[Fischer] The Chicago Bulls reportedly requested four unprotected picks in exchange for Alex Caruso during previous trade negotiations, per @JakeLFischer

From Fisher's article:

“The Bulls engaged several teams over the past 18 months that were willing to sacrifice first-round draft capital for Caruso, sources said, while Chicago characteristically pushed for unprotected picks and as many as four firsts in some of those conversations. Chicago also refused to include Caruso in deals that would have offloaded Zach LaVine, sources said.”

This trade was a highway robbery for us.

Considering the state of the two teams and the contract situations for Josh and Alex, I think it was probably a good trade for each team. I think that both players are better off on the teams they ended up on.

This makes me think there was an alternative trade and it became “take it or lose it.”

I think I figured out what happened with Giddey.

Bulls wanted Giddey and picks for AC. I’d be agreeable if it was only a single first and/or second(s).

Utah, WAS, SAS, and maybe other teams with bad PG play were interested as well. Probably had a few options on the table.

Sam tells the Bulls he’s about to do Giddey and a pick for Sexton or whatever deal he had set up and he likes that trade better than Giddey and picks for AC so the Bulls have to give him their best offer.

The Bulls really like Giddey so they make AC for Giddey straight up.

Clearly nobody was willing to give up four picks for Caruso. Just because you ask for it doesn’t mean he’s worth that. A young, high-potential player like Giddey seems like a pretty good haul.

The only loss for us on this trade is Giddey’s amazing hair for a baldy.

    Four first round picks!?!?

That’s almost one whole Josh Giddey. Fare thee well my sweet maned King

I think people don’t understand giddey was in a worse position then Westbrook on the lakers, he was barely allowed to do any of the things he’s good at on a regular basis , he had a superstar and a all star level ball dominant player above him in the ball handling duties and he had too much ego to come off the bench , which basically left him in a role where he stands in the corner every play (which left him only able to utilize his worst skills ). I wouldn’t be suprised if he goes crazy in the future and makes the trade look dumber than it looks now
