Kendrick Perkins Responds to Rumors: ‘COWARD’

Kendrick Perkins former Celtic great obviously champion in 2008 current analyst on ESPN perk how you doing we missed you at the parade on Friday how y’all doing good how are you doing was the parade for 2008 or was it for 2024 apparently they invited a lot of the old 08 Champions back for the parade and there was some words scal seemed to imply there that you’re not welcome back so can you sh any light on that oh was Scout doing that for clicks I don’t know I know I think he was just saying what he what he believes okay well I mean look at the end of the day here here’s the thing let me say this about scale right right now I feel like scale is a coward okay because if you go if you go publicly to say something like that and I’ll reach out to you privately at least call me back like I work in the media space too I say a lot of things on a day-to-day basis I get a lot of calls from coaches GM’s players I don’t duck their phone call we have grown men conversation about what I said on app that’s number one number two was I the only 2008 member missing from the duckboat no I wasn’t I mean e house my guy he was there Leon po great guy my great friend of mine as well he was there scow was there and Paul was there it was still 11 other guys missing and to be honest with you if I would have got an invite which I didn’t I didn’t know we was supposed to but anyway nine times out of 10 I would have turned it down and it’s not because I don’t have love for the city of Boston because I do it’s not because I don’t have love for the organization because I do I love with gr spe I love Steve P Lea but that’s not our moment that’s 2024 moment I I mean like let those guys have their moment right that’s that’s number two uh number three what people don’t realize is this when I was traded from Boston believe it was 2010 2011 season do you realize that I haven’t been back to that organization since I was traded when it comes down to anything anything outside of like if it wasn’t work related not that I don’t have love but I closed that chapter of my life right I closed the chapter of my life in basketball period I get invites to go to Cleveland Cavalier events I get invites to go to Oklahoma City the Oklahoma City Thunder events and it’s not it’s not like I don’t have love for those organizations but I put the basketball uh phase of life behind me that story that chapter is closed in my book I moved on to my new career and I focused on that um and then you know with the open invite for us all access P open house like are they going to open the doors for me well I never went knocking at the doors okay I never went knocking at the doors I never pulled up to the house so how can they be Clos again I love the organization I love Wick I love Steve puger corre Maxwell Sean Grandy they both great friends of mine Jeff twist who’s been there for a long long time great friend of mine Johnny Joe who works back and handles all the things behind the scenes when it comes down to the jerseys the equipment managing things great love for all those people but I’m past that now and I just don’t understand why I got to be held to a standard or why I gota uh people got to make me feel like that I have to owe my life to that organization when that’s not the case k so first of all I I don’t just to clarify the scal part I I don’t he wasn’t taking shots or anything he was just I think he and his partner were talking about who’s coming back for the parade and your name came up and scal said I don’t think he’s welcome not saying like that was his caller that you shouldn’t be welcome but he was just sort of saying I think there’s a thing there so yeah but it’s his show it’s his show right it’s him and Frank a solo show so they they do their production meeting and they come up with the topics you see what I’m I’m saying so that didn’t have to be said again the reason that I said scal is a coward is because I if that’s the way you felt and that’s what you’re saying is maybe to be true I don’t know this it might be I don’t know but if you feel that way okay you saying it publicly but when I call you you don’t pick up and then you tell me you going to call me later and you never want to have a grown man conversation about it and you always pick up any other time I got a problem with that so Kendrick just to be clear had you heard about the comment before today yeah okay yeah and I and I and I literally thought about back and forth because I literally thought about going at scale seriously in in a whole another way but I didn’t um publicly but I didn’t I said you know what I’m I’m I’m not going to go that low with him and I and I left it at that but yeah I heard I I I heard the comments there had a lot of people reaching out to me matter of fact a lot of people from Boston reaching out to me so then you you then called him he didn’t pick up but he sent you a message back yeah he sent me a message back and said hey I’mma call you later I never received a call from that was two days ago so I’m like any other time you call me back any other time you pick up the phone but right now I feel like you’re ducking me I got a problem with that we can’t have a grown man conversation do you feel so you don’t know whether the team shut you out or not if they did you know if they would have invited you back with everybody else but they’re not going to because of your commentary on ESPN how would you feel about that I mean you you know at the end of the day to each his own to each of their own but I never I never had love loss when they traded me you know me with grpc and Steve P we still great friends I never you know uh felt any type of way but if they feel some type of way about anything I said uh in the media uh you know my phone is always open you know uh even when it goes back to the Joe maula uh uh the bird brain comment right it was but it was too it was a whole uh clip but everybody pointed out that side of it so let me give you the side let me tell you what I said on I said on I said it’s two sides it’s two it seems like we get two vergins of Joe moua one version is he looks like at times the best basketball coach in the league and then I said it’s times like right now because the Celtics were playing horrible basketball during that period of that game at the half time I said it seemed and then this this side where it seem like if you take his brain and put it in the bird the bird is going to start flying backwards so I didn’t label him as that side I said there two sides of him right now was it a little harsh when I think about it absolutely but again it’s not a I’m not running from what I said you know and I gave Joe Missoula a lot of flowers when they actually want it it’s on my Twitter I was wrong about him his philosophy his system it did work and it proved me wrong and a lot of people wrong because I didn’t believe that style of play could win you a championship you’re critical of a lot of teams a lot of players do you hear more from Celtics fans and media about your commentary than other teams or is it just like every other team I do I do um but but here’s the thing right I TR like I can’t be a homer and the thing is when it comes down to the Celtics is what I’ve always learned since being the eight and a half years right when I played there for eight and a half years even when I was part of the on that team before we won a championship that lost 18 games in a row I mean we were getting booed out of the Arena we suck um and from me being there the history of the Celtics is always been is no in between is either Championship or it’s a fail season what are you doing to get to to make strides to to win the championship and so over the past two years am I wrong because I felt like the Celtics still had a window to win two championships and they dropped the ball in the finals against the Golden State Warriors No One still could tell me to this day that the Celtics didn’t have the better basketball team what they not what they you know did go to state have the most experience absolutely okay and last year when the Miami he beat him in a Conference Finals did I not have a right to be pissed off so until they complete the mission which they did this year I had my doubts until they showed me that they can actually do it now I’m proud of them for doing it but was I wrong for that no not at all so Kendrick if you had to use a word or a term to describe how many Celtics fans and others involved are handling your criticisms about the team what would it be corny Petty bunch of it’s corny as hell man it’s corny as hell and it’s not here’s the thing it’s not everybody because I was just in Boston and the amount of love that I got it was still the same like nothing changed I still went to my favorite restaurant ster owned by my guy Nikki I still got to eat a whole lot of food and did getting charged of dime I went to the casino over at the uncore they treated me great they come me a room for five days and treated me real good so everything was still great it’s just that you know if certain people certain ones feel a certain Type of Way within the organization again I’m a phone call away we can always talk it out I got great love for my guy Sam Cassel who’s on that bench if you know if y’all know and follow me I’ve been begging and pleading for other other uh organizations to give him a shot at the head coaching job I mean uh and I and you you know what’s crazy I was one of the few this was about three or four years ago I’ve been on the jayen brown uh train way long time ago but at the end of the day look it’s no hard feelings on my end I don’t I’m not losing any sleep I’m I’m pretty sure they’re not losing any sleep as well my thing is is that scal when you come out and say that and I call you so us for us to have a a grown man conversation don’t duck and Dodge my car you think Celtics fans are too sensitive the whole experience is too sensitive I mean yeah mean because look here here’s the thing right they talked about Jesus Christ go talk about everybody everybody get talked about like you prove like listen everyone was just waiting on the moment to see if Jason Tatum and Jaylen Brown could get it done they got it done everybody and now all of a now everybody they have they have earned everyone respect and it’s a great deal man like no one is no one in the media is salty at the Celtics for winning no none of that everyone is like great the Celtics won it was great great for the city of Boston is great for basketball you know and a lot of people got them repeat but you know I don’t feel to be honest with you I feel like you have very few especially on Twitter that’s sensitive but when you get into Boston I didn’t get that vibe that all Kenrick okay so just to just to clarify again you weren’t invited to the parade but you don’t know if you were disinvited you know what I mean I don’t know I don’t know anything I don’t know anything I didn’t I mean I don’t know I don’t I didn’t know it was the invitation that was that went out how about NBC Sports Boston no so that that that at that moment that would the that was a scheduling thing to be honest with you it was it was more so along the lines that I couldn’t because I worked so many hours at ESPN I could and they and I was added to NBA Countdown for the season I couldn’t commit to dates on there and it’s unfair to them that if I would have to call them you know last minute and say hey you know what I I can’t make it because in order for me to work for for for the Boston Network in order for me to do what I need to do I have to get permission from ESPN to work and they make it very very clear that es your ESPN duties comes before anything so it was a lot of times uh not this past season but the season before this is that I had to call and I had to counsel because I had obligations to uh ESPN and so it was unfair for both parties for me to be because if I if I if I say I’mma do something I want to do it all right per what thanks for calling in here we appreciate it appreciate it I I thank you y’all continue to
