Raptors MAKING MOVES Ahead of NBA Draft…

the Toronto Raptors are making moves ahead of the NBA draft as reports have come out the Raptors have officially waved Mohamad du gay opening up a new two-way roster spot for this Raptors Group which indicates Bobby Webster Messi Jerry have some plans for that open roster spot and given their latest workouts players that they have brought in to evaluate there are a couple of guys that really jump out on the page as players the Raptors will likely bring in with that newly open position so we’re going to break down who these guys are what this report means and how it affects the Toronto Raptors cuz frankly we have to get some hits in this year’s NBA draft in order to facilitate this rebuild to make things not be too dragged out for Toronto Raptors fans but before we dive into that folks we rentals.ca for supporting this team uh this team Canada you know heading into the Olympics this year and the Raptors digest we greatly appreciate it but we have some news that has come out regarding the Toronto Raptors team as Blake Murphy is officially reported the Raptor have waved Mohammad du gay he was on a 2-year two-way contract so again I know a lot of people tuned out the Toronto Raptors to close out this most recent season they looked at this team and said hey we’re done we’re uh you know yaka purle went down Scotty bars went down there’s no reason to watch well the people that did the people that stuck it out saw a lot of different two-way guys people called up from the Raptors 905 and one guy that earned a two-way roster spot was Mohammad now if you watched him perform if you watch what he did out there on the basketball court it wasn’t crazy encouraging in terms of the performance he was able to provide for the team I mean he got some decent minutes in some games averaged two points per game two rebounds shot 28% from the field missed most of his jump shots and you know the the event stats just didn’t love his game especially for a 25y old going to be 26 heading to Next season defensive box plus minus of a negative 0.9 and a vorp of 0.3 so again Mohammad was a part of of the Toronto Raptor system a guy that a lot of people liked for the Toronto Raptors 905 but unfortunately you know despite the fact he got the opportunity got the option you know to get picked up as a two-way player in a multi-year contract that’s not going to be sustained and obviously when even when half a long-term two-way contract you know low roster position those players are still easily waved as their capit doesn’t have a massive impact on the roster so the Raptors did give him that deal but they said hey we have better options forthcoming you know this off season and particularly the NBA draft because the timing of this indicates that someone of the NBA draft that the Toronto Raptors have been eyeing is likely to fall out you know of your classic you know first second round draft picks and those undrafted dudes that come in usually fill those two-way spots as we’ve seen Toronto Raptors players do a ton of times in the past seems like they have their eyes on some of those players so we can take a look at some of the guys that the torona Raptors have worked out have taken a look at in recent weeks you know leading up to the NBA draft obviously this isn’t going to affect the players we could draft in the first round you know Zach Eed kle wear kaishan George you know Canadian Swiss Prospect I think is opening more Toronto Raptors fans eyes leading into the draft but this will more so affect the players that we have taken a look at you know that are projected to go later projected to be outside of the first second round and be undrafted free agents and looking at some of these guys again we breaken broken down some of these dudes in recent videos Jonathan MBO you know jayon Tyson some of these guys have interesting stories interesting uh directions for this team but there are a couple players that diving the analyst looking at the highlights I think the Toronto Raptors are particularly going to look at and one of them specifically there at projected go 69 in terms of uh for the Hoops hype draft it’s Boogie Ellis Boogie Ellis is a guy you know played at USC a lot of eyes on that team with bronny James down there 61 senior and despite the fact he’s older despite the fact he’s smaller this seems like the prototypical undrafted uh free agent that the torona Raptors like to go after again for so many years we’ve had uh the Kyle low the Fred Van vites Manning the point guard position for this Raptor group and Boogie Ellis kind of fits that stocky athletic point guard mold that I think Messi Jerry and Bobby Webster have fallen in love with at times over the course of their tenure with the Toronto Raptors and he’s he’s an interesting sort of career trajectory because he’s not a crazy scorer by any means only average 16.5 points per game you know this Mo most recent season in college again that went down a little bit had to sh the floor with bronny James uh you know came off the bench a little bit for that Squad but three assists per night 3.5 rebounds but the part that uh is really intriguing it’s really encouraging about Boogie Ellis is that three-point percentage the man shot 42% from behind the threo line and again guards that are shooting at that Elite level it’s more impressive than those spot up guys the players that are catching shooting you know coming around screens getting their shots set up for them because a lot of those three-point shots for you know the Boogie ellises of the world these these types of players are coming off the dribble are coming unassisted have those uh you know create and that just opens up way more options for your team yes he’s not a you know Trey young esque playmaker for an undersized guard but he has athleticism he has Assa frame his mobility and defense is something that the scouting reports have raved about him in terms of being able to translate well into the NBA you know from college to the NBA but he is an older Prospect you know you can see he played the full five years out there in college and uh people don’t like undersized players that have uh matured and already played their Seasons you over the course of the NBA but this just seems like the type of guy that Toronto Raptors would bring in you know given the recent risks I want to say risks but players that they’ve taken a look at even in recent season Maris noell was a two-way contract for us before he end up going down with injuries so Boogie Ellis just feels like the the prototypical Toronto Raptor that I think Messi jery would really like to take a look at and the second guy that I think is also on this list is reys beakman now I’ve seen a lot of people you know discuss Rees beakman as a player that makes a ton of sense for this Toronto Raptors group because again 61 also but he has long arms he’s really mobile Defender and it’s just kind of one of those versatile players that you people really like the eye test of they like the potential of him being able to develop also a scener the Raptors love going after these large uh these older guards they fit the Scotty barns timeline more often and we can look at his stats he took a massive leap a massive jump during his uh final season here with uh with the you know in his college career the school he played for for the Virginia Cavaliers you know the Cleveland Cavaliers let’s get that rocking Cavs di just launching soon give that a little plug but 14 points per game you know 3.6 rebounds the three-point jump shot isn’t as Elite but his Mobility his speed his athletic you know 67 wing span is kind of the the size he has at that 61 spot has made him another intriguing kind of all the things I mentioned with Boogie Ellis the Raptors love these kind of undersized guards that can come in be stocky be athletic and just really hustle bring a lot of energy to whatever team that they’re providing be leaders you know just have that mature voice in the locker room despite being a rookie they’re mature coming in as seniors you know coming into the NBA so these uh re beakman Boogie Ellis are two players I really think on that list I should have Chona Raptors fans eyes peeled now with this new open roster position you Cam Spencer is another guy that uh is intriguing guy we’ve already talked about him on recent vids but I don’t know the Raptors have some big decisions to make this list is also larger from other sources we’ve seen in terms of guys that they’ve interviewed they’ve worked out so we’ll see what MSU Jeri and the Toronto Raptors do but I don’t think this mohammadu gay waving was just a fluke was just a random thing that ended up going down I think the Raptors have their eyes on an undrafted free agent we’ll find out Thursday in terms of uh once the you can sign undrafted free agents because the draft ends Thursday despite it’s starting on Wednesday it’s two nights now for this NBA draft and we’ll
