[Fischer] Utah is willing to engage in trade talks that would part ways with Jazz second-year center Walker Kessler.

Hartenstein, at this moment, is now generally expected to return to New York, as the Knicks have contacted opposing teams about moving Mitchell Robinson, sources said. There appears to be a wide range of starting-caliber big men available for trade. League personnel told Yahoo Sports the Bucks are open to reshaping their roster, and they are gauging the trade value for Brook Lopez. Houston, sources said, cautioned Lopez that re-signing with Milwaukee could very well lead to him eventually being traded when the Rockets pursued Lopez in free agency a year ago. Atlanta, sources said, continues to pursue deals for veteran center Clint Capela, who’s entering the final year of a contract that still owes the 30-year-old rim protector $22 million. Rival teams believe Utah is willing to engage in trade talks that would part ways with Jazz second-year center Walker Kessler. And the Detroit Pistons are evaluating the market for Isaiah Stewart, according to league sources.

This saga has been so strange.

The Jazz responded to Kessler finishing 3rd in RotY voting by immediately trying to replace him with Porzingis, failing to do that, getting John Collins instead, and benching Kessler for John Collins.

They just really do not like him at all and have never liked him and I don’t get it.

But why? His value has never been lower and he had a great rookie year

I knew I should have made my Jazz tattoo smaller, that laser removal is gonna cost a shit ton now. Fuck.

  4. My heart: this is BS rumor mongering. The Jazz would never trade away my favorite tall man

My head: I’m not a GM and have no idea what value is actually out there

There’s gotta be something behind the scenes we don’t know about. He’s young with a ton of potential and value, seems to be a good locker room guy too. I know that Hardy/Kessler had a confrontation at some point last year, but I’d have to believe that they’ve moved past it by now. I thought Kessler played well when he was on the court last year, but it was weird that they axed his minutes.

Missing is “rival teams believe”. I’ve thought that Kessler was likely to be moved but this isn’t anything based in truth, just other people’s opinions.

Jazz gonna draft Edey, I’m calling it

I really believe that Kessler can come back from his sophomore slump with a proper offseason. But at the same time, I can totally understand if Utah wanted to go in a different direction though even if it didn’t make sense on the surface.

Yes, Kessler’s stock is pretty low. I know it takes centers a little more time to develop and he’s just 22… but there are also good options in the draft that are younger and may have more upside.

If Utah really likes Clingan, I think they try and leapfrog Memphis for him (if he makes it past Houston). I could see Utah liking Kel’el Ware or even Yves Missi later in the draft as well.

I’m sure he’s moveable in the right deal.

But “rival teams believe” makes it pretty clear there’s no substance behind this. Just people looking at the roster and saying “yeah I think he’s probably not untouchable”.

Can definitely see the jazz moving Kessler for the right deal. We didn’t draft him and Hardy and the front office seem to really value spacing, given we traded for Collins and chased porzingis. If we do trade him Bitadze would be an adequate starting C that we can pick up in FA

If they decide to move Walker, what would a deal look like to you?

Being a Jazz fan is rough. Just feels like the league wants us to be a bottom dweller feeding the big markets. Always “who can the Jazz give us.” Then when we’re competitive “they’re not legit.”

    It’s straight up bullying.

If they trade kessler, I will be very, very sad.

Part of why he wasn’t that good is that John Collins occupies a lot of the same space that Kessler occupies on offense. Solution is to get rid of Collins not Kessler, unless they get good positive value in return.

I will say that it’s a bit of a red flag that Kessler didn’t seem to impress much on team USA at the World Cup last summer.

If the Jazz draft a big at 10 with the type of talent available at more scarce positions I’m gonna be so mad.

Now, drafting a big at 28… that’s a Dennis Lindsey special right there. Still not interested.

Was being on Team US the switching point?
