I forgot about this dumb ass story. Calling them world champions isnât really accurate, but itâs also semantics when itâs by far the worldâs best basketball league.
For an entire month people were acting like Nikola Jokic was American, and team USA losing a completely different competition was evidence that the Nuggets couldnât claim it

What I find so funny about this whole “World Champions” debate is the fact that the NBA got the biggest hate for it when most people don’t even call them World Champions. I personally have never called the NBA Champions that, but the MLB literally calls their finals the World Series, a league where the best player is Japanese and won the baseball World Cup last year for Japan against the United States in the finals. I don’t see anything about them having to change their name because they aren’t the “best in the world”

the nba/mlb/nfl/nhl are the top leagues in the world for their sport by miles bc all the top players in the world play in those league. it don’t work like that in other sports like soccer because the top league in the uk or spain isn’t miles better than the top league in italy or germany

This is always such a dumb argument. The NBA is comprised of the best players from different countries all over the world. There is not a team from any league anywhere on the planet that could beat the best team in the NBA. They are world champs.
