San Antonio Spurs Draft Devin Carter! ?San Antonio Spurs News
Devin Carter had one of the best athletic testing results in NBA draft combined history a lot of you starting to say we should give this guy a serious look at number [Music] eight what is up San Antonio Spurs fans welcome to TSR Sports Carter’s name keeps coming up more and more on the channel I thought you know what I need to find more about him as well I know we kill it at the combine with the athletic results but aside from that don’t know a ton about them so let’s get into this Scouting Report from Sports wire boom all right Carter took over his team in regards to Providence aing a Touch under 20 points per game with about nine rebounds three and a half assists just under two Steals and a block per game nice he was an efficient 56% on two pointers and about 38% from the from Beyond The Arc okay good on seven attempts per game and it was among the best Wing defenders in the entire country how many come I had heard more about him until recently let’s dig a Little Deeper let’s talk about his measurements all right just under 6’3 okay so I know a lot of you on the channel aren’t fans of guards that are under like the 65 range so he is under that however he’s not small like Dilly who weighed what like 165 lbs he’s 193 so he’s a solid dude and look at the wingspan just under 6’9 with an 82 standing reach and a vertical of 42 so sure he’s on the shorter side of guards in this draft well on the shorter end of the shorter guards in draft that being said though he’s thick and he can jump so he’s he’s still a good size even if he’s not 6’6 6′ 7 Etc I like that let’s get into his strengths Elite defensive guard at point of attack rebounds extremely well for his position and can guard multiple guard positions so the one or two a good line driver and finisher around the rim also Adept at using strength to finish through contact and get to the free the line where he is productive as well so far so good high level three-point shooter making him a three-dimensional scorer who should make an impact offensively from day one a lot of you comment and I read every comment believe me I do like you don’t want a project a guy that we have to work on this work on this work on this doesn’t sound like so far there’s a lot to G but we’re going to get some negatives shortly here able to play either guard position offensively always in the right position and makes winning plays and his dad was in the NBA 2 I checked Anthony did not play for the Spurs so just throwing that out there there are weaknesses and every draft pick in this this upcoming draft has something that needs to be worked on or something that needs to be fixed whatever wow what’s with number one there what what what man you having a bad day what is that face I didn’t that’s first time noticing that okay anyway just 6’2 without shoes could limit his ability to guard bigger Wings even though he plays bigger which of course we’re talking about his wings span and his weight wired more to score than to pass which makes him more of an off ball guard so that’s not always a bad thing is it might not be a guy that gets 10 12 assists per game but could he be a guy that averages 18 to 20 I mean Tony Parker was never I don’t think he ever HED 10 assist per game did he but he did his role and played it well you don’t have to average 10 12 assists to Great be a great point guard so we we’ll see on that one Limited in the mid-range okay so we know he can finish around the rim with his wingspan with his ability to LEAP but the mid-range game needs some work okay so he does need something to work on there okay not the worst thing but there’s a thing and this is probably the big one here turn the ball over quite a bit last year high usage rate was a contributing factor but Carter plays incredibly fast in some time gets too sped up and makes mistakes kind of reminds you of Blake wesling away does it not and if you look at his combine you’re going to understand why when I tell you this Carter broke an NBA Combine record in the three quarter Sprint as he ran a 2.87 the dude is FAS team he’s fast so no surprise that he may play a little out of control that’s something that can work on I mentioned Blake wesling we saw year one that was a huge problem from Blake and at the beginning of year two it was a problem here and there and it certainly got better as the season progressed so this sure maybe it’s a little bit concern but not every Prospect in this draft is perfect going to have the perfect sheet you’re not going to see strength strength strength strength strength and then when you go on the weaknesses nothing wow the perfect pick if that was the case he’d be ranked number one pick overall where is he ranked Spurs fans well let’s drop down here draft range and team fits draft range as of this article is 9 to 20 all right so they say that the heat would be perfect for him by the way I don’t know let’s talk about dein Carter for a moment here I feel like I say this a lot in these videos don’t think I’d want him with the fourth overall pick but if the Spurs took him eighth I would be okay with it that’s right near his projection and the combine stats just speak for themselves he can shoot the three yes he’s a little shorter than some of you would like but look at the guards in this draft Rob Dillingham greed Shepard he’s in that that same area but he’s got a great vert he’s got speed and he’s got an incredible wingspan he’s got what a plus plus six on his wingspan I mentioned yesterday’s video that most people on average you know your wingspan’s plus 3 in plus 4 in over your total height what I mean by that is is somebody 6′ tall at 72 in we’re probably going to have a Wings spin around 75 he’s got a plus six so that’s going to be a good thing for defending I I didn’t I haven’t seen him play I’ll be transparent this name it’s just popping up now on the radar well it popped up on the radar a little bit with the combine I was like man Devon Carter absolutely you know wow this incredible athletically with the combine but I hadn’t seen him projected as a top 10 pick so I didn’t really give it much thoughts like the Spurs are picking a 4 and eight whatever I mean they probably probably not in the Spurs radar but now he seems to be creeping up on draft boards and is this a player the Spurs could take at eight would he fit is this the type of player we’re looking for doj Murray was a great rebounder having a great rebounding point guard is not the worst case scenario or are you still looking for Dilly Shep or topic Castle who the heck knows what the spur is going to do but I love talking about projective prospects you guys have also been bringing up lately Dalin connect which I have not covered on the channel yet and maybe just a little bit sparingly and I haven’t researched him his strengths are weaknesses so that’s probably a video we’ll do for the channel tomorrow cuz I’m curious you know players that you guys are interested in I I want to give a look and players that we could possibly draft and become Spurs you know great Spurs really big part of his team of course it’s all about what’s going to fit with Wy in the end but I want to research players that there’s a legit chance that we can draft in the lottery a lot of you are seeing certain players in the second round you know hey Zack eating in the second round I don’t think he’s going to be there otherwise I would cover him uh jix a name that come I forgot his first name Jers a name that you guys have brought up a few times in the Channel all signs point2 he’s not going to be available in the second round he’s probably going to be a late first round pick and if that’s the case I don’t want to I don’t want to say it’s not worth it to cover him because I’m interested in what he can do but it doesn’t make sense to do a video that says Spurs Draft so and so player if it’s likely that they’re not going to be available at that spot you might say well TSR you’ve covered race and SAR yeah those are more pipe drain scenarios we’re not that far off where Rashi could fall the four or could maybe move up a little bit but somebody like Ed a expected to be mid first round last I checked we’re not we’re not taking them at four or eight more than likely I’d be very shocked and dare I say there’s no chance he falls of the second round so that’s all I got let me know in the comments down below if the spurge drafted Carter at in would you be like all on board if they draft them that forward you be like oh you reached a little too bit or is this a player you just don’t want at all in the Spurs let me know hit the THB like the channel and subscribe become part of our awesome San Antonio Spurs community and thank you for watching and as always go Spurs go [Music]

Yep. This guy can contribute right away.
It's seens like a intresting prospect that the spurs can pick at the PG position im ok with it if they get him with 8th pick of the nba draft.
Yup he's a good pg
Sorry I am late to this news but did Mrs TSR hear that Dan Hurley will not be going to Lakers but staying with Huskies instead trying to go for 3 peat
Derrick White comp.
Oh come on Rich, Anthony Carter (his dad) was on the 2003-04 Spurs roster
Very good stuff
Carter over Dilli, the guy is a studš ..trade back or just straight up just trade for him
He probably be another ja , with better defense. I want Trae young, draft dillingham to come off the bench and Buzelis
i dont feel him like a game changer
I like him but his ball security was a major issue against middling teams. ⤠would rather take a shot at Collier.
If SA specifically wants a PG and has decided to draft one instead of trade for one, the choice is Carter (at 8). There are 3 lottery level PGs in the draft: Dilly, Topic and Carter. Dilly will likely always be a defensive liability which SA really canāt afford. Carter has a better shot and better defense than Topic (and a longer wingspan) and he is more athletic. And he isnāt hurt so he can go to work immediately transitioning to the NBA. Itās a solid choice that should be able to step in and help immediately, especially given his 3 point shooting which SA sorely lacks. Wouldnāt think twice about drafting him at 8 IF you specifically want a PG or a 1-2 player who can defend and shoot because he really doesnāt have any competition in terms of the skills he has right now.
Anthony Carter played 5 games for the Spurs in 03'04 season
Iād be wayyyy ok with it
Let add just one more thing: SA needs offense (particularly at the 3) and defense. Carter is one of the few top players in this draft that has both right now (not āpotentialā to develop).
Carter at 8 would be good but I think it going to be salaun
Pass on Carter. Trade for Darius or Young .
Not impressed, seen him play in person
Dalton is an example of what Iām talking about in this draft: a great shooter who canāt defend. With very few exceptions in this draft, you get one and (at best) āpotentialā for the other.
McCain Carter Carrington BETTER BE ON THE SPURS RADAR. In a draft that has no clear cut number one , crazier scenarios could emerge in this draft. Let's say Risacher , Reed ,Castle go in some weird one two three, and Spurs wake up to Sar.. .at 4 …then blah blah blah more point guards gone…. These three guys all have huge upside at point guard .. and we also need to keep an eye on that SERBIA late round guard… Spurs have the keys to this draft, use your second round picks to move up to the first late, then pay for or trade one of our duplicates .. we don't need both Blake /Malaki or Dom/Basse…, they dont have to lose our core players, three great draft picks ,and bring in one. Veteran shooter …. AND WE WOULD BE FINE…. Alien in the Mask š½
