Keeping The 16th Pick Might Be The Move…
one of the biggest questions of the Sixers off season is what should they do with the 16th overall pick the easy answer is trade the pick for win now talent but one of the most overpowered things from a team building perspective is having an impactful young player on a cheap contract for years to come for example last draft the Dallas Mavericks drafted Derek Lively with the 12th pick he’s only making $5 million next season with a team option the year after after that where they will likely decline it and sign him long term the heat also drafted ham hakz late in the first round and he ended up playing in 75 games for them while averaging 12 points per game they now have him for years to come on a cost controlled $3.6 million contract how about the Golden State Warriors Brandon Poky and Trace Jackson Davis both played meaningful minutes and looked like Elite highend tier role players those two may be the reason the Warriors are able to compete again if they make the right other moves this off season or what about two years ago when the Nuggets drafted Christian Brown as the 21st pick he ended up playing 16 minutes per game in the NBA Finals versus the Heat being one of their most impactful role players Off the Bench in that series shout out Derek Bodner for breaking this down the max number of first round picks the Sixers can trade this summer is five if they draft a player at 16 which is their best opportunity to actually hit on someone they still will have four other picks to trade and if I’m the other team on a call with the Sixers I’m looking at those Clippers picks that the Sixers have and want them more than this year’s draft pick because the Clippers core is 32-year-old Kawhi Leonard who hasn’t been healthy for the past 2 years in the playoffs and 34y old James Harden along with the Paul George question mark you got to ask yourself where will the Clippers be in 2028 and 2029 I could be wrong but I feel like the Clippers picks are the main factor in terms of the Sixers netting a great return for their picks I think the Sixers should go into the draft with this mindset identify talents that you believe are winning players that should be off the board before your pick number 16 is a great spot because it’s almost certain that you’re going to be in the situation where you can select a player who keeps dropping and you’re saying how is he dropping it happens every single year the question is will you be the team to pass up the Tyrese Maxi or the team to take the Tyrese Maxi of the 2024 NBA draft so if someone with clear Talent is dropping strike immediately not only has that happened for the Sixers with Tyrese Maxi but another example is Michael Porter Jr everyone was afraid of his back problems so he slid to the Nuggets Nas Reed is another guy you can look at he underperformed at LSU had a bad combine was out of shape for NBA standards and it turned off pretty much every single team in the league and he went undrafted but the talent was always there it was pretty obvious if I’m being real I’m going to go over two play I’m going to go over two players the first one a guy with star potential a riskier option but if he hits it will be a Derek Lively type of impact and then the second guy will be the guaranteed oh he’s going to be a productive high-end role player the ham hakz Christian Brown and Trace Jackson Davis type of pick one player who is being overthought in my eyes is Isaiah cair he’s a clear Lottery Talent yet I see him on mock drafts getting picked after the Sixers bleacher reported in their most recent mock draft to actually have the Sixers picking him he underperformed at USC had a hand injury that plagued him but the flashes are obvious he was the number one recruit in his high school class and my favorite draft YouTuber hoop intellect check him out if you haven’t already he stated at the end of his video on him and I quote I like the Miami Heat for him I think the possibility he ends up the steel of the draft is pretty high if he ends up there just hearing he has steel of the draft potential was beautiful now maybe he’s not the best fit for the Sixers but last year the Sixers were missing off the dribble juice so much so that campaign was a huge blessing and Isaiah’s main positives right away is his ability to get in the painted area and he flourishes with the ball in his hands he can get to the rim and finish at a high high level he also has shown great passing instincts and ranks as one of the better Playmakers in the draft class the obvious swing factor for him is his shooting ability it’s pretty much a weakness right now but we hear that with pretty much every guard out of college who doesn’t shoot the lights out he shot 33% from three on just three threes attempted per game what I like about him is he has everything in his game just not everything is consistent even his weaknesses even his weaknesses such as a mid-range game he has shown flashes of having it he just didn’t rely on it and look for it a ton and even his three-point shooting he shot 37% on catch and shoot threes but that wasn’t his role within the offense he was the creator he wasn’t surrounded by Elite creators to get him shots he clearly has star potential and if he drops you got to pick him Tristan dilva is the other guy he went to Colorado he will be an older and more NBA ready Prospect compared to most of the prospects in the draft he’s 68 7 foot1 wingspan one of his best attributes is his activity off the ball he’s extremely active as a cutter can finish around around the rim in a variety of ways and efficiently he can be used as a screener at times and on top of that he is a very good three-point shooter and floor spacer for an offense nearly five three-pointers attempted per game at 39% his form is a beautiful site and looks effortless most of his value will come as a standstill shooter but he can also fly around screens every now and again and launch from Beyond pretty effectively he also can attack Closeouts and isn’t uncomfortable with dribbling the basketball to create a shot he’s got pretty much everything in his offensive package him learning from Nick patum would be awesome for his development he lowkey reminds me of a young Nick Batum who was a 15o per game scorer in his prime for the Charlotte Hornets you could tell he has High basketball IQ always finding open teammates making quick passing decisions he was a great defender in college might take a little time at the next level but he’s a guy you can just trust to keep getting better better it’s almost a guarantee that he will be a high-end role player one day because he hustles has skill on and off the ball plus he’s an extremely smart basketball player with winning habits built into his game and of course there are other guys I’m interested in like Jared McCain from duke Dalton KCK from Tennessee overall I’m really talking myself into keeping that pick it will be interesting to see what the Sixers do let me know below what you think they will do and what they should should do have yourself a great day and peace out

Ja'Kobe Walter is so underrated, he'd be perfect and can contribute as a 3&D guy right away
Ware
Devin Carter
Da Silva
I agree w/ you a lot, however, the draft is a huge gamble, and Sixers past history (apar from Maxey) has not been the greatest. I like the draft, but damn!
Da Silva would be so tough
Side Bar: The thumbnail for this video is egregious.
Boy oh boy
Guys we need to trade the pick with the Knicks for Jericho Sims. Knicks are stashing him, we can get him and he’ll be great to come off the bench and start for Embiid who we can’t depend on. GO SIXERS! 🔔🏆
Disagree on Collier. He had a terrible combine. Measuring at only 6'3 with a wingspan smaller than Maxey's is rough. Adding to him being a poor vertical athlete (34 max vert is not good) and predictably shooting poorly, I absolutely get why he could fall. He is not the 6'5 A+ athlete everybody thought he was.

I think Nick nurse know he made a mistake not playing kj and Ricky and he will correct that next year in my opinion ❤️💙
Jared McCain
Tristan De Silva
Kyshawn George
Kyle Filipowski
Devin Carter
Clear move is draft Bronny. Sign Bron. Trade for 4th star. Resign everyone who will take minimum like Oubre, Cam Payne, and Buddy.
I like the Sixers draft defense power forward. Sixers needs more defense.
Hidden GEM at 16
6rs problem they don't keep their young player they developed nothing always in socall win now mode yet they continues to win nothing years later lusting for the same player the could have drafted willing to gut themselves of assets…..STUPIDITY.
Please sell the team to Sam Presti or Jerry West.
Keep the pick!!
I have a better chance of flying then the sixers keeping the pick. The sixers' mindset is set draft picks are trade chips only to get an old all-stars. I think the only way now the sixers will keep a pick is if they are in the lottery or the NBA rules. I don't even get excited about the draft now. The sixers front office is rubbish.
I like the 2 players you mentioned first, too bad we will not see them in a sixer's jersey.
Collier is a developmental guy. Not even close to ready to play. Also this draft is littered with guards that can shoot the lights out..Sheppard, Walter, Carter, Dillingham..
