Batum at #1 and it’s not close, man did everything the team needed when they needed it

  2. Batum>Outlaw>Melo

And it’s pretty clear in my head

Was thinking about it yesterday about how Travis Outlaw’s run as our 4th quarter heroics guy got me back to being a big fan as a kid.

I’d honestly put Gerwald Wallace up there, I know he was a year but man what a year did he have in portland espically in the playoffs, I wish he could have stayed him, Aldridge and Brandon Roy could have been something.

Huh? I don’t get the point. Batum’s so obviously on another level from the other two.

As far as talent, I’d argue the Gerald Wallace was right there with Batum. He was just a bad fit, with LaMarcus taking up that power forward slot.

The ranking is inverse to how much they were a favorite of mine lol.

The ranking: 1. Batum, 2. Melo 3. TrOut

Who I loved the most: 1. TrOut 2. Melo 3. Batum.

TrOut is like, one of my top 5 favorite Blazers ever even though he wasn’t that good.

Melo wasn’t even a 3 when he was with us. 99% of the time he was exclusively a 4.

Nic started 76 games averaging 18 MPG’s in 08-09. Travis played 81games, starting 6, playing 28 MPG’s in 08-09. Travis played 60% of his career minutes in POR as the “PF”. Nic played 85% of his minutes in POR at SF.

Melo played 78% of his minutes at PF, and 14% of his minutes at C, when he was in POR.

So, Nic was the only SF in that group.

A better conversation is Batum, Kersey, and Gross.

E: That said, Batum over Outlaw and Melo any day.

Outlaw was cool till he fell in love with long 2s

  11. FractalFractalF

The correct answer is Jerome Kersey.

  12. 1. Batum

    2. Outlaw

    3. Melo

Outlaw and Melo are close in my mind but Batum clears them by miles. Outlaw was an incredible athlete but just wasn’t great at team basketball and didn’t have that great of defensive ability. His shooting was solid but low volume. He’d have great moments with some clutch shots and then absolutely shit the bed and make bone headed mistakes to go along with it.

Melo’s 3p shooting was really good here in Portland (40% combined over 2 seasons) and provided some good rebounding to go along with his overall scoring. But no defense or much else.
