Indiana Pacers Pre-Draft Workouts: Tristen Newton Media Availability (June 18, 2024)

how do you feel like things been for you here today um I mean I think they did all right uh obviously you know you always thought you can play better um you know overall I feel it was a good workout but myself personally I feel I done a lot better but it was good work today how many of you had workout wise on this cycle so far this is my 12th one and what’s your like what have you thought of all that after that title run you have to just immediately be flowing into workouts every day hotels what’s that process been like for I mean it’s it’s been fun you know um you know I’m I’m blessed to be able to go to all these places and meet all these people you know show my skill skill set in front front of these amazing uh NBA executive so uh you know I’m just blessed and you know I’m having fun so many guys from that team doing this process at the same time as you how often do you talk with donov C all uh you know we’re all focused on all we got going on we we checking in with each other uh every here and there uh so you know those those are my brothers so uh you know I’m going to call them as soon as this whole thing’s over you know before the draft you know obviously Donan and step they’re going to be in the The Green Room we’re going to watch that and you know um you know just excited to see where these guys go what are you been trying to prove about yourself in your game in these workouts um pretty much that my my skill set can translate to the next level uh you know trying to show show that I’m a better shooter than the num show and trying to trying to play make and play great defense what did it mean to you to to come from East Carolina and then transfer up to Yukon these last couple years and and pro you can kind of run the show and and contribute to a winner the way you did yeah you know I’ve always felt like I I belong at the big stage and um you know I’m thankful for Coach ear and coach kamani for recruiting me to Yukon and uh let me showcase my abilities out there and you know uh thank for my brothers out there that I play with every every night uh without them you know I wouldn’t be here so I’m just glad and blessed that I was able to Showcase my my skill set speaking of Coach Hurley I asked K the same thing when he was here just when it comes to the style of offense style of play obviously he interviewed for a pro job how do you think the way you guys played will help you transition into the pros yeah for sure um you know Pros they already have their star guys already um the way we play We’re selfless you know we pass the ball we learn how to cut we learn how to move and not just uh stand there and play ISO ball so um I feel like we’ll all be ready for the next level you know um when when the star players dribble in catch uh swings it to you quickly be ready to shoot you know back when uh possible you saw Andre this year he was able to get put backs and back cuts and you know screen and do his job and you know Jordan he he’s one of a kind so you know his his shooting translates anywhere so uh coach Harley and Coach Luke they did a great job with the offense and it’s really going to help us at the next level how many more workouts you have scheduled three I believe yeah I have three so where you going yeah uh I’m going I’m going to Philly today uh then I have Minnesota and New York with a dozen so far did anything stand at you about this one compared to some of the other workouts you’ve done um this is the first workout we’ve done transition drills like one on uh two on1 one on2 and you know things like that we did that at Yukon so uh it was it was just different to see how you know other players navigate through that uh we did a certain way at Yukon so uh it just it’s just uh interesting to see how people navigated but this one was pretty cool I like the way uh the competition was good today and uh had fun we’ve seen already two Pacers players watching has that been common to you on this Trail to see some guys from the roster watching was that youv here as well yeah I mean some people uh come in you know they get their work in before and then uh if they’re there they just uh stand around and watch so um it wasn’t unique I mean these are the first guys that really sat down and watched but uh I mean it’s pretty cool to see the support and you know maybe their future teammates whoever uh you know the pat draft or you know get uh it’s intered to see how cuz you know I was talking to the front off they say like a Brotherhood here so you know them coming out and watching you know entally your next teammate uh you know plays is really good with you being an older guy like how what are you trying to prove about yourself off the court and how you can be able to be ready for the pros um you know I’m very mature um I know how to handle things um you know I don’t the spotlight is not going to get to me and uh you know help out in the community do things like that uh you know when you’re younger and everything you may want to go party and do all this other stuff but you know older you’ve done that been there done that um solve our business now so so uh so what I’m trying to Showcase I’m I’m locked in and and ready for you know next level what stands out to about the Celtics and what made them so good for that title where they just had uh just other pieces you know I feel like the the key piece of Drew holiday you know his defense is guard the best player uh you know getting offensive rebounds and you know making Tomy shots him Derek white you know obviously Tatum and and Jaylen Brown they’re the star players but you know they have great role players uh PT prer comes in he does what he does you know forz when he was able to play out for they just had a lot of pie and able to play so well together you did a bit of everything you know you had quite a few triple was in your career just how do you feel like that versatility will help you make it to the next level yeah I feel like it’ll help a lot you know I can I can contribute to the game in so many ways there’s not just one thing I could do it’s not like I just have to go out there and score you know I can play defense I could get assists rebounds you know steals I can do pretty much everything on the court so I feel like uh being versatile and not one dimensional would really help me a lot
