’t see Kat winning, I love the dude but he demands too much of a teams cap and some how ends up a role player in the playoffs.
Strangely reminds me of Dlo (obviously he’s way better than him) where when it’s working it looks amazing but when it doesn’t it looks bad and cost the team, and there seems to be more bad then good when it matters.
I honestly don’t know about Murray but if Tim Connley makes a move I’ll support it.
I’ll also would be fine with running it back.

Whos beating us if we can get Dejounte and Bogdan?Wed be getting 2 of our biggest needs a Pg who can get his own and a 6’5 shooter who can also put it on the ground

I’ve seen us linked to both of Atlanta’s point guards who are both available Trae is the more clutch player which is something we badly need. Kat is the only player on our team to hit a game tying or game winning shot at the buzzer this past season. Kat was 1-6 on such opportunities. Trae is one of the most clutch players in the league, and one of the best lob passers in the league which would come in handy with Rudy. Trae however is one the worst defenders in the league, and he takes some pretty terrible shots. The other guard Murray never made sense for Atlanta as he takes the ball out of Young’s hands. Murray was considered a really good defender in San Antonio but hasn’t helped Atlanta at all defensively. The addition of Murray didn’t add wins to Atlanta from the previous years. When Trae missed 22 games this year Murray did average 26.5, 8.9 assists while Atlanta’s defense improved greatly.

A little off topic from this trade post.
Someone correct me if I’m wrong, preemptive h/t to /u/PlayInChampions he usually knows, but KAT can be currently traded right now so long as the salary traded for is guaranteed for next season.
I don’t expect a team to trade for KAT, but if so wouldn’t trading for him prior to the clock chiming into the new league year? Like until July 1 he’s still eligible to be traded at 36 million as opposed to 49 million?
If so we’re going to get clarification on KAT sooner than later with a little less than a month before the new league year.

As far as hypothetical trades go, this is FAR from the worst. I still don’t like it, but some of the proposals have been loony tunes.
One major issue with a lot of these deals — I don’t think this even gets the team out of the 2nd apron (KAT is scheduled to make 49 million, and Murray+ Bogdan is right around 43). Technically, they’d probably be under, but in the process of filling out the required roster spots you’re probably back over it. So you’re effectively dealing KAT just to reshuffle the roster.
Not to mention, the team would be painfully thin at the big man spot. You’d have Rudy, Naz, and then Minott/Miller/Garza(?). You almost have to bring back SloMo at that point, which then costs you even MORE money.
The only types of deals that make much sense to me is swapping KAT for someone like Garland, who is not only able to help you save a bit of money, but also helps you extend the timeline by getting someone close to Ant’s age (unlike Murray and Bogdanovic who are right around if not older than KAT’s age).

This is the best trade imaginable. Sorry for people being massive homers but KAT is not worth 49-61 million for the next 4 years. Getting Murray to keep the defense oriented approach to the team while not having ANT to be the primary handler is something we desperately need. Bogdan also keeping our 3 pt % respectable and give us some exterior presence that we do sacrifice a bit with KAT gone. Biggest thing is the contract length. Bogdan and Murray being on the books for the next 3 years (and Bogdan going down in value over time too) makes it absolutely worthwhile if we’re looking at being both competitive right now covering the holes we have along with securing success for the next seasons to come. I have yet to hear a good argument for why this trade shouldn’t happen (I’ve wanted this the second we got bounced).KAT value didn’t tank because of the last 2 game win Dallas production wise, but paying someone super max money who let’s be real has one of the dumbest fucking basketball IQs and having 2 massive injuries the past 2 seasons (we can’t take for granted that he had a freak meniscus recovery) and who’s stock is going to be on one of the worst contracts is something we need to rip the bandaid off of and address now before we get high off of our own supply of “he’s gonna be even better next year”.

I don’t think I want to trade KAT. I just don’t think any of the deals I’ve seen make us better. This is the only rumor that intrigues me. Murray is an elite defender if he puts his mind to it. Watching a Murray, Ant, NAW, Jaden, Rudy defensive lineup would be really fun. Murray can also create his own shot, which would relieve some pressure off Ant. And getting a clutch shooter like Bogdan would be another life for a team that lacked consistent shooting.
We’d lose out on size and have to hope we could draft somebody to develop or hope Miller or Garza can develop further. It’s weird, I think this deal helps us beat Dallas, but makes us worse against Denver. They’re both big players in the West now.
