just search locked on Wizards here as we are right around the corner from the NBA draft where the Wizards hold the number two overall pick and a couple others a little bit later on in the draft proceeding so let’s start right here Brandon what are the Wizard’s kind of biggest needs biggest roster needs ahead of the NBA draft and how should those needs kind of play into what they ultimately do with the number two overall pick oh good question man um looking at needs for the right now and in the long-term future you’re looking at point guard you’re looking at Center and eventually looking at Power fourward because eventually you’re going to have to trade Kyle kman at some point so you need a guy at the power forward position that can fill that slot long term so that’s kind of where we’re at um you underw Daw is with uh head coach Brian Keith they like versatility so we we’re going to be looking at guys who could be play multiple positions you know so looking at this draft there’s a lot of guys who can do that so yeah I mean it feels like it’s kind of one of those rough like you know draw the cards things where you Wizards jump up they get the number two well they get the number two overall pick in a draft that’s widely regarded as kind of a a weaker draft an eye of the beholder draft if you will so kind of you know with so many rumors swirling about about what what the Hawks may do at number one the Wizards at number two hell the rockets at number three I mean it kind of feels like you know we don’t know what any of these teams are are leaning towards doing but as it stands right now does it feel like the Wizards are leaning towards keeping that pick and making the selection at number two or kind of open to trading the pick either by trading down in the draft and recouping you know an additional asset or two or by trading out of the draft completely um number two for right now the front office has shown that they’re going to stay in Pat now I can see them trading back into the lottery and packaging a player like Kyle kosma with our 26th overall pick and maybe going back into the lottery because um like you said a lot of people are down on this draft and if you’re continuing team yeah you’re you’re trying to flip that pick because you need a new a guy who’s going to come in immediately you know provide starting minutes where this is a highly developmental draft where if you’re a team like the Wizards where you’re in year two of a rebuild you know you like a draft like this because you know scouting department is revamped you got a head coach who has shown that he can develop young Talent so this is perfect for the wizard so I could see them trade back um if you didn’t see the news you you know right now there’s talks obviously Atlanta trying to get the fourth and eighth pick from San Antonio that would be something I would love to see the Wizards do because again I would love to come out come out of this draft with three to four young prospects well ultimately Atlanta kind of holds all the cards right now with with you know what they ultimately decide to do with that number one overall pick whether they keep it and draft somebody number one or if they do you know a trade down scenario like you just alluded to the the rumors about potentially trading with San Antonio for four and eight who are you hoping is on the board at least when it comes time for the Wizards to make their selection with the number two overall pick assuming they keep that pick oh Alex are easy I mean you know we a seven-footer who’s very versatile you know he’s very Swift on his feet you know the offense is you know H high potential with his offensive side the ball but he’s raw you know he’s going to need development but his offensive side is just oozing with potential and with him being a rim rim protector in seven-footer you know he you know we need a guy who’s going to rim protect you know our biggest issues this previous season was rebounding and interior defense well defense overall but interior defense so alexar is definitely a guy that I like because again at s foot he play center but you know his his comp is jiren Jackson Jr from the Memphis Grizzly so you know a lot of people see him at the four and you know with previous uh second round pick last year in Tristan vich and hopefully we grab another seven-footer for the center of the future you know looking at a lineup in two years where you know at the four and five you could potentially have two guys at seven feet who can stretch the floor and rimp teack I mean he’s looking really good for the Wizards long term in your eyes is Alex SAR the type of prospect that you would like to maybe see the Wizards potentially move up and and you know orchestrate a type of trade potentially with the Hawks maybe you know if if that deal with you know the rumored reported deal falls through with the San Antonio Spurs rather than kind of letting the Hawks kind of play chicken with that number one overall pick it’s all a big kind of bluffing game who has the the the trade negotiation leverage who doesn’t all that stuff but could you see a world where alexar would be worth giving up you know a future protected first round pick or something to move up that one spot and guarantee you can grab him at number one no I don’t see that as happening because you know this front office they’re very reluctant on parting ways with any future draft assets I mean if they make a trade it’s going to be for you know expiring contract or a veteran guy on team fre deal like Kyle kma um you know because Jordan po right now his value is very low right now so Kyle kma is that guy who’s the most tradeable asset so I wouldn’t see them trade up the number one I think they’re going to go with whatever way the Atlanta goes if they go withar U Ras is an option but I look more of them probably take U picking up Donan cayon because that’s 73 and 280 pounds we need a center a franchise Center who he’s got the NBA body 280 lbs you know you can be able to handle a lot of the centers in his league and you know his offensive side is still developing but he’s shown the willingness to add that three-point shot and add that mid-range and he’s already shown that he can play with his back to the basket so Dominick clinging would be my guy if we don’t get alexar I I know that there was some you know a little bit of reporting some rumors out there that there might even be a possibility of alexar sliding to number three for the Houston Rockets and I was like man sign me up for that I’m all over that if that happens I can’t imagine a world where alexar slides past number two if he’s there I think he’s more than likely to pick for the wizards but we did talk about the idea of maybe the Wizards potentially trading back down in this current draft are there any reports any rumors about some potential deals that the Wizards have maybe had discussions or other teams that they’d be looking at you know entertaining a trade down scenario with um I haven’t heard much from the organization as yet of trading back or even trading back into the lottery but I will say this um you they they this new front office is very crafty and they they shown last year that they can find Value and find these Diamonds in the Rough you know picking up B kabali picking up trist Vish in the second round so they’re going to they’re they’re looking at every possible outcome in this draft because again you know a lot of people loan this draft but this is a perfect developmental draft and like I said um development in DC hasn’t always been a big concept right you know we struggled in the draft year after year but now with the new front office of Will Dawkins Michael Wier and Travis schlank you know in the new revamped scouting Department there’s a lot of confidence as far as not only scouting talent but developing Talent especially when you know new head coach Brian Keefe is known for his development where he’s getting kudos for players like KD and sgaa so it says a lot about what the direction is so um I could definitely see them trading back into the lottery but you know like like you said before um I don’t see them moving up to one but I I could definitely definitely see them potentially moving up in the lottery because like I said Kyle kman is a very tradable asset you know his contract is Team friendly not only for the wizards but for any team that might want to add a a score and not break the bank to do so so you know Detroit you know I wouldn’t totally dismiss that because he’s from nearby uh Flint Michigan that that as an option but I look more so of number 13 in Sacramento I see as a perfect spot for kman maybe uh for us also to pick up not only the 13th pick but maybe a young guard and Davon Mitchell and aspiring contract and Trey lyes Miami at 15 is intriguing I know Memphis at number nine they needed another piece to kind of win now so those are a couple picks that I would look forward to like if they make the decision to trade back into lottery I would definitely keep your eye on number nine and number 13 a lot of different possibilities for the future for Kyle kozma maybe a little bit less so for for Jordan P what do you think the future kind of holds for him because as you already alluded to right the the kozma contract sit situation right he’s on a team friendly deal it’s actually uh in it decreases in value over these next three seasons so it’s a super Team friendly contract you know relative to his production for whatever team potentially picks on a Jordan pool a little bit less so that contract maybe one of the worst in the NBA right now does it feel like there’s a you know a pressing need for the Wizards to move on from Jordan pool or is it kind of one of those situations where hey you’re just going to need you know I guess a a pseudo tank commander if you will for these next couple Seasons while while the Wizards are in kind of development rebuild mode well it’s kind of a gray area with Jordan P because number one I mean he’s still young he hasn’t even hit his prime yet and he’s shown that he play at a high level in the NBA so you know I I was like a lot of wizards fans and people in organization they were very excited when they acquired him from Golden State because he’s shown that he can score now long-term outcome of DC is probably a point guard because we were number one in pace so we need an offense that’s going to go fast and tyus Jones was a perfect floor General but Jordan p with the ball in his hands I think was looked really good with a fast off offense but you know the other Flip Flip Side of the coin is yeah it behooves the Wizards to get him right because if he’s not part of the long-term future even if you look at the contract he has no value right now so you know if if you’re Preston getting rid of him you’re gonna have to attach a pick to get rid of him but I I one of those people that I think that he could be a long-term piece because not only because of on the court performance because look in the first half of the Season he struggled and he got smoked from every major Sports Outlet in the country and the fact that you know um Brian Keef came in inter m co changed some things you know moved him to six-man and it showed that when he has the ball in his hands and he can dictate Pace um he shown that he he good role of him as six- man and then when tyus Jones went down and he became a starting point guard the offense flowed better you know it was faster transition they were killing defense on transition so I mean he’s shown that the middle side because you know as we know you know young players confidence is a big thing with young players you know especially if you look at Ross with Denny you know was a confidence player and he’s shown that he could take the heat so he impressed me a lot with that so I think he could be a long-term piece but I’ll see the flip side of coin you know if he gets his value up especially as a starter or six man because on on a contending team I see him more as a a six-man on the contending team but if we if we bring that value up he very well could be a trade piece you know the deadline or Pi next year what will the Washington Wizards do in this year’s NBA draft will they make a selection at pick number two or will they trade it you’re goingon to have us cover for all of that and so much more over at locked on Wizards Brandon thanks for stopping by locked on NBA with 1. Jordan Paul will be traded either this off-season or at the train in Lynn next year. He is not on piece you’re in a rebuild. This means there’s only three pieces on this team three players right now that will be on the team that’s Denni and two kids they draft last year

  2. I have to push back on Brandon’s proposed Kyle Kuzma for the 13th pick & Davion Mitchell trade.

I’ve heard Brandon say this before and I’m not sure why he’s stuck on trading Kyle Kuzma to the Kings for pennies on the dollar🤷🏾‍♂️. Kuzma has 3 years left on a very team friendly declining contract so why is Brandon in such a rush to trade him without getting proper value in return (doesn’t make sense) 🤷🏾‍♂️.

Miami, Warriors, San Antonio Detroit, OKC, etc, all rumored to have interest in Kuzma. OKC, Detroit,& San Antonio can provide a better return in this year‘s draft so again, why is he so stuck on trading with the Sacramento Kings for the 13th pick? I just don’t get it.

Davion Mitchell is short & still undeveloped. He simply doesn’t fit the mold of what the Washington wizards front office says that they’re looking to add🤷🏾‍♂️.
