  2. Extreme-Site-8496

give jj some good assistants and pray for the best

  3. alexor_1

so another rookie coach even tho we are trying to win a chip lmao

  4. Yes hire a coach with 0 experience very smart Rob and Jeanie

  5. SolarBeam12

First coach since Jason Kidd to be a head coach before having any coaching experience. Hopefully they give him good assistants.

Not much new info but whatever. I don’t hate it as long as we get solid assistants for him. Borrego as Associate HC and one really strong assistant with prior HC experience (I liked the Scott Brooks chatter). Then add in Rondo or Dudley and that’s a strong, contemporary staff imo. Phil back too would be nice.

Glad to see everyone in the comments is positive and level headed

I’m sure AD will be very happy with this decision…..

  9. I guess all we can be is optimistic. Borrego as lead assistant would be great since he has a good relationship with AD. Ultimately I do think JJ understands modern basketball and I’ve talked myself into it.

Unpopular opinion but I think JJ will be good with good assistants and good play calling. I think he will be fine in the locker room with his personality and Bron having his back. One think about this Bron & AD era is no matter the record or who the head coach is the players always seem to get along for the most part. Don’t see the locker room being an issue.

This better get Pelinka fired if it doesn’t work out.

  12. I sincerely hope JJ does well & proves everyone here that 1st year HCs can succeed even with a star-studded roster. JJ knows the game & the players. I think we’ll be in okay shape. Hot take, but I can see JJ doing well and eventually becoming a GM in the league as well

I’m not a fan of the move, but I’ll cheer the motherfucker on all the same until he proves otherwise. Hopefully the Lakers see something that we don’t. Let’s do this!

We survived the Westbrook trade this is nothing for us stay strong everyone.

i don’t know anything about redick other than he used to be a good shooter and has a podcast. what are the reasons lakers are so enamored with this guy as a potential head coach? genuinely asking.

  16. Consistent_Owl4593

If he didn’t have a podcast with LeBron would he have even been a candidate? Imagine telling LeBron “hey in your last few seasons as an active player we’re going to get a commentator/podcaster to get us to the promise land” before they had the show together

  17. Wondering_Nova

I’m excited. He should bring a new age offense to the roster. All he needs is a solid squad of assistant coaches

  18. DeKobe-DeBryant

He will be successful, his attention to detail and obsession with systems/discipline will guarantee it. With the lack of established coaches available, this was the swing for the fences hire the Lakers needed to make.

  19. Teams a joke. One of the most popular franchises around the world in all of sports consistently getting coach hiring’s wrong is hilarious. You would think you would have first dibs and cream of the crop when it comes to coaching decisions and you just end up with picking a first time NBA coach who’s previous coaching experience is highschool basketball, who has no coaching connections so his assistance are going to be in house promotions or washed coaches. Rob Pelinka gets to survive another year and save his ass because he can just point to LeBron after he retires and say “Hey this wasn’t my first choice.”

Fucking hire the guy that has insight to our biggest hurdle right now in the west, ya know DENVERS LEAD OFFENSIVE ASSISTANT, or how about a coach team that KNOWS HOW TO OPERATE A LARGE SIZE ROSTER IN MINNESOTA. Just truly mind blowing.
