Detroit Pistons Draft Ron Holland in 2024 NBA Draft
the pick is in all right Detroit Pistons and we are joined by C Cal from the locked on pist present helps you find the qualified you want to talk to faster post your job for free at linkedin.com lockon NBA fifth overall pick is in and they go with the high-risk High reward guy in my opinion and Ron Holland II out of the g- league ignite small forward 67 197 initially coup was projected even as a number one overall pick a little bit inconsistent this past season saw him drop down but he goes fifth overall on this team loaded with young Talent what do you think the fit is here with Holland uh it is I think this pick is pretty shocking I we just got done talking with Ron Holland and he himself talked about how he didn’t work out with the Pistons before the draft he didn’t talk with the Pistons at all before the draft and that he was pretty shocked he went five I think that a lot of people were pretty shocked that he went five I know a lot of people are really high on r on Ron Holland um aism off the charge has defensive potential but the jump shot just isn’t there a really good slasher but jump shot isn’t there so that is a little bit of where the question is with the immediate fit with the team but they have free agency they have obviously trades that they can do um and they obviously could choose to bring him along slowly but I think not only just from some fans side also appear appears Bron Holland side there is a little bit of shock about him going five to the Pistons yeah absolutely uh you mentioned the athleticism some streakiness in terms of the shooting realistically though with where this Pistons team is at and a majority of their core being recent draft selections and young players like how much time does he have to develop how quickly are they going to be looking for him to make an impact it I think that’s the question that a lot of people are going to be asking I don’t really know the answer to it just yet it really depends on what the Pistons end up doing um in this offseason free agency and the trade market because we did just hear from Tran LED in the new president basketball operation just a few days ago and he spoke about how he wanted to add veterans he did want to add some people that complimented the roster a little more but he also said that he wanted to go take it a little slow and he wanted to develop his own guys so it as of right now it really is I think a lot of people people are a little confused about or not maybe not confused but interested to see what the route is the rest of the off season for the Pistons it’s interesting based on hearing that then that the organization goes with a Holland who to me is maybe a little bit more of a project and a longer term development piece versus someone who’s going to make an impact in his rookie season you mentioned the surprise and shock not just from Holland side but maybe from fans and the media like what’s the temperature right now for Detroit Piston fans obviously it’s been a tough number of years for the organization but you’re starting to get some exciting young players like what’s the Outlook from fans heading into this draft and now with this pick being made uh I’m seeing a lot of positivity from fans I think a lot of Pistons fans had Braun Holland High on their boards just overall wise um it just didn’t seem like that him coming to the Pistons at five was ever something that was really being considered again he didn’t talk with the Pistons didn’t work out with the Pistons I didn’t really see much talk about him going to the Pistons so it’s just more so of a shock right now um there is a lot of Pistons fans that again really like Holland but again are questioning okay well if you got Holland is he expected to have an immediate impact where is the Improvement in shooting coming from how are you complimenting the team especially K Cunningham um so I think overall with Ron Holland the prospect I think a lot of Pistons fans like him I think right now there’s just a little question to okay what’s next because I feel like there has to be something else coming after this if you take Ron Holland and you still need to address a lot of things um especially with the fact that Donan kingan was there at five and they didn’t take that advantage to fall to trade back into the draft I think that was probably the the part that really shocked people the most but I don’t think anyone dislikes Ron Holland the prospect just more so of what’s next this definitely was an eybrow razor for sure just based on where this Pistons roster is at thanks so much for the Insight coup we’ll let you go digest this appreciate you sharing your thoughts from the lock on Pistons podcast thank you Ron Holland of the G League Knight plays with Incredible energy and is a very good athlete who figured his way into scoring nearly 20 a game in the G League despite a poor shooting season I’m Lea toen of Lockton NBA big board and Ron Holland is a Livewire athlete who measures in at over 6 foot6 without shoes and has the capacity to impact the game defending the perimeter early in his career but despite entering the year ranked at the top of the draft boards his lack of offensive polish is scaring teams away his upside as an 18-year-old who just scored 20 per game in the G League adding seven boards as a plus athlete makes him a polarizing Prospect because he may boast one of the higher ceilings but if his offense does not translate Holland reminds me some of Josh oogi on the other end on the higher end he reminds me some of RJ Barrett but a right-handed version Holland will be divisive with his swing skill being shooting for more on Ron Holland tune in to locked on NBA bigboard where you can listen to recent episodes on Pistons seem to be tanking with pick. . Gotta feel for fans
Hey Ku! Look how dapper you look!
Ku u a major reason why we dont have Matas Buzelis
I like the pick
Best pick in the draft
Should have been either Cody Williams or Dalton Knecht
The pick is a surprise, but I'm going to take it as a good sign that our new leadership is thinking for themselves rather than following the mock drafts and conventional wisdom of the so-called experts.
Need development
What are the expectations of the front office for this selection π€·πΎββοΈ
Why would we pick clingan when we have duren
posed to grabbed Dalton
Damn koo bald bring back dark kou atleast through that hoodie on top daaaaamn
They tried too trade back so did char that Clingan hype was crazy
THIS PICK IS SO BAFFLING!! ANOTHER PICK THAT CAN'T KNOCK DOWN BUCKETS!! FEELS LIKE WEAVER IS STILL AROUND!! I AM SO TIRED OF THIS TEAM GETTING PROJECTS INSTEAD OF GETTING NEED!! THIS TEAM STRIKES OUT ON EVERYTHING LATELY. I EXPECT THEM TO BOTCH UP THE COACHING DECISION TOO!! NOT A GOOD TIME TO BE A FAN. WE ALREADY HAVE A PLETHORA OF SMALL FORWARDS YET WE GO OUT AND DRAFT ANOTHER ONE π€π€π€π€π€πππ§?? WHAT THE F ARE WE DOING???? FEELS LIKE WEAVER IS STILL HANGING AROUND INSTEAD OF BEING AT HIS NEW GIG IN WASHINGTON!! THE FEEL OF IT ALL JUST LEAVES YOU LIKE DAMN, DAMN,DAMN!!
Seems like a good hooper for sure but will Ivey will be traded? Maybe they play small ball with ausar at the 4 and keep Ivey. Or holland just comes off the bench . Idk Iβm Still excited for the upcoming season
Langdon is a stupid punk who doesn't even see winners (klingan). You can get shooters and develop shooters later. No, a lot of real Pistons hate this pick.
We called for weavers job because he drafted talent that didnβt fit and we go ahead and do the same thing with the new regime. We keep hitting a new rock bottom as a franchise
Tranjon Langdon, i bet not ever see you in public because you will get cursed out like shemi cursed David on the rocks in 1Samuel Chapter 8
Im surprised by the pick, but feel like this is a HR swing. Remember the Pistons added one of the best shooting coaches to their staff recently. Could this be a plan to continue adding great athletic players and then teach them how to improve their shooting?
Holland should finish Top 3 as Rookie of the Year π―π₯
Another dumb decision
Nah of the boards and comments I'm reading fans are saying they are shocked that we picked a player that only shot 24% from 3. And as far as Holland not having a jump shot being a little bit of a problem? I would say it's a big bit of a problem we had last year when Knecht and Williams were still on the board.
I was upset at first but I actually like this pick a lot now
Asked Langdon if Holland not working out in Detroit was a product of so many moving parts for the organization last few weeks: "There were a lot of agents who didn't want to send their players here. Also, staying quiet was a strategy."
it was the right pick we need DOGS
Ron Holland's a dawg πΆ
If you take a wing at 5 to develop, go with Williams, not another streaky shooter like Ivey and Thompson. Not a Pistons fan but from what I saw the last years and if they keep the pick that might be the 4 fractions pick. If Langdon really picked Holland, then he is already under pressure not to be the next Weaver. That was a Stanley Johnson 2.0 choice. The Pistons could have picked Clingan to get their rim protector, a proven winner. Or trade Clingan to the Grizzlies and pick Holland later.
This pick for sure opened up more questions than answered any and FA has to be a homerun in the next days to give this franchise hope for the future.
Demarr Derozan
You cant be a project but consider a dog. Basically this team is in shambles. π€¦πΎββοΈπ€¦πΎββοΈπ€¦πΎββοΈπ€¦πΎββοΈπ€¦πΎββοΈ
Ron Holland is a baller he's a 2-way player that can play defense and very athletic, great pick let's go 313…
I'm sorry, but what I see is Stanley Johnson the 2nd in our pick.
Cade needs spacing and Holland does not provide that. The Pistons are too worried about filling the seats around the conference table, and not concerned enough with the team on the floor. I hope future moves will be with the TEAM in mind.
Ku you seem much more chill and relaxed when you are on a national show lol
Does this pick show that the Pistons don't have faith in Cade Cunningham?
You can defend Ron as a prospect but you can't say that this "core" makes any sense or that everybody is going to magically become floor spacers. Not going to happen
