Breaking: Pascal Siakam returning to Indiana Pacers 🚨 ‘A No-Brainer’ – Zach Lowe | Get Up

all right we are back on get up here as we approach the bottom of the hour we do have this breaking news Brian wior told us to expect to see a bunch of teams resigning their own guys now that the finals are done and here’s the first of those according to W Pascal SE yakum intends to sign a 4year $1 189.5 million contract to return to the Pacers he will sign that deal officially once the free agency moratorium ends on July 6th let me get a very quick take from the guys here again madg rejoins us for a conversation we’ll have in a minute Indiana had a really nice year they made a nice playoff run they lose halberton at the end they wind up getting swept with seaka back and another year and all that kind of stuff are they a legitimate threat to make a Deep Run maybe an NBA finals next year definitely think so you get the guys back you get him healthy and then you also have a guy seaka who’s been to the championship and a fast-paced team who like to run the ball up and down the floor but you got a guy when you slow it down you can throw it into to him he’s going to be efficient he’s going to get you a bucket I think they get better next year but the East also gets better right so as we we sit here right now Zach and obviously next year is a very long way off but we start naming the teams we could see being you know the biggest threats to Boston and the East should we mention Indiana I mean they just made the Conference Finals so we should mention them I think finals is a stretch when you’ve got Boston still sitting there and who and Milwaukee could get better and healthy Philly could get better and healthy we’ll see how the Knicks I think if they just stayed healthy would probably have beaten Indiana but this is a very good team this is a no-brainer once you make this trade and you see he fits this is baked into the trade you gonna at Stephen A about this later yeah we’ll probably get into it and you guys are both right I think I don’t think Indiana’s a finals team I don’t think they’re a championship team but they’re a 5152 win team and they could be a game or two against the Celtics but the Celtics are still the big favorite in Eastern Conference [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause]

Mike Greenberg, Zach Lowe and the Get Up crew react to Adrian Wojnarowski’s report that all-star forward Pascal Siakam has signed a new 4-year/$189.5M contract with the Indiana Pacers.

  1. Not sure about the dollar amount, but congrats to Pascal. The Pacers overachieved this year, and it's gonna be good to see what they do going forward.

  2. I mean he isn't that much worse than Jaylen Brown, but it seems weird for a guy who isn't an All-Star to get paid 50M/year after age 30

  3. He can play respectable defense against KD Tatum or Giannis.. inevitably getting the max but i was hoping the Knicks would get him at a discount

  4. Pascal is a good player. Would I offer him a max? I guess is really dependent on the franchise if I’m Indianapolis I guess I do it to aid in the development of Haliburton, but do I expect them to be more than a second round exit or maybe a conference finalist if the cookie crumbles properly is probably the ceiling.

  5. He's a step below the NBA superstars. He's a very good player. I'm from Toronto and he had attitude problems. I guess I'm just disgusted that a slightly above average player will have made over 330 million when this contract expires. Glad Raptors traded him.
