How do we feel about Holmes?

Its the right position to be using our pick and by all scouting reports, there is potential to be a solid off the bench guy.

Am I the only one who thinks this is just Zeke Nnaji all over again?

What if his three point shooting was an aberration this season and he’s more like the 30 percent shooter he was his first two seasons?

What if his playmaking is overstated?

What if he spends almost no time playing with Jokic and is just another undersized out-of-position young player we try to shoehorn into the backup C spot?

  3. Really like the player, think he’s a good fit, would rather prioritize a bench ball handler/scorer, which is why I’ve been pushing Baylor Scheierman.

Feel like a bench big is easier to add for cheap in free agency and the KCP situation has me a little worried.

I feel like he’s getting picked about 10 picks earlier

I wouldn’t have a problem with him as a pick. Filipowski would be good too, or Ke-lel Ware out of Indiana. Shooting and rebounding should be priorities. Holmes showed pretty tremendous improvement in shooting during his three years.

I think it’s tremendously unlikely he could make a difference next season or even two seasons from now. TBF, that’s likely true for every possible player we could draft so I’m not singling Holmes out in particular. He’s got an intriguing skill set – I like the idea that he operates in space in an atypical to the eye fashion. But we fans should be ready, if we don’t trade the pick, for the player not to be a factor next season. It just doesn’t work that way at the level of play the Nuggets expect to operate at.

I’d be excited about this pick, but don’t expect it to happen. I feel like he’s gonna get pick much earlier.

I honestly hope we trade our picks in a deal for a veteran player. I’ve always been someone that gets super into the draft, and have always been excited about the idea of adding fresh talent to the roster, but this is the first year where I think I’d be happier if we don’t add more young players to this team.

Maybe it’s because all three of our rookies from last year’s class were useless in the playoffs. I just feel we need to be doing everything we can to go all in over these next few years, and I don’t see how drafting another 20-year-old helps us do that.

There are exceptions where rookies can come in and contribute right away, like CB did or how Derek Lively did for the Mavs. And if Booth & Co think they can get a guy like that, I’m all for it. But I’m skeptical we will find that this year.

Very awkward if he get picked before the nuggets and don’t fit

I think priority #1 is to try and use this pick in a Zeke or Zeke+Reggie trade to get some veteran bench help because 5 players with 3 years or less experience on a contending team is probably already too much youth. That said, the 28th pick in a bad draft probably is not very valuable, so if the Nuggs have to keep it I think Holmes is a good option. Provide some scoring and rebounding for the 2nd unit, eat up enough minutes that Jokic isn’t burnt out by the end of the regular season, and sit on the bench during the playoffs. Perfect role for a rookie.

I am starting to worry that Holmes will be gone by the 28th pick. Sounds like he is moving up some draft boards. Hopefully at least one of Holmes and Filipowski are there at 28 (again, assuming they keep the pick).

My last name is Holmes, so I’d for sure be buying that jersey lol

  11. He will be picked just before the Nugs like Anunoby from a few years ago, watch

  12. They will draft a “foreign” player who no one knows much about but within 3-4 seasons will be quite good

  13. Stormeve

I would like for them to not do any OG-esque shenanigans, pretty please. I saw them mulling trading down and, uh, no. The Tyler Lydon incident does not need to be repeated, but wtf do I know

To all that think he is too much like Zeke Nnaji, he is what the Nuggets were hoping/trying to turn Nnaji into. Currently Nnaji is forcing a play style that the Nuggets want and need but it isn’t him. In Zeke’s first two seasons he was a shooter, with over half of his shots coming from 3pt range. After year 2 they tried building him into the player we needed, but that didn’t fit his playstyle. He almost took more 3’s in year 2 alone than in years 3 and 4 combined. Drafting Holmes would be like drafting a Nnaji right now, but a better passer, scorer, defender, rebounder, and more physical. That being said I think he likely goes higher than 28th.

My fave pick if they stay at 28 I don’t think he’ll drop that far though (more likely to be taken somewhere from 21-25)

If not Holmes then I’d be good with Jaylon Tyson or Filipowski – would prefer either over another option like Baylor Scheierman or Tyler Smith at 28

  16. New_Essay_4869

Not sure how trustworthy but he reportedly has a promise from OKC who own the 12th pick

  17. Anything but Nnaji. If we manage to get rid of Nnaji in the draft i would say would be the greatest move

I don’t know how to feel about Daron size. He’s undersize for the C position, but he’s very skilled. I’m open to be surprise by him on setting with strongest and bigger guys pushing him around.

I love he got hops, great hands, great PnR option as roller and popper, smart passer too. Don’t care about his age and potential. He’s barely 21 or 22 y/o. I see at lot of grow potential.

He lack size, i don’t like his lateral movement. I’m not convince on his defense as a whole. His movement, his 1v1 on the post. I see at lot of potential for the blocks thanks to his legs, but anything else’s is just a work in process.

Until we get a 2nd all star who cares?

  19. zoeyversustheraccoon

I’m worried that he’ll get picked earlier.

If we actually play a backup center I don’t think it matters who it is. Our problem is paying a total of 3 back up centers (1 was injured) and never playing them.
