[Jon Krawczynski] After a run to the Western Conference Finals, the Timberwolves and President Tim Connelly have agreed in principle on a restructured contract, locking him in for the 2024-25 season, sources tell me and @ShamsCharania. Connelly’s opt-out has been moved to next year.

[Jon Krawczynski] Connelly could have opted out now with the ownership situation in flux. This agreement allows him and the Wolves to focus on a critical summer while also giving Connelly some flexibility to see how the fight between Glen Taylor and Marc Lore/Alex Rodriguez will play out.
Seemingly the best of a bad situation, I guess. Just kicking the can down the road.

I’m not a fan of opt outs in any contracts. If they do a great job they demand more money if they don’t they stay in contract
I can’t wait til this ownership dispute is resolved. If Glen is out, I’m fairly confident we’ll have Connelly for the foreseeable future. Just get out Glen thanks for keeping the team in MN and that’s about it but it’s Lore/Arod era
Does anyone else fear the arod group is looking to relocate the wolves?
Interesting. Good news for now, but I’m a bit disappointed that we’ll probably be right back here next year wondering if TC’s gonna walk or not.
This does confirm TC’s loyalty to Lore/ARod. Sure, Glen was opposed to the move when they brought him in, but I previously thought it was a stretch to say he wouldn’t be willing to stay on with Glen as owner (sorry Doogie)—provided he was able to operate as he pleased and the money was right.
But if he truly felt that both sides were about equal, he’d just sign the extension now; he wouldn’t be waiting to see how the ownership battle shakes out. Maybe there’s some disagreement over his compensation as well, but for as much as Glen sucks, I would think even he would allow Connelly to name his price on the next contract considering what he’s done for the team over the last two years.
Additionally, it’s sort of interesting that TC is as uncertain as us about which way the chips will fall in the ownership battle. I would have guessed he’d be more plugged in to it than us + reporters, but again, if he felt confident in either side winning control, he would have just made a decision to stay/leave MN now.
We are so back. Wolves back.
Feels like Tim is saying a lot without saying a word.
Let’s just hope Marc/Arod win or we are soon back to however many years of Glenn making the same bad decisions that led to 20 terrible years of basketball until he basically dies and then his kids probably sell the team to any random person on the street since they don’t want it.
Its like he is really waiting for who will won the ownership battle..its more likely if glen wins he will opt out.
Tim think he’s Bron, signing these two year deals with a player option lol
