Xavier Tillman: Kristaps Porzingis “Looks Uncomfortable” in Practice | Celtics Game 5
with a uh a personal question I me just what were your emotions on on Father’s Day um I don’t know it’s a good question I am trying to be as present as possible obviously with my uh father passing away recently it’s kind of uh I don’t know it’s it’s a hard thing to talk about but um I don’t know I’m I’m happy my my kids are they celebrated me today so that was pretty cool wife celebrated me today was pretty cool um um you know hoping my siblings are doing okay back home you know what that what is this like for you working on on this day um sucks to work on Father’s Day to be honest with you I mean you would think that’s the day where you get off you know but you know it is what it is um we’re here to win what that just the fact that you guys are here back on your own home floor able to potentially close this out what does this mean you guys to potentially be able to do it here on the park um that would be awesome you know obviously we have three more opportunities tomorrow being the first one and uh you know we’re going to Give It All We Got You know all we need is the fans to come in there and give us that energy um and we’re going to do the rest what do you expect this environment to be like come tomorrow night crazy I think I expect it to probably be crazy than game one cuz game one was crazy so I expect to be crazier than that set the bar pretty high huh no I mean this this is a organization in a in a ball club that they’ve wanted this for so long now that I feel like they’re ready for this moment more than anything did you uh you’ve heard the the 617 references and whatnot this being like tomorrow being the the 16th anniversary there of the the last Banner right this I didn’t hear that no yeah so it was 16 years to the day since uh yeah they beat the Lakers there so how uh kind of ironic would you look at that if you guys were able what a coincidence that’s all I going to say what a coincidence you um bring fresh eyes sort of to seeing Drew holiday as a teammate um as opposed to the saw him on the other side anything stand out to you about his meshing with his team and and what he does for any any team he is a very selfless player but he can still leave an impact on the court it’s very it’s very interesting to know that he was an All-Star last year and he’s at a he’s playing a role right now where you wouldn’t have known that he’s a he’s a guy who doesn’t get plays drawn for him but he’ll still have a night where he drops 26 points you know he’s a guy who makes all the little plays all the offensive rebounds all the back cuts the the extra passes uh he’s guarding the best offensive player usually while he’s out there um you know he’s a do- it all type of guy for sure you’ve played on a bunch of teams like how different is it to be in an environment where you’ve got not just drew but a bunch of selfless players um it’s been it’s been good it’s been good I feel like this team is super talented you know I feel like this team has so many different weapons and for us like the only way that we’re able to make it this far is for everybody to be selfless you know and so it’s been really cool to see guys like JT and JB make a play where they have two guys on them and kick it versus you know force it up because I mean they’re talented enough to make the shot but they feel as if you know that there’s a guy open we got to give him the ball we got to trust him do you have a routine after a game and does it change win to loss or do you just kind of stay that post game no I I usually ice my knees get in the norm tech boots go to bed then Joe talks about learning from wins the same way you learn from losses I just asked him about it he said you’re not perfect in wins either so you can learn from it what has it been like doing that under Joe is that something that coaches you’ve had throughout your career have done yeah I feel like Joe has done a good job of um bringing us back to zero sometimes you know when things go bad for us when adversity hits we kind of go way left and our emotions get crazy he does a really good job of like bringing us back to Zen bringing us back to zero and then he’ll attack the problem whatever we need to fix and work on and stuff like that so that we don’t feel like it’s a a personal thing just it’s a basketball thing and uh he’s been really good about that I feel like my last coaches in my life um they just jump right into the basketball portion not the person por like you know call me back down to Zen and he’s pretty different in that aspect so it’s pretty cool how strange is that trying to bounce back since it’s been more than a month since you guys have had to do so how what how strange is that trying to bounce back from A Loss in more I’ve lost a lot in my life so it’s it’s not just this one loss isn’t strange at all I feel like uh it’s it’s good in order for you to get that hunger back though when you take a loss you know that’s how you build from it and um you know you watch the film and you see the all the things that you know you could do better and you do your best to execute was there any U either message from Joe or other people on the team after game four that maybe there was more focus on winning a championship R than winning that individual game that came up at all say that last but again was there more was there any was there any talk about potentially being more focused on winning a championship rather than winning that one individual game in game four among whether from Joe or from the team there that maybe I think I think honestly you know in that in that game we all wanted to just get it done within game four you know we were like we made it this far we might as well try to capitalize and I think we might have put too much on it as far as you know pressure on ourselves to be perfect and stuff like that to where we were at the complete opposite so you know I feel like now a little mentality switched to you know we want to get it done but you know we have three more opportunities to do it so yeah it’s strange in these types of scenarios a team that’s down 3 0 has pressure every game because they lose and go home but when you when you when they win that first one it comes back here if there’s a loss in game five it has to go back to Dallas and things start to get uh you know a little bit more complicated is there extra pressure on you guys to wrap it up on on on Monday no we we play really really well on the road so there’s no extra pressure to wrap it up here we’d like to wrap it up here you know in front of our fans that would be nice but no there’s no extra pressure on that from your standpoint I think people at home can sit and watch TV and say why aren’t they playing harder and then you’re obviously on the court and you know what nobody’s trying to not play hard and finals so what do you think goes wrong when it looks like you’re not getting 50-50 balls or rebounds is it like a schematic thing is it like a contagious like frustration thing or why do you think sometimes it looks like you guys are playing really hard I think that contagious frustration is a real that’s a real thing that on the TV you probably couldn’t you probably can’t really see like it’s easy to see like the place you would think you know if you just put a little more effort you’d be able to get those but for us I feel like during that game going into it we all had the mentality up we’re trying to get it done right so with that mentality every time it didn’t go our way it felt like it was a double hit versus just a regular bucket it felt like oh shoot here we go now we got to dig ourselves out of this hole and it kept you know going from there so I feel like uh yeah we have to make sure that we stay present in the moment not think about anything else other than you know trying to win each and every quarter with porzingis being out uh how much more comfortable have you kind of grown into the the role you’re being asked to to play through the finals yeah uh comfortable for sure I feel like uh I’ve done a lot of you know watching from him and Al and figuring out like okay that’s the role of the fives when they step on the court as far as spacing as far as defensively and stuff like that um and he’s also done a good job of just kind of giving me like tidbit to like look for you know whether it’s offensively or def defensively too obviously not your decision you think you think we see him this series you think he’s going to make it back in play I mean we’ll see um obviously like they said it’s a it’s a rare leg injury so obviously if he’s going through excruciating pain where he can’t be his best you know it might not be worth it for did the whole team kind of have an idea that he was really a break class in case of emergency or maybe would come in in a rare circumstance in game four or since he was active might play um I don’t know I mean when we go through our practice and stuff like that he’s he’s doing some stuff but you could still tell that he’s very uncomfortable so like I said we don’t want to put him in any type of um uh situation that could really really hurt him you know do you see Improvement as each day goes on or it’s still kind of a tough thing yeah it’s been pretty much the same I’m and I’m not a trainer either so yeah I I I don’t really know how confident you are for the game tomorrow and what is the at when do you guys the last yeah I am uh very confident tomorrow um and that last game was the last game I feel like there’s a lot of different areas that we can improve on you know from protecting the paint from winning the battle on the rebounds and stuff like that and making sure that we uh neutralize you know Luca and Kyrie and shooting shots that we want them to shoot versus layups yeah all the way from Thailand to Boston here it’s like 20 fight 20 hours fight here oh wow yeah could you please stand a Tian on this phone right here yeah this all my fans in Thailand how youall doing thanks for checking in thanks for watching X it looks like you made like 303s before the last game when you’re were just warming up and just increasingly we watch you warm up all the time has that been a focus of yours to get better at shooting Corner threes in particular and are you working with anyone particular on the training staff yeah I’m working I’m working with DJ mle and um Jermaine buckin um those are my guys those are Buckner I’m sorry those are my guys um we work each and every day um since I’ve been here really up my threes um and they’ve given me a lot of confidence not necessarily like mechanically but just like on them seeing how well I shoot the ball and just preaching to me more and more that like when you’re on the court like you need to let it go like you’re good enough to do it like if you weren’t we let you know that but you’re good enough to let it go you got to let it go and know Charles Barkley say anything to you he kind of stopped behind you and watch you so I saw your video and um I didn’t know it was Charles when I was shooting I was just laughing and I heard I heard somebody say you know I bet you don’t make one tonight and I just you know she kept shooting kept shooting whatever whatever and I’m laughing and stuff like that and then I seen the video I’m like oh snap that was Charles that’s cool yeah a bit of random question I asked Sam this you hear guys around the league like Jimmy PA and Bruce Brown who really love country music does anybody who on the team has the most unique music taste unique music taste probably KP really yeah probably KP like what what was he like like uh house music you know you know like that uh I don’t even know it’s not like techno but you know uh Sam said luk really likes the Moana soundtrack ever throw that on for you guys at well he’s throwing it on me and him were in the waai room and obviously I have three kids myself so I know the soundtrack so you sing along with absolutely I I know the soundtrack I’ve heard the soundtrack at least 300 times in my life you have a favorite Mo song uh I guess it’s the I don’t even know the name of the song I guess I can I can tell you the scene in the movie where it is the scene is is watching her develop from like a young kid into like a teenager and they’re singing about like their family and their Village and how you know she needs to protect them because they’re going to protect her yeah you talked about like your postgame routine and and over the course of the Season players are kind of they like their routine they kind of get used to it how do you adjust to this and like their schedule thrown off and kind of theun of the final yeah good question I feel like it’s super super important to still do um like your as much of your routine as you can even through this part like when I get done with this I usually do like a little stretch before shoot because I’m like you still can’t just go out there and shoot cold and stuff like that you still got to protect your body so um it’s very important to make sure you stick to your routine you know cuz that’s what’s going to help you you know not necessarily this stuff right here yeah we’re not helping you we’re not good thank you
BOSTON — Celtics backup big man Xavier Tillman acknowledged that Kristaps Porzingis does not look like himself yet as he tries to return from a rare leg injury.

X☘️💪🏾 Id like to see him light it up at home
Kp wont be effective
Tillman will be a very important X factor in game 5.
Tillman seems like a genuinely sweet guy. Glad we got him!
Well Tillman looks uncomfortable in the game
Happy Fathers Day to Tillman. I recently lost my father as well, so I thought the question was a little insensitive. He put it in a good perspective though – thinking about his siblings and children. Go Celtics!!!!
How does this suck bruh u about to win a ring better get it together
He shouldn’t have said that
Good journey man player but not the guy we need to finish this off. I hope I'm wrong
That was short…
Indeed, we’re all fans
He might be a little too honest with the kp stuff
I could
