Luka fouled out being called for a block because his feet weren’t set yet against Brown.
Just curious, in opening seconds of 4th qtr, Luka is driving to basket and Brown’s feet are obviously still moving, but Luka called for a foul.
What is the difference?

This was an offensive foul
Brown’s hook should’ve also been an offensive foul
Combine that with the “moving screen” and Luka fouling out of the game, it was a brutal 4th quarter stretch of reffing.
We don’t have robots for refs, if we did these things would stop being issues.
Until that day, this is pointless to speculate about.
On locked on Mavs they called it a “charging foul”
I called it bs
Ya there’s no way this is an offensive foul. IDC what anyone says.
If you watch closely, Brown gets low and when Luka turns, Brown gets up under his arm and raises up lifting Luka’s arm. This was a really bad call.
Simple: Celtics allowed to play rough, Mavericks are not.
All 3 of the luka/brown collisions just ends up with brown flopping and getting the call
That’s the exact same foul Luka got called for. His 5th foul I believe when Brown did the same to him
Luka shouldn’t reacted like he did, but the refs did help Celtics.
Agreed
Regarding Luka’s 6th/final foul – Here is the link to the NBA’s video rulebook on what constitutes a “charge”. Interestingly enough, the example they show looks almost identical to what happened to Luka – yet the NBA video rulebook says it was a charge (not a block) – [https://videorulebook.nba.com/archive/charging-on-ball-defender-establishes-legal-position-2/](https://videorulebook.nba.com/archive/charging-on-ball-defender-establishes-legal-position-2/)
And just for comparison, here is Luka’s 6th foul where he is called for a block. Why does NBA video rulebook say this is a charge, but refs call it a block?: [https://youtu.be/t3vgVednis8?si=BzKThnrQgwtBKLFk](https://youtu.be/t3vgVednis8?si=BzKThnrQgwtBKLFk)
If THIS was an offensive foul, than Brown hooking Luka should have been an offensive foul or him charging into Luka. Brown wasn’t set and literally flops over. Dude is too strong to do that, but the refs have been rewarding him and Jrue for that even though they are two of the most physically strongest defenders in the league.
The argument is yes brown was there, but my moving his feet he loses his prior positioning. Luka tried to go around him and Brown moved to get into the space where Luka wants to go. That is a clear foul on Brown because he had moved his feet
Zero consistency from the refs and they decided to use a must win game 3 of the NBA Finals to show Luka who’s in charge.
