Back against the wall with a 2-1 deficit and responded with 43 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists, and 7 three pointers in possibly the greatest performance we’ll ever see in Steph’s career just based off the stakes and urgency involved to give them boys life and it all ended in glory with a fourth championship and WELL-DESERVED Finals MVP accolade

This was a cathartic and immensely satisfying moment because impact metrics have shown what we’ve all known for years, that Curry has an impact that few can match, and maybe none can match on the offensive end, and that he has been doing it at the highest level under the brightest lights for years.
But narratives shape NBA history and narratives are shaped by ‘clutch’ buckets, huge box scores, titles, and FMVPs. Curry missed out in previous years due to injury (2016 – & tbf Lebron played maybe the best 3 games ever back to back), lack of box scores (KD years), titles/FMVPs (he was the best player in the raptors series but we lost), and even flat out robberies (sorry iggy but yeah)
Curry finally had one that lead to an eventual victory.
It shouldn’t have come to this, but it did, at a time when everyone thought it was over.
I don’t think you can really even argue – this is THE defining game of his career. He’s had games with more points and he’s had other games in extremely high leverage situations. But this series was the validation test for all the stupid bullshit we heard over years. “2015 Cavs were injured, 2016 was a choke, 2017 and 2018 don’t count because of KD.” We all know that he NEEDED this one to validate the other rings (whether that’s even true or not doesn’t matter, that’s just the stupid narrative.)
He was fucking magnificent when they needed him the most. Truly heroic shit. We’re so lucky to get to watch him play.
This lavender shoes ❤️ I have a framed pic of him on my wall of hoops fame holding both his trophies in the locker room with those shoes on
He hurt his ankle the game before too
Best playoff game and finals performance of any point guard ever. I consider this better than Allen Iverson’s 48 points game 1 win against Prime Shaq and Kobe because Steph’s performance actually led to a title.
