Cleveland Cavaliers finally have their Head Coach! Kenny Atkinson 5 minute breakdown!
hello hoopers it’s your boy JP and the Cleveland Cavaliers have finally got their head coach and Kenny ainson in this 5 minute video I’m going to break down who he is and why he’s a great fit for the Cavaliers let’s get it yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah you hear my phone and I’m heing no yeah you my phone and I’m yeah you my phone and I’m okay cast fans first things first we know the season did not end um the way we as cast fans might have wanted it to especially with Donovan Mitchell not playing the last couple games and Jared Allen’s injury um but they’re still with some positive to take from last year especially when it comes to Evan Moy and his development um and we’ll get a little bit more into that later now one thing we did expect was for JB biera to get fired and he definitely did leaving the Cavs head coaching vacancy open and the Cav sign Kenny ainson and so first things first about Kenny ainson do y’all remember that Brooklyn team um with D’Angelo Russell that won um they just kind of made the playoffs out of nowhere and they won that one game against Philly but they lost in the first round but everybody loved them for some reason that team was Kenny Atkinson’s team actually and it’s also worth noting that two current Cavaliers were on that team and Jared Allen and Caris lever now before he actually got to Brooklyn he spent some time um under Mike Danton he spent a lot of time actually as an assistant coach for Mike dton and then with the Brooklyn situation with KD and Kyrie he eventually stepped down and then after that he spent a year with the Clippers as an assistant coach and then the last three years he was an assistant coach under Steve Kerr now in Brooklyn he had a 118 wins and 190 losses giving him um almost a 40% win percentage um now I don’t put too much stock in that personally because those first two years in Brooklyn I mean if you look back at those teams like Brooklyn remember everybody forgets that Brooklyn traded away everything for Kevin Garnett Paul Pierce and yeah they had to recover from that and he was stuck doing that so those first two years I really I’m not even holding against him he had that one playoff Surge and then it was the the KD and Kyrie uh like drama and all that stuff that was going on so I don’t really even blame him for that season and stepping down cuz it was just that was apparently a lot I can only imagine now why I believe he’s a good fit is mainly because he’s known for his Player Development actually you see how DLo was under him that one season you see how Spencer Den witty and how uh he had a little surgence there so I mean the development plus this young Cavs team is a good look also I think that’s important because even if Donovan Mitchell does leave we now have a coach that is like that specializes in development so with that and Evan Mo that’s still a good fit also the draft is coming up soon so we who knows who we get like that player will benefit from having a a a Player Development coach as well in fact it was already reported on that uh the cast front office or like excited to pair him with Evan Moy personally I also think Isaac aoro could benefit from having this type of coach as well I mean he his defense is already topnotch and he showed some growth in the playoff series against Boston um in the first couple games he he’s shown some growth so I think he can benefit as well and I believe that’s something that’s often being overlooked now he may not even be on the team who knows what this is what the roster is going to look like um going into the start of the season but if he is I think he’ll benefit now as far as the type of offense that Kenny Akerson runs I do believe that it’s a heavy pick and roll type offense um but who knows what elements he’s going to bring from um the Steve cerr Warriors and how their offense ran overall cast fans I truly believe this is a win for us as a team and as an organization I believe we have gotten a step better now please let me know in the comments what you think about this move um if you wouldn’t have done it what coach would you have picked instead with that being said y’all be easy
