Could Zaccharie Risacher Go First Overall to the Hawks? | The Ringer NBA Draft Show
[Music] we might as well start out at number one it only makes sense to start there with Zachary Reet number one to the Atlanta Hawks in my mock draft gavone had the same pick over at ESPN which I talked to him about on Monday’s podcast and it seems like Reay is gonna be top two in all likelihood 68 forward out of France he is a guy who shot nearly 40% from three this past season is in a good Defender and he’s not much of a ball handler shot Creator but he has three inde qualities he’s the number one pick in this mock the Atlanta Hawks what’s the grade you would give if that were the choice on draft night uh I’d go B minus or C somewhere in that range I’d give you let’s see in Kentucky I know the great well at our at our Public School let’s see a c was what 70 to 79 so I’d give you um I’d give that a 78 mainly because when I look at a number one pick and I’m like I like the size but I’m like you know can’t doesn’t really create for himself has an unproven shot I’m like okay well he’d better be an incredible Defender he doesn’t really have like you know awesome physical tools with the plus wingspan and stuff like that he’d better be an elite athlete makes me a little queasy I don’t know I felt a little I’d kind of talk myself into SAR playing with uh with with Trey young assuming they keep him um I was going to ask you if uh well we can get to that when we talk about s but I was was coming around to the idea of SAR maybe being like next year’s Derek Lively for was you know the way Lively sort of fit perfectly with with with Luca I kind of talked myself into that but I just don’t know man I’m having a hard time with re Reese going that high that’s driven by but that’s not what’s on your big board this is an Intel driven decision on your part yes that’s what this mock is is more Intel driven in terms of General range and that can obviously change a lot of these guys haven’t even worked out for some of these teams yet like Reay is still overseas right now SAR hasn’t worked out for Atlanta balis hasn’t worked out for Atlanta yet there’s a number of guys that have not even been to the Hawks facility yet so I think they still need to figure out what they’re going to do whether that’s trade out trade down keep Trey trade Trey trade de jante keep them both like I still think they’re in a figuring it out phase right now um so things are going to change like it’s only June 4th as we record this right now you’ll listen to this on June 5th but I think like there’s a lot of time to go even though there’s actually not a lot of time to go and one of the other guys that they could take I have him going second to the Wizards that’s Alex SAR a near seven-footer 224 pounds with a 7 foot4 wingspan 19 years old super versatile Defender good at room finisher he shows flashes as a shooter even though he’s been you know not a proven guy by any means yet but I have him going number two to the Wizards what your grade I’d give that an a uh based on what’s there you know um it’s they’re a team that doesn’t have uh the map is what I always talk about you know in the draft or if you’re an organization they don’t really have a map right now uh I also just totally forgot that Marvin Bagley was on the Wizards when I was going down their trade machine I was like oh my God what a what a fall that has been um thanks Troy Weaver thanks everybody uh V yeah I he makes sense on a blank c throwing a bit you know a 611 guy you mentioned the passing in his in his profile that’s the kind of thing that makes him pretty interesting to me in terms of a pick and role player as a lob threat he’s really fast and athletic you know yeah he makes sense to me there so if I’m the Wizards that’s that’s a versatile tool that’s going to help me kind of no matter what direction I go I feel like where’s SAR on your personal big board right now I’ve got him in the 3ish range yeah right now uh no let’s see I have I actually have the last time I updated I had kingan one and I had Shephard 2 and I had SAR 3 yeah buzell is four yeah so there we go okay so you had kingan one king and I have him as the third pick to the Rockets Donovan kinging to Houston with a third pick what’s your grade to Houston I don’t feel like it fits the immediate need for them but if you you know it may be a question of if they see based on how they seeing the draft play out I could see them saying okay we know we can fill this other need which I think you know maybe Fred bble isn’t the most coste effective option for them long term he’s a little older than I think people even realize at times um he was sort sort of a short-term solution for them to sort of bring some professionalism in with these younger guys maybe they’re looking to upgrade that position later with another pick but like for them you know do you think that him and shingun is kind of the question it’s like you assume that Clingan can come along a little bit lower um but for they they’ve kind of had the philosophy too of you know just take talent and figure it out you know Whitmore was available to them late they took him um they have a lot of athleticism a lot of size their sort of defensive identity he fits with that the shingun and kingan thing is interesting to me I know you know how do you see that playing out those two together well on offense one of kingan or shenon would have to be a guy that develops a three-pointer that’s a given like and I I think Shen gun can cling in him less certain even though you know he fancies himself as that and he’s doing it on pre-draft workouts and all that one of them would have to shoot but then probably more importantly it would kind of be the Minnesota Timberwolves thing that we saw where season one with Rudy goar and Carl Anthony towns it didn’t work so well season two it worked tremendously in large part because Carl Anthony towns adjusted and became a very good perimeter Defender can shenon do that probably not can kingan do that I mean he’s an interior guy so I don’t love the fit here even though I have that as my mock this isn’t like a great a mock draft and part of the reason why I put cing in here is because of the all the talk about Houston being a team that could trade this pick whether it’s to Memphis at number nine or somebody else that ends up moving it up or out entirely in the draft so I think that’s part of the reasons why I kind of pencil in clinging here um rather then like I think if I’m drafting the best fit for Houston to me is Reed Shepard Reed Shepard he’s a guy that can come along behind Fred Van vet who only has two years left on his contract and could potentially become the guy that replaces him or you go to Stefan castle and you think about um Castle brings size he could be a really great fit next to Jaylen Green in the years to come but you would have to feel really confident about Castle’s point guard abilities based off of his high school you know rather than Yukon where wasn’t the primary guy there so I think there’s like a there’s no perfect fit for Houston at the third pick but there’s a lot of guys that I like for them at selection but so far what we have here is ret one SAR 2 kinging three and it seems to me that wait what was the grade you gave klling to the Rockets I don’t see how that would work I mean I I like if you’re in Talon acquisition mode like I said like yeah cool figure it out later but in if you’re assuming what you have is what you’re gonna have which we both like shingun a lot you were way you were way ahead of me on that one like you you saw the vision there I I just think it would become a spacing nightmare you have to consider the other pieces too like e is he going to be a Dependable shooter what’s funny is SAR is like a bigger version of een I was just thinking about that the other day like physically we can talk about that another time but if you think for them I wouldn’t like that fit but I but I understand in this draft taking Talent acquisition so I can’t give it like a c but I’m like if you’re going for just fit with what they have I don’t see how that’s going to work he’d have to be his backup you know like so what’s your grid I’d give it a b just on that on those two on those two silos I’d say get the talent but with amen and tar and shingun I just don’t see where’s he’s not gonna play with the first five if that’s the case you prefer both both Saar and kingan for the Hawks at one both of those guys just to be clear I’d like that I’d like that I I I was going to say though you said the thing about like you don’t think there’s a perfect fit there I do think Reed is a perfect fit with the Rockets really I do oh yeah yeah yeah I I think like it’s the opposite of what we’re just talking about like I think that if you put him with you think about all the problems that he has I just think that like if you take the bit they’re going to be defensively really good and I don’t think that maybe the NBA at large realizes this yet but like we talked a lot about arar amen is phenomenal defensively like he is going to be one of the best defenders in the league they already in year one were like in the 95th percentile or higher in both of the disruptive stat categories um they are going to be very very good and I think if you put you know E’s phenomenal as we know if you put Reed in there man I I really think that would be a good protective situation for him free him up to shoot the ball I think it’s a great fit that that would be that’d be my take on that yeah re Reed would be a very very fun fit for them if they end up keeping three or even if they trade down and can get them a little bit lower um so that’s the top three number four this I want to do the top four picks here before we go a little deeper in the draft at number four I have the Spurs taking Maus buellis a 69 Ford out of the g-league didn’t shoot the ball particularly well with the ignite last year he shot it over 40% from three his senior year in high school much better production for him I have a conversation with buellis later in this episode that you should check out where we talk about his shooting and is an overall game I like balis a lot I had him number one entering the year I not have him number one right now but for number four with the Spurs mes buellis of San Antonio what’s your grade I like it I like it a lot and and I think if um I’d give it I’d give that an a I’d say that’s that’d be a good pick for them because I do think the shooting was um better than you than you would think I I went through and looked some of this up I mean buellis his numbers you have to take it into consideration I mean his three-pointed temps Sunrise Academy uh where you know 50% of his shots were wideopen threes and then that went down in ebl to 40% and then down even more to 37.6% with the ignite I believe in I I think it’s going to be good and I think his connective passing his handling needs to get a little bit better but if you had me rank Salon re ret and buellis I think I would have it bu buellis Rachet and then Salon I I think buellis is going to end up being the best player of those three guys bis do you think this your chance he ends up the best player in the class like what what does he need to do to be the best player in the class is it purely about the shooting no no I I I think he he needs I think he’s gonna get stronger I think he he got a lot stronger this past year just from my eye test I haven’t heard him say or anything you guys may talk he definitely has yeah he did get stronger and like I think uh ESPN Draft Express posted a video of him working out pre-draft and it’s like he looks more explosive to me I know it’s just like open Jam three on three workouts and all that but he looks more explosive um and like some people I’ve talked to around the league have seen that too and they’re like oh he looks like from the athletic you know uh you know training that he’s doing it’s improved his athleticism so I think the athletic Improvement the handling flashes the shooting flashes the defensive intensity and hustle and awareness and just the overall work ethic that he has I do think there’s a chance he ends up the best player in the class I had him W before the season he might end up number one for me before the draft begins on June 26th um but right now I have him number three on my board and in four of the Spurs in this SM he’s there is a re there is a mzis um sort of undertoe going on I just feel like in the in the conversations I’ve listened to and things I’ve read I just feel like there’s a little correction where people are being like are we dinging this sample a little harder than we should and I I just think that um you know the passing is a big thing too I think that he has good craft around the basket jurus is another guy that we can talk about later or if we if we get to it but there’s just some guys that have craft and spatial feel in this class that are that are climbing the board for me like in a year where we’re not sure if we have this or that type of archetypal thing that we we’d love to have but I I just think buellis I I have a good feeling about him like you know he he knows how to play and I kind of feel good about those tools at least getting to you know 35% range I could see that happening and if he brings all those other tools then that’s a good player the the creation stuff isn’t as imperative it it’d be nice but it’s not going to kill you if he doesn’t do it immediately la

KOC has terrible draft analysis
Sarr is going 1st smh
This draft sucks lol
Kinda crazy that Clingan might go a full round before a guy who almost gave him a 40 piece but it is what it is. I feel sorry for all these slow footed giants born in the wrong century.
I assume every #1 KOC has is another Killian Hayes
Okay why does this year's NBA draft seem like everyone was generated in 2K MyCareer? Respectfully 😅
I hope so, so that the better players can land with the Spurs.
Shouldn't every West team be creating a roster to stop Wemby? Clingan to the Rockets makes sense
The Rockets better not waste a lottery pick on another big or wing. Trade down or trade the pick entirely.
This draft gotta be hella difficult… during the process there has been so many people projected at first overall.
Holland a year plus ago
Matas a year ago
Cody Williams 6 months ago
Sarr 3 months ago
Risacher this month
Clingan today??
If I'm drafting I'm just doing upside.
Jalen Johnson X Zaccharie is SCARY 🔥🔥💪🏽
Clingan obviously to Houston. Castle Doesn’t fit with Amen, Green and Whitmore. Amen is their eventual PG
I appreciate the effort, but this year's draft is a snoozer and no matter how hard everyone tries to create content, that's not gonna change. Plus, nothing's topping the Killian Hayes year for KOC, he peaked early 😀
LMAO – KOC pressing J. Kyle Mann for a grade and him being hesitant to give one is sooo funny
Hilarious when the Hawks just draft Risacher and then keep DJ and Trae and Capela cause they can't make any moves it seems
Bro — Risacher has absolutely no business in #1 discussion
Nikola Topic just tore his acl
Even though I don't really dislike him, I think it's time we admit that KOC has one of the most punchable faces of all time.
Jfc these two are awful. Absolute buffoons
Killian Hayes.
Rule of thumb. Any foreign prospect is one grade point higher than the American pundit's estimate. At this time of the year in the last draft, many were picking Scoot Henderson
as the number one overall pick.
K Ozempic looking good!
