[Sporting News] In the 7 years Jayson Tatum has been in the NBA, he has never missed a playoff game (played 113) and has missed only 41 of 554 regular season games. One of the most available stars of his generation. And he’s about to get the next biggest contract in NBA history.

This is the one thing I like about Tatum: Say what you will about his corniness, his inconsistency or the Kobe-ism, the dude always suits up and will always play. And with how many stars will load manage, rest, etc., I can respect that he’s always going to play if his body permits it.

Yeah but have you considered that nba twitter thinks he’s a fraud?????

Today we’re obsessed with the Finals MVP so maybe scale this back a few days when we’ve all mostly forgotten about it

Now I would like to see someone turn the old saying “Availability is the best ability” into something negative just so they can hate on Tatum.

  5. CloneWarsMaul

Availability is somehow becoming the most underrated ability these days

I was gonna say he turned his ankle in game 7 last year vs heat BUT HE STAYED IN THE GAME! What a mad dog!

Showing up for the fans in seats. Always found that admirable

Tatum is a great player but im worried about how they’re gonna build around him after he takes up a lot of the teams cap. I don’t think he’s elite unless there’s a really good squad around him. He’d be an amazing number 2 though

And people still put embiid ahead of him. Unreal slander for a top 3 player in the nba

And he has his own Ruffles. HIS OWN CHIPS

  12. ObiOneKenobae

I can feel the jinx building and I hate it.

He’s got pretty much the exact body type that doesn’t get a lot of injuries. 6’8-6’9 is kind of the tallest you can be and never have to worry about injuries. Taller than that you have issue and shorter than that has a injuries. Lebron is much stockier than Tatum, but similar height

    With a career 20.1 PER.

Even old man LeBron had a higher PER (23.7) than Jayson Tatum (22.3) this season.

Is Tatum overrated and about to be hugely overpaid?

I’m already wondering if Tatum and JB will be satisfied with this ring and their fat contracts and perhaps not win again for a long time. They both have career PERs of players that don’t sustain success (20.1 and 16.8).

This is pretty impressive considering Tatum’s career has mostly consisted of deep playoff runs. I’m sure that takes a heavy toll.

It’s also an interesting foil to the weird narrative people have crafted about their road to a championship being one of the easiest ever. They definitely had some favorable draws, but you still have to play the games.

This is why I don’t understand his hate lol. Say he’s corny or whatever, fine. He’s chill, he’s a good dude, and he *really* cares about the fans. He’s said he owes it to the fans to get out here and play. That the fans paid money to see him, and taking days off to rest and shit is unfair. That’s a very rare attitude to have in the modern NBA. He respects yall way more than your favorite player does and you hate him for it.

  17. Western-Variation524

He might “Availability” his way into the top 7.

  18. GildedAgeFlowerChild

He’s about as reliable for the Celtics as Tom Brady was for the Pats. Just a resilient motherfucker.

  19. WembyCommas

Tatum has to be the most likable but hated on player in the NBA.

Man seems like a great guy, hard worker, humble, team player. But every time he’s mentioned its negative lol.

  20. Difficult_Collar4336

I don’t think a single award has increased a players HoF chances as much as this one. Immediately went from relative long shot to near lock.

  21. BarnOwlDebacle

Yes seriously, look at the fact that people were complaining about them having to face teams with injuries and then remember that this guy doesn’t get injured.

  22. BarnOwlDebacle

People are trying to say Tatum was like a glorified Tobias Harris when in fact he is in basically the small forward equivalent of Tim Duncan.
