“Tell me what his career looked like.”

“What did he do that determined games? He averaged 12 points a game in the league.”

  2. deadassynwa

    How long ago was that?

    He looked so healthy

  3. JaysonTatumOverrated

That whole saga was great. Old ass Bob Cousy who you never hear about called into a radio station to talk shit

  4. HolyRomanPrince

Translation: yeah the game might be different but if you put him in 1964 I’d still give his monkey ass buckets

  5. neuroticsmurf

    Jerry’s right.

    JJ was disrespectful as shit.

I get the point he was trying to make. The game’s different now. Players are more athletic, more skilled, and more specialized.

But he could have made those points without denigrating the people who came before him and built the league so that his dumbass could have a career.

  6. Gristle__McThornbody

Fuck the Lakers if they hire JJ.

I mean, you don’t need to be a hall of famer athlete to discuss how the level of competition has changed over the decades. The access to resources to get stronger, faster then to recover has widened significantly. The collegiate level of competition has grown a greater talent pool to choose from.

Comparing eras one to another is something I avoid.

Translation: 1964, 2024, 2054 I’m giving him buckets whichever decade you pick.

  9. john_kennedy_toole

Oh I thought it was only the troll account Barry McCockner on Twitter that argued it was only firemen and plumbers.

    Very restrained roasting.

Jerry West had like a ~~46″~~ ??? vertical at the same height as JJ Reddick. He could reach 16″ above the rim. He would have had no issue at all keeping up athletically with the league.

Reddick had one carrer dunk: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mm9NfAURtGI

  11. It’s like people talking trash about Bill Russell for not shooting. Good luck playing against a 6’10 center who can leap over anyone smaller than him and is also the fastest player on the floor

  12. LoudChampionship1831

Life’s only promise is death, what a great guy Jerry West was

  13. InfinitiQX80Driver

this situation seems so recent and he seems so sharp, i could have sworn we would have had this man to 100

  14. andy18cruz

50 years from now, Bob Cousy would still be remembered as one of the best players in the early era of the NBA. JJ Reddick will be a footnote.

  15. Razatiger

This is just a reminder that the NBA being so competitive about accolades and titles is cultural and i love it. This is why I never really get too mad at Shaq, all these guys are fiercely competitive about their place in the history of the game and have no problem going to war over it whether it be Shaq, MJ, Magic, Bird or West.

  16. CaltexHart

“He wasnt gonna guard… elite players.”

He so badly wanted to say “He couldnt guard ME.”

  17. kurbin64

I’d love to see JJ go back in time to that era and go be mediocre 😂 he would be too

  18. GenralChaos

He was livid at the question. He looked like a less psychotic Rodger Stone at that deposition. He was barely holding back his rage. I guess the older you get the less patience you have for what you consider bullshit and are less able to hide it.

  19. TheArsenal

Jerry one of the few players who could have excelled in absolutely any era. Freak athlete with a 100/100 basketball IQ.

  20. Furqan23

Jerry to Redick: “I’m closer to lebron than you are to me”

  21. BigBobPatakiii

Lol he’s so unfazed. No yelling, no personal shots…this is exactly what it looks like when you address a person who you know is beneath you 😂

  22. prone2scone

Better athletes, yes, but a modern player would get called for a carry or a travel on every possession before they ever got a shot up.

  23. IAmCBOY2

Absolute legend and completely under appreciated as a player. He was a scoring machine and one of the most clutch players ever. Redick is such a disrespectful clown

  24. Play_Durty

JJ is an idiot. in 40 years, kids of 2064 will say Lebron played against Streamers and TV host. 4k games will look how the games from the 80s look now to us lol.

Whoever is elite during their time period should be celebrated. Bob Cousy played against the best people in the world at that time. Every era has faced the best players in the world during those years. No need to downplay any accomplishments.

Sometimes you have to sit back and think what those players would do today if they grew up with the nutrition we have, the info we have, the training we have, etc. They would fit in just like they did back then.

If John Stockton and Jeff Hornacek shot 10 3s a game, they would have been the splash brothers back then lol. They both shot 40% so maybe they should have shot more 3s

  25. IzodCenter

A lot of yapping from JJ while not doing much

  26. Jerry “The Logo.” JJ the insufferable asshole.
