This Finals run is 11 years in the making

It’s surreal that the rebuild post-Nets trade is finally paying off. Huge shoutout to Danny for drafting Tatum and Brown even though the end of his Celtics tenure was shaky at best. Brad then salvaged the 2021 team and built a juggernaut around the Jays

  1. there was an awesome video of this i saw on social media (i think originally tiktok) showing this whole journey split into 5 chapters, which i can’t find anymore. does anyone know what i’m talking about and have the link?

Marshon Brooks, Kris Humphries & Jordan Crawford. The foundation of 2024 Champions in waitin, Boston Celtics ☘️

At the time I was sad not to have KG and PP there anymore, but it was a steal of a trade then, and it’s just hilarious now.

It hurts me that IT isn’t a part of this. Dude bled green for us and he will forever be a favorite. There’s no place for him on this team, my head understands this. But my heart wants IT to have a ring.

When this all started and i mean really started, it was just Brad, Jaylen, Jayson, and Al. Especially happy for those guys they’ve worked so hard to get here.

Billy King totally being gifted the first ring when we win

  7. Common_Effective_625

Is the 11th picture the starting lineup vs the Nets big 3? Can’t believe we even won a game. Kudos to Tatum

  8. thumbsup_baby

We need to send Billy King a jersey of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown.

    Shoutout to Jeff green

Despite the heart issues he was our “star” player for a year and played pretty well all told

  10. It’s amazing how the trade of the last big three literally lead up to this moment in time. One game away and there is a direct link between those two championships. Two of the three Brooklyn picks netted Brown and Tatum. Just amazing team building. Give 50% to Ainge to build the core, and 50% to Stevens for adding all the correct supporting pieces. I hope Michael Holley writes a sequel to “The Big Three” about this. Hope they take it tomorrow night.

Marcus, Romeo, Fournier, Tatum, TT Starting 5 is some serious nightmare fuel.

Tried to black out Fournier’s Celtics stint from my memory tbh.

Good lord silver popped out of nowhere twice like the Boogeyman

    IT4 & Marcus ….

  13. Organic-Specific-500

Criminally missing Marcus in this “making of”

  14. I’ve always wanted to see some graphic designer make an amazing infographic explaining all of the personnel moves Ainge made while he was running the Cs

Feels so good when your years of let down and loyalty pays off! BOS IN 4!

Man, that starting 5 with Langford, Fournier, and Thompson was ROUGH considering that was the start of the Jay’s primes.

The kemba walker and gordon Hayward days are a blur now. Crazy really

Omg that Tatum pick and his ankle the only thing that softens the blow is the pick right after with all our dudes jacking em up, well done. Last year they figured out a little bit about FAFO and closing games and not playing down to an opponent. This team’s built different.

  19. This is actually 70+ years in the making. This whole thing wouldn’t happen if Danny isn’t our GM getting the Jays, which probably doesn’t happen in the first place if he wasn’t an ex-Celtics drafted by Red. So it all goes back.

I remember seeing the 2017 team advance to the ECF for first time in 5 years after beating the wizards in game 7 and I was through the roof. Crazy how far we’ve come

  21. GooseMay0

I will die on this hill that Humphries was actually a solid role player. He’d be a great 8th man on this team.

  22. mrhappyfunz

I’ve heard it a few times on some podcast – but man that 2021 team was straight booty

  23. Can’t believe Jordan Crawford didn’t make a name for himself. That dude could ball. His shot looked pretty wild but he did make them at a decent clip

Eastern conference player of the week: Jordan “Steez” Crawford

  25. Get_your_grape_juice

Man, there were some rough years in there.

  26. I’m one of the biggest Paul Pierce and KG fans ever, of time in the whole world and I knew it was the end of that run. I was ecstatic about the trade and all those 1st round picks. I knew they would be gold. I was happy for them that they may have had a chance to get back to the finals on another team, maybe.

  27. Chawalomi

This made me realize Jaylen is the longest tenured celtic

  28. doggydoug33

Quick shoutout to Kelly for that wizards series

  29. Atsibababa

I was there when sullinger, and smart was drafted. Celtics forever!

random but that stretch the Celtics had in 2014-15 after trading Rondo, Jeff Green, acquiring IT, Crowder, Jerebko and Datome was such a fun time… had no shot vs the Cavs, but how they had to fight to get into the playoffs (when Ainge tried his best to make them a high lottery team) was such a wild underdog story

  31. SinibusUSG

What really stands out to me is that the Celtics, if they win tonight or any of the other 3 potential games, will have only had two losing seasons (and only one really bad one) in the 16 years between championships. How many teams manage a full-on rebuild like that so smoothly? And what’s even better is how they will have hit the goal of a championship so early in the timeline of the Jays’ tenure that there’s way more time left to build on that than there was after the PGA Celtics won in their first year since they were all 3-5 years older already.
