    Damn, RIP.

We’ve been extremely lucky to have a lot of the pioneers in professional basketball still around during our lifetimes, but now we’re starting to lose quite a few of them to Father Time (especially on the ABA side).

Always a trip to think about the fact that guys like him were drafted and played before the Civil Rights Act even existed, and all that they’ve lived through since.

he’s one of those players where you watched the highlights and went yeah, you could take him from the 60s/70s and plug him in right now without all the training etc and he’d still get 20 a night

    just a money midrange jumper

Salute to Kenny “The Jet” Smith… But Chet Walker preceded him as The Jet as well. RIP

84, that’s the number I am shooting for.

Not going to lie, I had never heard of Chet Walker and I have been following Basketball since the 1990s. Interestingly though when I looked him up he apparently sued the league on antitrust violations for refusal to pay him out at the end of his career which is likely why the commissioners and subsequent media feeds never gave him air time.

Great player. Skilled, could play defense. Big part of that Philadelphia championship and one of the best teams of all time. Took the NBA to court in favour of player rights. Excellent career.
