Ahhh… quick someone tell me how to feel about this

This is the most Presti pick. He’ll probably end up 2nd team all-nba but does not help the team for next year 🙁

Ehhhh. I would’ve preferred dalton or Holmes

Serbia josh giddy. Shorter, smaller wing span, torn ACL.

I’m not mad at it, this draft is a crapshoot and buying low on someone who was mocked as high as top 3 because he needs to redshirt with an injury is fine for a team with an abundance of guards

Our competing roster this year looks like it’s gonna need to be built with trades and free agency, then we’d hope to get bolstered by Topic next season on a rookie deal with a better jumper thanks to Chip

  6. Initial reaction: Hate the pick, but it won’t matter for the outlook of the team

Not gonna lie… didn’t see this one coming. Not sure what the thought was here

lol. Sam really wanted Giddey again 😂

This pick makes a lot of sense. Doubt many rookies in this class can realistically crack this rotation. We don’t really have a traditional PG on the roster

I can’t wait to see how these comments age. People were mocking this guy in the top 3 before his injury. Gonna love to bring up some of these comments in a couple years. I understand people wanting a pick that helps right now but most of the names we would have wanted are gone. Taking the higher upside pick is the smart way to go.

Going into this draft I haven’t really seen anyone suggesting a draft strategy for the Thunder to end up with a player that could actually contribute this season. Any of these drafted players would have been low minutes off the bench, not the win now player people seem to think they could be. I’m thinking a trade will be the most likely the way to round out our roster for the playoff run.

Feel like people here are underrating this pick, Topic was frequently being mocked to the Spurs at 4 before he got injured. And a partially torn ACL at 18 isn’t the end of the world.

Shipped out giddy because he needed the ball to be effective, just to draft a dude that needs the ball to be effective… The only thing I can think is that since he won’t play this season presti is going to use him as a trade piece for next year’s draft.

I’ll take potential every day at 12. We still have cap space to make a play at some good pieces. No need to pretend the season starts tomorrow.

  14. Love this pick. We don’t need another project vying for minutes next season – we’ve already got too many players to share the minutes around. Topic was easily the most valuable player left in the draft – would’ve been top 5 if not for the injury. I think we’ve drafted him for his value as trade bait going forward.

I love everything about this. Just traded Giddey for Caruso & then immediately replaced him with a younger, cheaper version that was even more highly rated coming into the draft than Giddey was.

Guard depth currently means he doesn’t need to play immediately & can take the year off to rehab, but he was as high as #1 on some boards this year… so that’s INSANE value at #12.

And Presti still has a TON of assets to trade back into the first round tonight and take someone who can contribute immediately if he likes someone enough.

Before his injury he was arguably the #1 projected pick

Tankathon had him there all year and still does

The problem is 3 years ago he tore his ACL

this year he tore the same ACL again

I’m worried about his injury history more than his fit

  17. JeramiGrantsTomb

Ok, so here’s what I’m thinking… No one we could draft at 12 was even likely to crack the rotation, let alone make a huge difference. Topic being injured allows us to potentially pick up a top 3 pick talent at 12, just have to wait until right around trade time to see. So then at trade time, instead of trading whoever else we grabbed at 12 or a future pick, we’re coming to the table with a valuable project piece for a team looking to offload some veteran pieces we need.

TL;DR Presti traded up from 12 to 3 for basically nothing.

You’ve got the best bball talent in this draft.

    – He’s next level passer. Great vision.
    – He’ll also need several years to settle in properly.

Top 5 passer in the league down the line.

Not Thunder fan but Topic truther.

I know Presti is cooking and that’s fine, but does he have to hit us with pans while he cooks?
