If he could defend the pick n roll he’d be going 1st overall. But he can’t.

This isn’t bad at all. All show promise just need minor tweaks.
-1st one he does his job and forces an outside shot.
-2nd one is entirely on Olynyk. Edey looks like he’s beat but he recovers extremely well. If Kelly stays on Bobby, that’s an extremely tough sweeping lay for Haliburton.
-3rd one his hand placement got him. That is coachable, if he keeps his hands high then Reeves goes nowhere. Bailed out the offense with bad hand placement.
-4th is an awkward shot that Reeves made, that’s the shot you want in drop coverage. Hats off to the offense.
Overall, he has room to grow. But, he doesn’t look completely lost. Just looks like he’s going against Team USA when he’s a 20 year old with no pro experience.

This is from before his college season this year isn’t it? Seems too old to be making a current judgment on.

Honestly I still see potential here. The main thing he needs to work on his keeping his hands in the right spot, the footwork isn’t as bad as people think (his speed has improved from last combine to this one when he was tested).
He’s improved his game every season at the college level, it’s possible there’s still more potential to unlock defensively

Vecenie said on the Will Lou pod that basically he’ll be a good NBA player but only usable in drop coverage on defense come playoffs and you need a good defensive team around him.

No prospect in this draft or at 19 in any draft is perfect.
Im not gonna be mad if they take him

there’s homers in here that say Edey would be better laterally in the NBA. I don’t see it. He’s gonna get carved alive in PnR by elite guards. The only way he can survive is if he develops Marc Gasol instincts on defense. Not worth the pick at 19 but maybe at 31.

He got eaten up on those two alley oops in the Final Four championship game against UConn and this is clearly an area of weakness.
He was also able to camp in the paint in college but the 3-second rule won’t allow him to do that at the next level. His agility, footwork and quickness is really going to have to improve if he wants to carve out consistent minutes in the NBA.

yeah but he’s quite elite at being Canadian, that skill makes up for a lot of stuff /s
Dareal6
He needs to watch a ton of Marc Gasol tape. He’s not any less athletic than Marc.
