Lakers really can’t afford to blow this. The money seems to be there if that 5/80 deal that was reported is true. This is gonna be about Rob and Jeanie being able to sell him on the ability to build his culture and brand of basketball in the most prestigious job in the NBA while empowering him and not meddling with the coaching staff or on-court stuff.
nothing left to prove in college. best coach in the ncaa and dominant championship wins. Even if he enjoys his job there, U Conn severely underpaid for his actual value to the program and cant match the 3x proposed salary increase.
JJ wanted to leave the easiest job in sports, a tv pundit to be a head coach. Now that they are making 10+ mil a year there is significant desire to be one, despite the scrutiny and poor job security. and getting fired while being paid tens of millions to retire isnt the worst thing in the world

why is everyone so excited? college basketball is nothing like NBA and college coaches do not have a good track record in the league. weeks of crying about reddick’s inexperience and then so much excitement about a guy with absolute 0 NBA connection, makes no sense
