NBA Draft LIVE REACTION: Risacher to Hawks a MISTAKE? Edey PERFECT FIT with Grizzlies | Nerd Sesh

everybody back into nerd sesh as always I’m Carson breber and alongside me is Logan Canden and here it is ladies and gentlemen the day that we have been waiting for since the end of the season the NBA draft and we are going to be live with you through all of the lottery and then we’ll be giving our reaction to the full first round tomorrow morning but we’re here for the full lotto and before we get to the first pick which will be the Atlanta Hawks Logan I want to talk about a bit of news that broke on drafted we often see trades and this one went down before the teams had even started drafting Denny of diaa a real favorite of ours here on nerd sesh traded to the Portland Trailblazers for Malcolm Brogden the 14th pick tonight in a 20129 pick what’s your reaction to Washington moving off of Denny for that package I’m kind of surprised I just don’t think that they’re getting exceptional value back for a player like Denny like he’s a winner to me a winning asset right now and so I guess this is essentially Washington kicking the can a little bit further down the street Carson and trying to just get a younger asset uh I don’t know in a lot of ways I feel like one I wish that Denny had gone to a team that’s going to be more competitive I still feel like Portland is a little bit of a ways away and also I feel like Washington maybe could have gotten uh a little bit more value for Denny but uh I’m glad glad he’s out of Washington and uh I wish him well I I just really expected Denny to go to a competitive basketball team man a playoff Contender uh I’m I’m surprised but you know props to Washington for uh going out and getting a I guess a younger asset I’m I’m pretty surprised I just expected that a A compe or I guess a younger yeah the 14 pick I just expected uh I expected Denny to go to a competitor man I’m really shocked that he went to Portland it’s super weird because Denny is the Prototype that so many teams are looking for the sort of big versatile Wing who can defend multiple positions who rebounds well who can playmake pretty good athlete significantly improved as a shooter this past year I thought he would be a real hot commodity and I think he’s arguably the Wizard’s best asset either him or kabali but Denny is more proven at this point as a guy who can go and contribute in a win Now situation that’s why I thought he would be perfect for OKC and if you are OKC and this was the package that it took like you have such an obscene wealth of assets there’s no reason not to give the 12th pick in this year’s draft and whoever even if it’s Aaron Wiggins and then another first down the line like you can easily top the package that Portland put together and that would make a meaningful difference to me them having a sort of big versatile forward like that so it’s a very weird trade it’s not what I expected I don’t like it for Washington but it’s the Wizards I mean it’s not a horrible hul in a vacuum but I think they could have done better because of the value that he had to some of these teams that are trying to just get that extra player who puts them over the hump would you have really given up all that if you were Oklahoma City to get Denny yeah man like they have such an obscene wealth of quality smaller guards and wings and you’re gonna have to pay Aaron Wiggins eventually you’re gonna have to pay Isaiah Joe like to me kesan is a who I would most want to hold on to out of those guys and again these draft picks 12th this year I do think they have the potential to get a real good win now guy but if it’s two first down the line maybe like it could be three first down the line that’s probably an overpay for Denny but they just have so much draft capital I do think that they could have topped this package let’s talk about the number one pick here though Logan because the Hawks are on the clock and the talk for a long time has been that they are going to take Zachary rash with which has been very controversial because even in a weak draft class A lot of people ourselves included have not viewed him as a number one overall pick caliber sort of prospect the moment has officially arrived do you think this has all been a smoke screen or do you think they’re actually gonna take Ras I wonder man I SAR didn’t work out with the Hawks in the pre-draft proess in the pre-draft process you know I think that’s deliberate I don’t know if he doesn’t want to go to Atlanta or what that’s about I I really struggle to think that Atlanta’s going to go through with reace right I if I’m not taking yeah I mean if I’m not taking SAR I feel like the next logical pick is Donovan kingan right center to me is still the most valuable position that Atlanta needs to go after and it’s the position that makes the most immediate winning impact if you were ultimately going to hold on to Trey young right like just a defensive five that immediately can anchor your defense you have your offensive anchor and Trey young and you have your defensive aner in either kingan or SAR if they take reace what that says to me about Atlanta is that likely Murray and young are probably going out of town and this is them you know completely going into a full rebuild like I just don’t think re impacts winning immediately if they go and take him but I don’t know man it seems like nobody really wants this pick Carson like if I’m Atlanta and SAR doesn’t want to come to me I would try to trade this pick do you buy in do do you think that’s what they’re doing they just picked the pick is in I think that they’re going to take rash I can’t think of a reason that we would hear so much strong reporting for so long and I would prefer absolutely SAR but if SAR doesn’t want to go there then that’s an issue and it does seem that that’s the case at this point I prefer kinging as a prospect and kinging at number one you wouldn’t be getting the ceiling that you’re used to from a number one pick but that floor would be extremely high you’re guaranteeing Elite RI protection Elite rebound really nice pick and roll finishing and post mismatch attacking on the interior like that guy does a lot of things that are going to make him a highle starting big reash you have the three and D skill set this is a guy who shot the ball at quite a high level from Beyond The Arc this year at his size that’s valuable he has the tools athletically to be a real plus Defender but everything on the periphery of that and some of the foundational pieces that are required for a star in the league which is what you are almost always drafting for at number one real issues finishing around the rim overall lack of dynamic creation off the dribble just slivers of connective playmaking is what we’ve seen from him nothing that would suggest he’s going to be shouldering a real ball handling load as I’ve said I would just prefer getting a guy like SAR who would be my number one who I am confident is going to transform my defense anchoring it at the most valuable position and who then I think will bring enough offensive value than a guy who I think is going to be a pretty good three and D Wing you can easily reach a star level impact as a big with offensive limitations it’s much harder to do as a wing and I’m not prioritizing clink capella I’m not PRI prioritizing Ona over the best player available but I don’t think that that’s what the Hawks are GNA do I do think they’re GNA take raset it’s in I’m I’m seeing on Twitter uh my stream is a little bit behind but Twitter is saying that they took rease uh I have my issues with him as a prospect as well and I think you make some great points about the archetype right I just think guys in the kingan and SAR mold are just a little more valuable right these guys singularly can transform your defense and make them good to great and you know I think rash’s got a good skill set right like if he is an elite shooter that’s special but 44% of his shots came from behind the arc like you I worry about him not creating a ton of downhill pressure maybe being a little too reliant on the three I also worry about him becoming a highlevel defend two I think he’s got a long way to go on that side of the basketball right that’s his archetype high level three andd wing but um you know I worry about his lateral quickness his perimeter foot speed I worry about his the slightness in his frame and I worry about his General defensive awareness to me rashay is a little bit of a project and and he’s young he’s just 18 years old but I I think he’s got a long way to go to to Really reach that potential man and again in a lot of ways I think when you’re looking at just complimentary skill sets to a guy like Trey young I just think kingan and SAR fit a little bit better more immediately this would not have been the pick in my opinion but it’s not so much the fit that I have any issue with because I think rashay is a pretty easy fit anywhere it is just the positional value it’s the caliber of a prospect I like Atlanta going Wing I just don’t think that a wing was the best Prospect in this class and I’m not sure that reash was my favorite Wing who they could have taken even at once so when you think about the outlook for Atlanta this is a massive pivot point for them organizationally because they were not expected to get this number one pick but obviously it’s been a pretty rough road for them since trading for deante Murray this was a team that finished 10 games below 500 this year and there’s been a lot of talk about them trading either Trey or deante and people are saying that Dante is actually the more valuable asset according to League front office people which to me just doesn’t make sense I’ll take the oneman offensive engine over the flawed offensive player that is dejonte who hasn’t been committed to the defensive side of the ball in several years like I would way rather have the dud who I know is going to just create insane shot quality for me out of pick and roll but this doesn’t get Atlanta all that close I was optimistic about what a try SAR pairing could look like out of pick and roll I was optimistic about what having not just a great rim protector which they’ve had with a Clint capella but a guy who can guard and space much more capably and then bring some connective passing and maybe even some floor spacing I thought that would be a really great pairing with Trey I want to see Trey with a great big I think that serves him best on both sides of the ball this doesn’t accomplish that so it’s not that I don’t think Reay is going to be a solid NBA player but do I think he is going to be a guy you look back on and say I’m glad we took him number one do I think he has a ceiling that is comparable to SAR no do I think has a floor that is comparable to Donovan kingan no to me he’s just the sort of guy you take somewhere in the mid Lottery even in a class like this I completely agree when you talk about that Pivot Point Carson I mean like I said at the top here I think this kind of signals that we are going to see some big shifts here from Atlanta if that is Trey young getting moved if it’s Aon Murray and I want to be clear on something I completely agree with you on the Trey young point I’m not moving off for Trey for any anything less than I mean damn dude you see what Macau Bridges hauls in today like I need three plus first round picks man I need some future assets like I need I need a haul for Trey young right I’m not just giving him up and this signals to me that I don’t know man I’m moving off of capella I’m moving off of Hunter I’m moving off of banovic I’m moving off think this is a sign that they’re going into a full rebuild I mean does this make them more competitive like I I don’t really see how does this make Atlanta a playoff team like no I to me that kind of seems like the only option and with the fragmented relationship that it seems like the media has hinted at between Trey and deante something else major has to go down I think in the rest of this offseason man if it’s Trey if it’s Dante the Atlanta Hawks are getting a major facelift this off season the biggest concern for me with Ras Logan is that although I do think he’s legitimately a good shooting Prospect I don’t think he’s a great one I’ve seen some people throw out like a Michael Porter Jr comparison which to me is just insane right mpj is 610 easily 40% from Deep every year of his career at every level like absolutely insane ability to shoot from any angle off any level of movement any level of contest rash just had a really good three-point shooting season crazy hot start then he cooled down un proven as a highle free throw shooter he’s consistently been around 70% there like I like his shot I don’t think you’re getting an elite shooting Prospect and if it ends up being that he’s like a closer to average three-point shooter that would be really really rough here so the pick is in for Washington I would be shocked dare I say even flabbergasted if they don’t take Alex SAR here but it’s the Washington Wizards what do you expect them to do Logan yeah I 100% expect them to take Alex are here I think he’s got the highest ceiling in the class I think he’s got a very very high floor and again we’re talking about these kind of archetypes man it’s the hyper athletic big man who can anchor the rim he can defend out in space he’s super fluid mobile and one of my favorite things about SAR 2 is he really seems to understand his value as a prospect I’ve really loved listening him uh listening to him excuse me uh talk in press conferences about what he brings to the table defensive versatility intensity as a Rim Runner and a finisher like sardy not only is Uber talented but he also understands what his role is and what should be expected about him at the next level 7 foot one 220 pounds 7 foot5 wingspan I thought he was the best Prospect in the class and like he just fits in a lot of lot of different places he’s an immediate plug-and-play big man with a very high ceiling the one question I’ve seen about people make about SAR is like his motor much in the similar sense of like uh DeAndre Aon like how much does he really care about basketball I I don’t really have those questions as much man like I think he’s going to be really good immediately he’s got a very high ceiling and yeah I I just think he’s the best Prospect in this class considering that Washington Washington’s one of the most like Blank Slate teams in all of the NBA oh yeah where whatever pick you face it shouldn’t be what position do we go with it should just be we’re taking the best prospect on the board and if I’m a Washington fan I am I am thanking the basketball gods that Atlanta just passed on SAR uh this is a nobin Washington just took SAR so it is official this one you’ve been pretty confidently able to pencil in as long as the rumors have been that Atlanta was going to take Ras because it just makes sense as you say Washington is a blank slate they traded away KP and Bradley Beal of course they just traded away Denny OFA for Value that I would have liked to see them do a little bit better then and uh Jordan P obviously is in no way significant to their long-term future Koz is going to be a guy who they should absolutely look to move because I think he could have win now value to some contenders potentially I think he’s shown some real Improvement in terms of his versatility as a bigger Wing so you’re just drafting best player available and I really like kabali I think that he is going to continue to progress I thought that he FL a lot and even more than I expected in terms of ball handling and fluidity there this past year and so now you’ve got a really Dynamic French Duo Logan but I do really like SAR and I want to be clear when we’re talking about him as being in our eyes or at least in my eyes a relatively clear number one that is not to say that his expectations should be comparable to the number one prospects that we’ve seen in any of the recent years a cade Cunningham a Pao bonero or Chad hren whoever you preferred obviously not a Victor Bama this is a class that is weaker in terms of top end star talents however if there is a guy to me who has that sort of star ceiling it is SAR because of how confident I am in his defensive value projecting at a very high level and because I do think he can be a nice versatile offensive big he’s a really explosive finisher off the roll I want to see him out a little bit of strength I want to see him improve a bit on the glass but I like his frame I think that he has the ability to do that and then we’ve seen some flashes of floor spacing about 70% from the line 30% from Deep on decent volume that’s encouraging we’ve seen him show some level of capability as a ball handler we’ve seen a little bit of mid-range shot making even like there’s still a lot of refining to do offensively his finishing around the rim in terms of non- dunks has to be better and he has to solidify all of the offensive skills that we’re talking about but that sort of athletic base with that sort of skill upside at the very least and the defensive floor that I am confident in makes s to me a really good pick for Washington at number two and I don’t love what they did with Denny it’ll be interesting to see where they go at 14 tonight but this is a step in the right direction to me you got the best player in the draft if you’re Washington at a position of need because kind of everything is a position of need so now Logan we move on to number three and we have one of the most interesting spots in this draft because it’s the Houston Rockets the Houston Rockets who are apparently hungry for one Kevin Durant and there’s been a lot of talk about them potentially trading this pick just because they’ve picked at the top of the lottery so often in recent years getting Jabari Smith getting Jaylen green getting amen Thompson what do you expect them to do here that’s a reason they were talking on the phone this morning right with Phoenix there’s a reason right they’re trying to see if they can dangle this top three pick in front of the Suns like a carrot and see if they can pull off the KD deal so that’s definitely why they were doing this at the top I in a lot of ways although Houston is way way more talented than Washington I feel very similar in their drafting strategy where you have so much talent at so many different positions who cares I’m just taking the best player available at this point like I mocked Stefon Castle um in our mock draft I think that’s where I would go with this draft pick just because of his uh versatility like his ability to play on the wing his ability to play potentially as a lead guard his athleticism and his athletic ceiling you know I just think he can have an immediate winning impact and I I think he’s probably got the highest ceiling of any player left available but yeah there’s no clear need for Houston right you’ve got Jaylen green you’ve got Jabari Smith you’ve got amen Thompson you’ve got cam Whitmore alperin senon but if you’re not sold on any of these guys I probably would see if you can make the move to trade it considering that we’re two minutes away from Houston taking this uh I don’t think they have anything lined up I think they’re going to take the best player available is in I think it’s probably going to be Castle man do you uh do you disagree do you think they go in a different direction I do disagree I just think you already have your freak athletic Wing is he a guard is he GNA be skilled enough as a shot maker like that’s aen Thompson the sort of dude who’s going to bring that dog that multifaceted impact dominating transition and Thompson to me is just kind of the better Prospect in every way he’s a freakier athlete he has even more special defensive tools I think he’s an even better rebounder at the position I think that he is a significantly more creative and dynamic playmaker now I think his shot is probably even more of a concern but I’d be going Reed Shepard here I can see the clinging argument but I think that requires them moving shenon which it seems like they’re open to doing and I understand concerns with the archetype of poor at least Med medre defensive big and again he hasn’t shown the ability to space the floor yet he hasn’t been a super efficient scorer like shenon is clearly very talented how much will he drive winning as a key player is a question that I do think is fair to ask and kingan is a very very safe pick but I wouldn’t be rushing to move off of shenon and you can’t have those two coexist re sheper to me fits in a whole lot of situations man and they took him I think that’s the right pick if you were going to sit here at three and I would have taken a hard look at all the trade offers available if I were Houston cuz they didn’t need to use this pick if they could package it to get an intuitive win now asset not a Kevin Durant but maybe a younger star in the front court but I love Reed Reed is somebody who I am extremely confident in Logan and I think he’s easily one of the safest picks in this draft just a genuine freak shooting Prospect like 100 percentile spot up player there was a time of the year he was over 52% for from Deep on legitimate volume we’re talking about like 1.7 points per unguarded jumper dunk efficiency 1.3 points per jumper off the dribble which there’s no comparison for in the NBA that level of shooting Brilliance is always going to make you a valuable NBA player and then he brings on top of that some really nice pick and roll Poise not going to be a star level Creator there but he just has such an ability to space the floor because he can pull from 30 those High picking roles can make up for some of his lack of athleticism to get him in to the Lane and he’s solidly crafty there and he’s a very Sound Decision Maker he’s not going to do the flashy stuff there’s really not much flashy about his game outside of pure three-point shooting but he’s going to consistently execute gonna make the right reads out of designed actions move the ball put your teammates put his teammates in positions to succeed and then defensively the guy is just a dog and he has physical limitations we’re talking about a dude 62 with a 63 wingspan it’s hard to be a really really standout defensive guard in the NBA at that size but I think he’s such a pest I think his hands and timing are so good I think his motor his lateral quickness his ability to apply ball pressure all of that is to me so reliable you’re just looking at an awesome second guard and that to me is a really good thing for Houston to have because you have the flashy scoring in Jaylen green in a lot of ways re is kind of like a long-term Fred Van vet kind of the do-it-all small guard who’s going to be a high Lev shooter highle playmaker and I think that’s a good pick for Houston I think that’s the right position to address yeah in a lot of ways I I think this is the right pick and you know Houston was 23rd and three-point percentage last season and in a lot of ways you think about the Rockets timeline is for the future and seeing how guys develop Shepard gives you a constant like he just gives you a guy that you know is going to be a good ball player and impact winning immediately they needed shooting they needed another ball handler I like this man I just wasn’t really expecting Reed to be available here at three I think it’s a good pick and he fits a timeline man like long term dude you have so many young winning assets sorry I just wanted to Spotlight a really insightful comment I know that guy for those who didn’t hear that if you’re listening to the audio dignan comments God Carson is so handsome today it’s just good analysis just ball knowledge wow dude I mean the real winner out of all this is San Antonio San Antonio to is the real winner I mean it looks like I would like re if I was San Antonio I’d like Reed if I’m anybody man I like a little Reed Shepard in my life I mean I think they just walked into Stephan castle like I think which is a really it’s an awesome pairing with wemi man I really like Castle now I do have some concern concerns about him just because I think if you are expecting to be getting your lead guard offensively I’m not sure that he’s that guy I just have some questions about the perimeter shot my comparison for him as a prospect was Anthony black I think that they have a lot of similarities in terms of being big ball handlers creative passing at that sort of size 6667 like that’s the strongest trait for them offensively but I do think that castle is a little bit of a better athlete than black but they’re also both really good defensive guards with the questionable shot but castle for all of the concerns I have about maybe his offensive consistency because of the shot there’s a lot of ways in which he provides a floor with his athleticism with his defensive effort with his cutting offensively with his Elite offensive rebounding and then with his passing ability if he does figure out the jumper I think that this is a great pick I think he’s one of the few dudes who has a star ceiling but to me the long-term outlook for San Antonio is you’re rebuilding your backourt so you want one guy who can be your sort of lead offensive Creator let’s make life easy on wemi maybe you draft that guy maybe you trade for a proven star then alongside him you want an athletic defensive minded complimentary sort of doit all guard and I think Castle’s perfect for that yeah the biggest thing that pops out of that castle is his defense and that’s what I love about this too is that I mean you have your lead perimeter defender in Castle and now you have your you already have your anchor on the interior in wemy and don’t forget the Spurs have another pick here very very soon I mean they could potentially go with a guy you mocked Carson maybe Nicole atopic and that’s your other actual Creator he’s jumbo siiz too um you could go with a wing that’s on board maybe a Cody Williams or Ron Holland Abu zelis you’re really flexible um I’m pretty sure they’re going with Castle here man it gives them a lot of flexibility with this next pick on what they want to address agreed I think Castle makes the most sense everybody else who is of his caliber as a prospect to me Donovan kingan for example I’m not with the Twin Towers thing I just don’t think it makes sense wemi is a five he’s already proven that he’s an elite five your team got better he only played better once you moved him to the five fulltime and then everybody else I really like Cody Williams I’m not sure that he’s viewed quite that highly by a lot of teams around the league and because of his slightness maybe that’s a concern Castle to me is a good pick here I can’t say it’s a completely safe pick because anytime you’re a non-shooter as a perimeter player that’s something of a concern but I do think he brings a lot of value that is going to translate he’s a really high level NBA athlete and competitor and he is the pick Logan the Spurs takes the Fon Castle so no surprises up to this point I would say things have gone as expected really and at the bare minimum offensively I don’t want to sell short what Castle does offensively he’s a really good decision maker he’s really unselfish I love how the ball never sticks to Castle’s hands like this guy you know at his Apex at his Peak he’s got a lot of potential but he also has a really high floor you know just a potentially connective guard too that’s why you love him right there are questions about his offensive and scoring skill set but he does so many other great little things that I think he’s going to be a really good offens or just a good complete basketball player so I love this pick for San Antonio honestly I mean Castle was probably my best case scenario for San Antonio at the four spot I tend to agree he’s who I wanted to take for them in my mock so what is the next step for San Antonio in your opinion not necessarily at number eight we’ll get to that but just in terms of team building do you think they should be pushing the timeline is it going in on a star or is it just continuing to let things grow organically I’m not going in on a store a star unless I really think one fits the one guy we just talked about if I could sucker Atlanta into somehow giving me Trey young I am doing whatever it takes like if they would take the eth pick and somebody else down my roster like maybe uh some of the young guys we’ve already drafted you know know Malachi brandom uh any of the younger guys they’ve already invested in that’s the one guy I would push all my chips in for because now Trey young alongside Stephen castle with wemi oh I like how that comes together that’s the only guy I would I would really accelerate my timeline for I would love Trey young to the Spurs more than anything we just talk about how the ideal fit with Trey is having a big who can finish effectively out of pick and roll and cover up on the back end for some of his defensive limitations on the perimeter I think that in many ways the ideal fit for wemy is a really highle pick and roll Creator as well a guy who can make life easy on him and that is just Trey young so to me the biggest thing with Castle is going to be the consistency of the shot 28th percentile spot-up player this past year not consistent as a pull-up shooter it is important regardless of how good of an athlete you are that you can capably to play at the NBA level but because of the athletic tools because of the defense the playmaking I think this is the right pick for the Spurs and you put them alongside a more offensively oriented guard I like that all right Logan the Detroit Pistons are on the clock here at number five same spot that they picked last year no reward for their all-time Tank season where do you think Detroit goes I have no idea to be quite Frank with you Carson I was talking about uh what the Pistons should do with one of my friends uh Angelo he’s a longtime suffering Detroit Pistons fan poor bastard the thing I think they need the most is is definitely shooting and the ideal scenario for Detroit like a lot of other teams in my opinion was Reed Shepard now I am as big of a Jaden Ivy guy as they come but how do you maximize a guy like Kade Cunningham if you put shooting around him right you think about the building blocks of this Detroit Pistons franchise it’s Kate Cunningham it’s assar Thompson and it’s Jaylen durren you’ve got a great lead ball handler and playmaker but the next two building blocks alongside him are relative non-shooters that doesn’t help him right you think about Jaden Ivy ivy is not really a prolific shooter either that Prospect is not on the board and so I think you take one of these complimentary Wings if it’s Cody Williams if it’s Ron Holland if it’s Matas buellis Angelo told me he doesn’t want buellis as a Pistons fan but I think buellis is probably the best available player in terms of what he brings outside of his shooting one I want to be clear about something withis I think his shot is going to come along I think it’s going to translate it may be two to three years but I think lelis is going to be a good shooter but I love everything else he brings uh I love his defense I think he’ll be a great defensive four from day one he can defend in space he is a great help-side rim protector I just think you have a potent potent defensive front court with assar buellis and Duran for the long term again you think about the front or the back Court excuse me too with Cunningham and Ivy that’s just a surplus of length and athleticism long [Music] term I think buellis is probably the pick again I’d like to bring in a shooter and I think maybe some of the audience may say well why don’t you go with DT and connect if you really want shooting I just think five is a little bit too high to take a guy like connect so I like the upside that buellis brings I also like the floor that buellis brings with his connective traits um and his defensive floor that he brings immediately so best case scenario for P for the Pistons would have been Reed Shepard but I think I’m very happy uh if they go ahead and they take ma Matas balis I like balis a lot the concern is just if the shot doesn’t come along then you have a problem in your front Court you have these two athletic versatile Wings who are great rebounders and bring real quality size and playm a bunch of connective stuff but if neither of them can shoot and you have a non floor spacing five you’re not going to find success in the modern NBA but I do think that because they can’t really take kingan in my opinion I wouldn’t be drafting to replace Jaylen der Jan I think that he has shown too much promise with the athleticism with the flashes of playmaking hasn’t been super consistent defensively but he has the tools there I would take another wing and rash is obviously off the board I really like Cody Williams but Cody Williams is another guy where if you had to put a point on one question mark for him it would probably be the shooting like the shooting is a bit unproven is the pick in Logan I see you wincing over there who is it it’s it’s sounding like we’re gonna get Ron Holland here wow well you’re a Ron Holland Enthusiast this is a bit high for what you would have expected but obviously a great athlete with a lot of tools how do you feel about that exactly right that’s kind of what makes us a little bit of a head scratchers in a lot of ways this reminds me of the Jaden Ivy pick like you’re getting these really athletic explosive guys who can get downhill get to the rim and finish really well there but the shot is a major major concern again a more of a concern with him than Jaden Ivy tell you that way more of a way more of a concern right Ivy showed flashes of the off the dribble shooting from Deep from behind the ark and and he would have these games where he would knock down three or four where you’re like okay Holland oh my gosh I mentioned this stat in the video I did on Holland like he shot you know sub 35% on every single shot outside of the restricted area like when you’re talking about shot long term it’s a m basically everything that Detroit’s complimentary cast does outside of shooting just worried about Kade Cunningham trying to churn this offense into anything better than average yeah damn man Kade just needs shooting man I might see if I can trade back into the first round if I’m Detroit and get the Dalton connect I’m just concerned about the floor spacing in this half court offense man Detroit’s going to have a lot of athleticism a lot of Defense a lot of complimentary ball handling to Kade but Kade desperately needs some shooters to me this is not the best spot for Ron Holland because of what we were just talking about concerns with buellis and assar having some collective shooting issues I’m more confident in bellus’ shot than I am Ron Holland so there is a lot of really good stuff that he brings I mean this is another Super athletic wing with a 61 wingspan he’s a defensive playmaker that motor doesn’t stop he can play multiple roles he can be a really good point of attack Defender he can be your low man like he’s going to contribute there and then out in the open floor I think he brought provides a lot of value with his athleticism again and he does some things in terms of cutting screening that weaponizes athleticism offensively and there’s flashes of playmaking how much does that sound like assar Thompson though man like I just think assar is again a better version of it a more freakish version of it and uh the shot for him is probably even less likely to work out for AAR it’s less likely but you already have AAR so do I want two dudes in that mold on my team no to me this is a bit too high and like you said as much as anything Detroit just needs offensive skill they need shooting think about how teams were able to uh guard Kade the coverages that they were able to throw at him I mean we are talking about playing the gaps more aggressively than you can against any NBA team right we’re talking about ignoring multiple dudes on the floor at once we’re talking about four or five defenders in the paint routinely Ron Holland doesn’t help with that so I understand the upside I understand the tools I don’t think Detroit is the spot for that because eventually they need to start progressing it can’t just be project after project you can’t win 14 games again next year it can’t be another year of okay Kade oh we really like what we’re seeing from you in terms of your ball handling and your making it’s just a brutal situation you have to make the situation better you have to start taking concrete steps forward I’m just worried this is too much of a risk especially in this situation I don’t think that graphic can be right they just said on the broadcast that Holland was six foot six and a half I really don’t think that’s the case but uh okay ESPN I think I think that’s accurate man I thought Holland was more like six foot eight yeah I Detroit’s get shoes off man you learn a lot height inflation is an epidemic in this country also Detroit’s goingon to be going on what their third coach Carson in three years now like I’m just concerned about all of these guys progressing man and getting to to where they need to be to be a competitive team the one thing I do like I mean Detroit’s going to be one of the most athletic teams in all of basketball if they can establish athletic any sort of a defensive culture again I worry about them in the half court if they can win defensively this should be a team that can really run stuff up in transition they’re going to be a lot of fun to watch up you know Running Up Tempo stuff but it starts with winning defensively and yeah I worry about them establishing the defensive culture and I worry about them really being a highlevel half court offense the one guy I’m surprised that have slid thus far granted he did in arach too is is Donovan kingan man I wonder I really wonder where he goes uh in this top 10 if I’m Charlotte I’m taking him and I understand that you can look at wing and say okay that’s the most open group right let’s pair another quality wing with Brandon Miller and if you wanted to take uh Cody Williams I wouldn’t be opposed to that if you wanted to take a buellis okay I could see that but to me at this point kingan is just pretty clearly the best prospect on the bo board you are talking about a guy who again to me is as safe a pick as anybody in this draft does so many things at a high level that are fundamental to just being a quality starting big he’s 72265 with a 77 Wings span per 75 possessions he averaged 26 points 15 boards three assists and five blocks on 63% true shooting pick and roll finishing 97th percentile postup score and he’s not just a mon monstrous massive man like he has pretty good body control good touch he can run some basic offensive actions from the top of the key he can dissect double teams and defensively an elite post Defender a monstrous drop Defender a dominant rebounder you’re gonna have concerns about him guarding in space I don’t think he’s a disaster there but I do think there will be times where he has issues but if I’m Charlotte I am not convinced Enough by Mark Williams he’s a really good athlete but basically the last two seasons opposing players have shot as well at him against him at The Rim as their average which for a Center is really well below average he hasn’t been good enough anchoring that side of the ball and I get it he’s young but I just wouldn’t pass on the best player available I have a lot more questions about Cody Williams and balis than I do about Kling and just being awesome and if I have lamelo pray that he’s healthy as my Dynamic playmaking guard I have Brandon as my awesome scoring two-way wing and I think Brandon Miller is the prize of the group I think he could be an all-nba kind of guy and then I have my awesome Rim finishing Rim protecting big and Donovan kingan that to me feels like the best foundation that Charlotte could lay out I completely agree uh I I also don’t think Mark Williams has shown you enough to like make him your franchise building block Center at this point and kingan by far to me out of any of these prospects remaining has the most immediate impact on winning basketball games and I really like that as a foundation uh something you didn’t mention too man I mean clingan’s got uh you know actual back to the basket game you can go to him on the low block and trust him to do a little work there I think Charlotte would be building a really solid foundation and one of the things that we saw last year Brandon Miller just trying to get his teammates to commit to playing winning basketball committing to getting up and down the floor committing to playing defense Donovan kingan is not only going to change your defense he is going to change your culture and get these guys to buy into playing winning basketball I think that’s just extra incentive to go with him man yeah he’s one more than any Charlotte Hornet seriously like these dudes are brought up in an environment where winning basketball is some sort of distant dream that it’s like not even worth pursuing like think about how different PJ Washington looked just in terms of his commitment to the defensive end like there was always clearly the ability there 67 with a 73 wingspan good vertical athlete easily can guard multiple positions fluid mover but he was playing in Charlotte and he was just kind of allowed to roam freely offensively and that’s not to say that PJ was like consistently great you have inconsistent shooting he’s not some Elite Defender but once he got into a winning situation he clearly improved significantly all that to say Donovan linging is a a two-time national champ he and Castle both just have that sort of mentality they’re brought up in that sort of environment at Yukon I think that’s another good point that’s another reason to me Charlotte is in a really bad place just culturally as an organization they’ve had nothing but drama in losing for years basketball players going insane poor Kai Jones I think kingan would be a nice stabilizing force on that front as well oh no what did they do oh no Carson you’re actually not going to believe this Carson you’re actually not going to believe this oh no Charlotte’s Gonna Take Salon bro wow wow not my favorite not my favorite Salon is the biggest project in this draft and he has been a big time Riser because he’s also one of the absolute best athletes in this draft this to me is too too high for him Clingan is just so so safe now I understand the upside you’re talking about a freak athlete and he knows how to use that athleticism offensively he’s a good cutter defensively really good on an off ball the three-point shot is going to be a question but it was improved this past year but there’s a lot that needs polishing the ball handling the consistency of the shot like he’s a riser but he is very raw so I like him this is too high especially considering kinging on the board I mean I think Charlotte just lost the draft I think Charlotte just lost the draft I mean letting kingan slip through your fingers to me is just a massive massive misstep and I Carson you you tell me to pump the brakes if you think I’m too high on this like to me kingan immediately makes like a 10- win impact positively for Charlotte like I think it takes them from like a a 20 win team to like a 30- win team in terms of what he brings defensively and I like Salone as a prospect my comparison for him uh in the pre-draft process was the Energizer Bunny he’s got a great motor he is a great athlete the guy doesn’t stop he is going to make winning plays for you like crashing the glass playing relentlessly on defense but you said it dude like he is a project to me oh yeah where it’s gonna take him a long time and and the biggest red flag is that his offensive game is so so raw he shot 37% from the field last season and let me scroll down here so I can get to his numbers you know I had him as like the last lottery guy he’s shot 50% you know true shooting he’s really limited as an on ball Creator he lacks an elite First Step he struggles to finish through contact he’s a really limited scorer over 50% of his shots uh last season came from behind the arc and this is a guy that shot 35% from there so I I just he’s got a really really raw offensive game yeah that that I’m concerned about like he is this is probably the biggest reach in the draft thus far and I just cannot believe that Charlotte let kingan slip through their fingers it just seemed like a match made in heaven to me and philosophically if you’re Charlotte what are you doing like what is the direction you’re obviously not going to make the leap into contention in a year or even in two years but it’s like this is going to be lamelo’s season are you reaching the point where you are just fed up with his injuries he’s not available enough you’re not prioritizing him in terms of how you’re trying to build this team I don’t know you already paid him and there’s not going to be a lot of people eager to take on that contract with that sort of uncertainty and Brandon Miller is really good already like My Philosophy with this draft broadly is different from other years because I don’t view many of the prospects at the top of the class as highly there’s not a lot of stars to be found in this class whatsoever there’s a lot of good winning basketball players and especially if you’re a team that already has two at least potentially foundational pieces two guys who are that talented two guys who you have acted as though you believe are those sort of foundational pieces up to this point I’d be taking the safe pick at a really valuable position who’s just in a different tier as a prospect to me Salon is a really really stand out athlete but he’s really raw and there tends to be an incredibly wide range of outcomes that come with those guys but more often than not it doesn’t work out on the high end and even if it does takes multiple years and the question to me I think you posed it Carson when do we start winning basketball games when do we say hey man we’re going to kick into gear we’re getting out yeah it just doesn’t move the needle immed mediately for me I and and if I’m Portland how the hell do I pass kinging look I know that you got DeAndre Aon I’m hopping all over that man might as well dude take the best guy it’s crazy though the Hornets won 43 games two years ago think about that and now they’re in a position where they’re certainly not going to do that Donovan kingan does go seventh to the Blazers wow it is not the most intuitive fit obviously those those two are not playable together kingan and Aon I would take kingan though he’s the best guy and I understand that there’s some Aon optimists and some Aon truthers out there and he’s always going to produce is he a guy who I am confident in anchoring my defense no is he a guy who I’m going to be frustrated with offensively yes does he have limitations in terms of IQ and passing ability absolutely does he space the floor no is he really good at push shots touch shots yes how many rhetorical questions can I ask myself we’re going to see I’m trying to set the world record but klling is just the best guy kinging to me is a top three Prospect in this class and so you get him at seven Portland is a team that already has a lot of talent in the back court add it to the front Court uh everybody in this stream I do not know if you were religious Carson I would like uh for you to pretend to grab my hand through this screen we are going to quickly pray to the basketball gods that the Portland railblazers can have a clean bill of health with this new big man that they have acquired we know the oh seriously we know the very nasty basketball history that the Portland Trailblazers have endured and to the basketball Gods I just pray to you the Donovan kingan has a clean bill of health and can have a very long and successful basketball career here in Portland amen amen beautiful now how about the Blazer’s Outlook we’ve talked about clinging a good b as a prospect why we like him so much how does he fit how do you feel about their level of roster Talent overall you know I it obviously isn’t the greatest fit but I I’ve said this about a couple of teams thus far Portland is so far away to me it does not matter about what current assets you have in place you are here to take the best player available and the guy that is going to help you win games DeAndre Aiden has no bearing on this piik to me whatsoever I don’t care that he was the number one pick I don’t care that he shot over 50% from the mid-range last season I don’t know how much DeAndre Aon really impacts winning so to that I say I can shop de Andre Aon now right forever however much longer his contract is I don’t know how much longer it is off the top of my head I would be actively shopping him for the rest of his contract and seeing if I can get another piece that fits I really like what they’re putting together here man I like scoot Henderson longterm it was a rough rookie season it’s going to look rough for young rookie guards man it’s just the reality of the league it’s going to take a minute for him to really reach his potential I mean kingan’s just a winner dude so you know I don’t really care about the fit uh DeAndre Aiden to me I am going to shop I’m gonna see what I can get for him I’ve got my offensive centerpiece and Scoot Henderson I got my defensive anchor and Donovan kinging I’m a static I I mean this is the steal of the draft to me to get him here at number seven he’s just an immediate impact winner dude I I think Portland’s crushed this and I think aen maybe you can sucker somebody into taking you got two more years at a pretty high dollar value but again people seem to talk themselves into him I would not and they just got and they just got Denny like I’m I’m liking this from Portland they got Denny I think that they could be pretty competitive it’s going to depend on scoot’s progression and he’s got to get consistent in a number of ways taking care of the basketball got to be a lot more consistent as a jump shooter but it’s not at all surprising when rookie guards are inefficient erratic but he was a pretty extreme version of it for most of the year but he got better as the year went along he’s a really really high-end athlete and I think at some point you’re just gonna be moving ant Simons I love ant Simons I’ve always loved ant Simons but I think that you’d probably be more inclined to get more quality two-way Wings Shaden you’re getting offensive pop with and Robert Williams you’re always going to be concerned about the health maybe he’s a guy who you can move they were just able to move Brogden for a guy who to me is both younger and better obviously they attached picks but I do like what Portland’s building I think that they have a lot of talent and uh listen it’s just a great value pick I I wouldn’t be prioritizing DeAndre Aiden or anything over taking a player who to me is so clearly the best guy on the board like kingan now we have the Spurs picking again at eight Logan boy this is a fun draft for them like Stefan castle at number four where do you think they go here I think they’ve kind of lucked uh they’ve really lucked themselves into walking into Matas velis here which I really like as a complimentary asset uh with what they’re already building here or Cody Williams I like both of them kind of equally I like both prospects also I want to add real quick uh with the 14th pick if if somehow if he lingers around at that point I would love if Portland could get Dalton connect I mean you were get well they don’t have 14 anymore oh they traded for Denny okay still a great pick from them you know what this is just a win for San Antonio if they get Cody Williams or if they get Matas buellis they’re literally like three or four I think on my big board uh I think Cody probably has a slightly higher offensive ceiling um there’s just a certain ease that Cody gets to his looks he’s so long he gets to these layup so easily um off of the glass he’s a really great cutter I trust his shot it’s kind of a question of what do you want more I I think Cody brings you a little bit more offense immediately I think buellis brings you a little bit more defensive immediately but I think in terms of complimentary Wings these guys are both great they’re going to compliment wmi um exceptionally well and they’re going to complement Stefon Castle exceptionally well long wings with really well-rounded skill sets I I just think this is a Win Regardless for San Antonio agreed these are two really good Pro ECT still on the board in a mold that is super valuable for the Spurs they are sort of building from scratch obviously you have wemi and then I think vasel is a guy you really do want to hold on to but outside of that Kellin Johnson Sohan I know a lot of people really like for his defensive value in the playmaking flashes I do worry about his offensive skill limitations the one little concern with buellis or Cody Williams is that that’s now two not non shooting wings that you’re taking but two guys were shooting as a question oh Logan you keep on getting this news before me where’ they go we got a curveball Carson uh it seems like uh this is what Shams is saying pleas be toic the Spurs are apparently selecting Rob Dillingham and trading him to Minnesota whoa this is high for Dillingham in my opinion if you were going to go offensively oriented guard I understand that topic is sliding like crazy I just think you’re getting more highlevel traits that you can Bank on you’re getting more downhill pressure you’re getting consistent finishing you’re getting real pick and roll Poise and pace and playmaking and I think the shot he really could figure out but topic probably wasn’t going to go this High I didn’t expect Dillingham to go this High though he is uh a dynamic scoring talent and he’s a Kentucky guard and if you bank on Kentucky guards historically that’s not a bad strategy but along with what we’ve been talking about I have been more comfortable banking on a lot of floors in this class Dillingham is jittery he’s quick he’s a dynamic ball handler he’s got really good floater touch he’s a really good pull-up shooter he’s awesome off the catch he’s got the shot Creation with the step backs like pullup shooting basically all the scoring skill outside the paint he’s really quite good in the question is just his finishing where he struggled and uh what level of a passer is he is he sort of lead playmaker and then defensively he’s going to struggle no matter what he’s small he’s slight like really small we’re talking 61 with a 6-2 wingspan Minnesota do you know what they gave up it says uh Shams just put the caveat that sourses say he could be on the move to Minnesota so I really don’t know what a a trade like that would entail that’s really interesting if it is Minnesota I see the vision because you want to inject more halfcourt skill into that team like that was obviously a limitation for them especially when Conley or like if you don’t have both them on the floor you have clear offensive skill limitations you’re talking about wings who are going to defend their asses off but their value is really just shooting with Jaden McDaniels with nikil Alexander Walker with Kyle Anderson the shot is super inconsistent so I’m with them adding more offensive skill it’s just a little high it’s a little high for me I’m surprised to see Rob go this early asmi uh Shams has confirmed it that Minnesota is trading for Rob Dillingham so uh we do not know yet what San Antonio is getting in return I will say this I I’m skeptical about his floor but Dillingham also has one of the highest ceilings in this class right like when you’re looking at a star kind of scoring skill set Dylan has one of the most fun prospects in the class man like you said jittery explosive got great touch he’s a lot of fun he’s somewhere on that the thing with these guys is it’s he’s somewhere on this bones Highland to Tyrese Maxi Spectrum so where is he going to land on that Spectrum also memphis’s pick is in Carson they are taking Zack Edy I like it I like it Memphis has a very clear need and that is a stabilizing five who can do what Steven Adams did who can anchor you on the defensive glass who can hang physically with fives on the interior and allow Triple J to do what he does as a four in Rome Edy is extremely polarizing and I didn’t quite expect him to go this high but if there was a team to take him in the top 10 Memphis makes sense the guy is a super high floor his production per minute is going to be ridiculous in this league he’s an overwhelming post scorer I say this stat all the time but this dude individually posted up more times than I believe every individual NBA team one dude in a third of the games more than the total for every NBA team and you know why that is when you’re seven4 300 pounds and you have legit touch and legit body control you’re incredibly difficult to stop and obviously he’s going to eat up fouls and defensively he is a legitimately really good rim protector and offensively he does bring some playmaking feel on top of the uh just dominant interior scoring which goes for him as a role man as well and we’ve even seen flashes of shooting touch if he figured out the shot then I think this would be quite a good pick it’s higher than I expected him to go but my dream scenario for Memphis was trade up get clinging Ed is kind of the closest thing to that that you can get in this class the concern for them is going to be okay when you don’t have a five out offense how successful can you be not that they’ve ever had a five out offense but that would be the vision with Triple J at the five in a post Adams world I just don’t think Triple J at the five is viable defensively I like this man I’m confident Ed is gonna be good he’s gonna struggle to start guarden space but you got a lot of great perimeter Defenders you got Triple J as your RoR he can hold down that paint I mean that defense is going to be great and I know a lot of people are very low on Zack eedy he’s an immediate Impact Center and some teams just aren’t going to be able to go guard the guy like you talk about the playmaking chops there’s just going to be some teams that have to send doubles because they don’t have an answer for him and so it’s kind of a tale of both sides of the court on the defensive side of the basketball oh my God Memphis is going to have a terrifyingly large uh half court defense good luck going anywhere close to the rim and scoring on this team on offense it’s probably going to look really ugly do I like the idea of John Morant driving into a paint with Triple J and Zack Edy not really but this is a team that has built their identity on being a great team defense and that’s exactly what they were going to be next season this was their biggest need I wonder long term if kle wear is a little bit more of a seamless fit but I don’t think kle we has the floor that Zack Edy bring not as ready right now he is a uh the comp I would give to Edy is like a even bigger jumbo sized aita zubot and that’s a damn good basketball player man so it is a little high for Ed a little higher than I was expecting him but I I actually love this for Memphis I like it too dude out of all of the centers when you think about what specifically you need it’s not just a center it’s a big ass physical Center and it is a dude who is ready to contribute now because jaw gets back on that floor Memphis is hitting the ground running there are people who think they’re going to win the West the expectation is you’re going to win 50 games you’re going to be as good as you were if not better before everything went down with y’all this past year because now you got Vince Williams now you got GG Jackson everybody’s gotten a little bit better I think for that purpose Edy is a really good fit and I’m really excited to see what he can do in the league public opinion of him is so low because people don’t like the giant right he’s got every physical advantage and I understand concerns about him guarding in space I do and I don’t think he’s a great defensive big but that pure Rim protection and rebounding he’s going to be quite good especially on the glass like you’re replacing basically Stephen Adams there who’s an exceptional rebounder of the basketball so I like it man all right we’re going to take a real quick break before we get to pick number 10 for some words from DraftKings we will be right back never mind actually we don’t have the ad in place no break sucks to be you guys you don’t get to hear the DraftKings ad all right so number 10 we have the Jazz picking Logan where do you think Utah goes uh I actually have the inside scoop already so Utah is apparently going to take Cody Williams here at number 10 I like the pick also we have updated uh the Timberwolves are acquiring or excuse me the Spurs are acquiring Minnesota’s unprotected first in 2031 and they are also getting a protected first round pick swap in 2030 so the Spurs that is it yeah two firsts two firsts six and seven years from now for the San Antonio Spurs yes sir from the Minnesota Timberwolves who are quite good and have a superstar who’s 22 years old we’ll see man that doesn’t make any sense to me dude that is weird for the Spurs I think I would have much rather had uh Matas buellis but or Cody Williams for that matter yeah somebody in the chat says that they’re compiling picks maybe like I’m all in on the Spurs again going in on a Trey young going in on the right Dynamic star guard but I don’t think that two firsts that far down the line from a really good team right now are better than the eighth pick in this draft I was excited I thought they had good options on the board I thought there were good Wings again toit I’m higher on than most at this point but I would have liked to see him go to San Antonio that’s interesting but let’s talk Cody Williams at 10 to the Jazz Logan because this is a guy who we both like I would have taken him higher than this how does he fit in Utah I also would have taken him higher man I think Cody Williams a guy that would have fit in a lot of different spots uh this last season in Colorado 133 and two on 57 4272 splits he’s 6’8 180 pounds with the 7 foot2 wingspan like you were getting a guy that is just a super long agile and fluid athlete some of the things you see that his brother Jaylen Williams does on Oklahoma City Cody shows flashes of the body control on drives the ability to slam on the brakes I love his touch I think he’s methodical I think he’s crafty he plays at his own pace he takes good shots he makes good decisions there’s things I think Cody needs to work on um defensive awareness reaction time kind of the general ability there he needs to work on his handle a little bit but he does a lot of things at a very high level man and I think he is one of the few guys in this class that has an All-Star kind of ceiling man I can see it whether he reaches that ceiling or not though I think you were getting such a high impact just winner man a long skilled fluid Wing I think he would have fit in a lot of spots and uh Utah is one of those man I I don’t I wonder if he’s going to start immediately alongside marinin I wonder if they’ll bring him off the bench behind a Taylor Hendricks in a Markin in I’m interested to see what his role immediately will be but this guy was a top four Prospect in this class to me so to get him at 10 is an absolute steal I like Cody and I think that you’re getting a lot of really positive traits from him he’s not going to do anything at an a level he’s going to do a lot of things at a B level for his size 67 with a 7-1 wingspan he’s got nice change in Gears he’s got good Pace out of pick and roll I don’t view him as a guy who’s going to be a highlevel Creator he was just 20 21st percentile as a pick and roll Creator this year forces a lot of Runners and floaters and he was not good there shot about 30% on those and he’s not a proven three-point shooter up to this point now he shot the ball well but it was on low volume and as a free throw shooter he was about 71% so I think he’s going to be a solid shooter but he is unproven there but it’s the things that you get in terms of feel playmaking it’s the defensive versatility I understand that he is slight and that’s where Logan you talk about finding how you want to organize all these pieces in Utah I think he can totally start in your back court we’ll see what they do with Colin ston keontay George obviously has emerged as a guy for them but I think Cody Williams in this league could be a two and I think that he could find a lot of success there I also think some concerns about his slightness are a bit overplay just because we have a genetic sample here we have his brother and his brother added 15 20 pounds of muscle this past year his brother’s not so slight anymore so that to me is encouraging just in terms of having that sort of frame and having that potential to bulk up and become more of a legit forward but I think he’s got a lot of positive traits in his game he’s a guy who I’m quite confident in as a jack of all trades sort of Wing So I really like that for Utah I think you got one of the best prospects in this draft and they’re another team where it’s like you’re not really drafting for need you’re kind of just drafting for who’s the best dude out there and you can almost always have more wings Chicago Logan picking at 11 the pick is already in for them and to me the most surprising guy probably who’s still available is buellis this has always been a class where the margins just aren’t that big between these guys a lot of these dudes have question marks do you think that’s where they go here at 11 yeah they’re gonna take buellis I think it’s a good pick he’s to me the best value Guy look at me I knew what they were going to do without even having it confirmed I think he’s the best available guy I’m I’m shocked he fell this far buellis was the number three guy on my big board so for them to get him at 11 I think is is one of the biggest deals of the draft and I still think they need a center I’m disappointed that they’re not going to come away from this draft with a big man uh if you have watched any of our podcasts I am not a fan of Nicole lusich I would rather they move off him sooner rather than later you know what man with Chicago I don’t even want to give them props for taking the right Prospect look let me get this out let me get this let’s see how they [ __ ] it up huh all of the reporting is saying that apparently they’re trying to rebuild a winner now along with giddy LaVine and Demar D rozan that’s what the championship Corp that’s a dynasty bro I just I don’t know what the Bulls think that they have I don’t know what the front office do they have a brain look this is a good pick I’ll tell you they have Luca donic Michael Jordan and uh I guess Zack LaVine is just kind of One of a Kind Zack LaVine no need to say anymore the day that the Bulls move off of Demar D Ro and vich and Zack LaVine nerd s is gonna throw a pizza party and all you guys are invited okay we’re gonna have a big fat celebration we get bazis is a good pick I think they needed front Court help apparently they’re trying to trade Patrick Williams so uh buellis can play the three or the four I think it’s a good position of need for them I think he’s the best player available he does a lot of connecting things he’s a good decision maker he’s a great cutter his positioning is impeccable offensively and defensively he’s going to be a really good basketball player uh Point Blank period he’s an instinctual shot blocker he’s got a great motor I worry about his offensive game long- term in terms of how he’s going to create for himself offensively right uh not super explosive I not super Shifty not an elite shooter not a great finisher at The Rim so longterm I’m concerned about him offensively but he does a lot of winning things immediately and I think that’s super valuable to have in this draft class and I do I do believe in him long term as an offensive Prospect uh what does this mean for Chicago I don’t know because I never know what Chicago is going to do in the off season so good pick Chicago I will give you props for that way to go guys it is a good pick it’s kind of the no-brainer at this point I agree with you that a center would make sense there’s not a center available at this time who’s on buell’s level as a prospect I would say that he’s a top seven guy in this class and just brings you a ton of versal value really good secondary rim protector is going to be able to defend in space and you kind of hit him with the Josh giddy weaknesses graphic weakness is everything when you were talking about his scoring but he does absolutely bring positive value there especially in transition he’s going to be really good but a lot of it is his playmaking at his size and uh he is a good athlete he’s not super explosive in the half court necessarily but he’s definitely a good full-court athlete and he’s a really good cutter like with his level of size and skill I’m pretty confident in him he just needs polish gotta polish the handle a bit it’s good for his size got to be a little bit tighter and has to improve a bit finishing through contact and he has to get better as a pure shooter more consistent so it’s just not going to be about on ball scor with him in my opinion it’s going to be hey we have this power forward who can do a lot of things pretty darn well that’s buellis I love that for Chicago I think it’s a really good pick so now Logan one of the most interesting picks of the draft Oklahoma City at number 12 I know who I want them to take who do you want them to take either Tristan D Sila or Dalton connect that’s who I’m debating but I wasn’t expecting connect to be available here mhm I’m going to say Tristan D Silva I know that’s been your guy for this spot I think it just makes a little too much sense because when I look at what connect brings I think connect brings Elite scoring immediately for a rookie and he brings a ton of Polish there but I just think they need a guy in trist to Silva’s mold a little bit more a bigger Wing who can take on more defensive assignments he brings more size and rebounding more connective traits connect I think is by far the best scoring Prospect right now but when you’ve got guys like Aaron Wiggins when you’ve got guys like kasan Wallace when you’ve got guys like Isaiah Joe I just don’t know if that’s as big of a need as the Silva is and so yeah I think your I think your boy D Silva makes a lot of sense here to be fair as much as we can like all of those young guards and wings for OKC it is real that the lack of uh consistent creation from those guys that the lack of reliable high-end shot making was a limiting factor for them in the playoffs like we can make it all about Josh giddy haha he can’t shoot they can roam off of him I’m all for that but nobody was able to consistently enough hold those Dallas bigs accountable for roaming off of them part of that you could say was playmaking but also SGA did a lot of good playmaking in that series and it just wasn’t rewarded guys missed open shots or he made the first pass but guys didn’t keep moving the ball to keep the defense in rotation connect is one of the best offensive players in this class and if you just want to talk about a high floor score he is that guy and he fits everywhere moves away from the ball curling around screens cutting relocating real explosive scoring potential is not a great athlete not like an Above the Rim finisher but a solid athlete with good body control good touch eats up free throws at a pretty high rate really good three-point shooter can play make some but like if you’re talking about him being your third guy offensively I really like that for OKC so dilva is who I was thinking but I think most people would say connect is a better Prospect than D Silva both of these are old guys these are polished 23y old grown men I love D Silva’s archetype he really does everything at at least a B level rebounding playmaking halfcourt and transition three-point shooting driving I’m just so confident in him being good and I do want OKC to add a dude like that in the front court but if the pick is connects I’m not pissed about that I’m not pissed about that because you are solidifying your offensive personnel and improving your shooting and I think that’d be really good yeah I think those have to be the two I think that’s I think that’s got to be the pick yeah wherever you go and you make some good points too I mean that was a shortcoming that’s not a question connect is one of the most polished guys offensively I’ve seen in in a minute like I trust the shot I trust the movement I trust the decision- making basically everything that he brings offensively the other route they could go would be a big would be a Kell we I think would be most likely I don’t think you’re taking Missy this High I don’t think you’re taking donon Holmes this High even though I know that Thunder fans love him and I would see the case because he is more of a flexible five but I think Chet’s a five I think you want a big four D Silva is not the biggest four but again doesn’t have to be your answer he’s just a guy who fills that role I would have loved Denny to be the answer I guess they didn’t want him the dream answer is Lowry Markin as I always say we’ll see if they can make that happen but toil is a guy who you immediately know you can play in Big Time situations so connect though it’s just uh more versatile impact with d Silva at slightly more a position of need I would be happy with either one of those picks if I were OKC okay now we’re going to take just a quick break before they make this pick to get you guys some words from DraftKings get surprise us Logan I’m stunned I’m stunned they took toic they took topic oh I love me a little bit of toic man that’s good value what do you think about the fit here because honestly and and this is a loose comparison because I think he does something don’t even say don’t make me flame you don’t I won’t I won’t what do you what do you think of it to fit here what do you think of it to fit here bro was gonna say the GW here’s why niika toic is nothing like Josh giddy okay because people look at him and they say White Guy Foreign ball handler big really good passer how he score he not such a good athlete and he not such a good shooter I think there’s a dramatic difference in terms of the shiftiness that you get from topic the efficiency as a finisher around the rim uh his physicality in those situations his body control he’s way way more effective as a finisher in the paint and then the three-point shot to me is much more projectable that’s not to say that I’m not worried about it because he didn’t really show that intermediate game either but he’s an 87% free throw shooter that puts him in a different Stratosphere than Josh giddy who also had a busted ass jumper mechanically I think he’s a lot better and I can see why OKC would want to replenish their offensive skill in that way because we can talk about the stop making stuff from The Supporting Cast but really a big part of it was the playmaking it was the overall offensive IQ it was this super Dynamic Drive and kick offense that all of a sudden wasn’t so Dynamic anymore because it was really only one dude consistently stressing the defense jayob didn’t step up to the task consistently enough when giddy is off the floor because he’s unplayable because of his shooting you do lose a little bit of playmaking topic is a really really good offensive player now to play away from the ball alongside SGA and jdub he definitely needs to prove himself more as a shooter and another thing for OKC is you love their defensive versatility you love that there’s not really weak points to attack he’s not tiny but he’s six7 with a negative wingspan not a particularly good athlete like he’s not going to give you plus defensive impact I really like the prospect I see the vision I would have preferred either of the two guys even though I actually think topic is like a significantly better Prospect I think topic is a top five Prospect in this class it’s just gonna hinge on his shot I mean if he can knock down shots off the catch I love it but I do think he’s a guy who’s goingon to need to have the ball in his hands a lot and SGA right now is that guy so like the pick don’t love it as much as I could just considering I think the value for the talent is fantastic do you think he starts immediately no I don’t so what do they CU I mean they started giddy for most of the year what do you think their starting five looks like well I think that it’s probably gonna be Kon I would think that you’re ready to allow him to take on that sort of responsibility obviously you’re extra small at that point and that’s why I continue to want them to add a four the ideal outcome is there’s a four starting in place of Josh giddy with the pieces they have place right now though probably say it’s Kason I mean Isaiah Joe is the guy who they turn to I would just think kon’s already better to me he’s a better point of attack Defender he’s a better playmaker he’s a really good shooter Aaron Wiggins if he were more consistent as a shooter would be the guy but I think that kon’s probably the most complete option in that spot and I think in a lot of ways having topit sort of staggered with SGA is the best thing that you can do because then you have a really good ball handler on on the floor at all times yeah I think that probably is the move I I just I was so locked in on it’s exciting I’m excited OKC got another really good talent that excites me the entire way I just expected uh I expected him to take a forward man I’m just surprised that they went with this but I like topic and you talk about them you know he may have a negative wingspan he’s still a big body guy right like in isolation this is still not a guy that be able to go at you know I like this man I I’m I’m stunned but I do think it’s I think it’s good value I really like topic so it’ll be interesting to see how OKC does address that four spot address that front court but you’re getting a guy who was a 90th percentile pick and roll Creator 92nd percentile isolation Creator this dude can play man he is used to seeing coverages where you’re blitzing him you’re consistently sending two to the ball he picks you apart at his size he can see so many angles he can make every pass he’s fundamentally selfless if that shot comes along this is the dude who I am most confident in being a star offensive player I think he has immense potential to be the best offensive player in this class and I’d probably classify him as the best offensive Prospect even with the shot question at this point because I do think the playmaking the driving is something that I’m so so confident in translating it’s a exciting man OKC keep getting good basketball players Logan on the clock now at number 13 we have your Sacramento Kings where do you think they go I’ve got two prospects that I’ve really got my eye on one is kle wear uh the reason I say that is just because past couple Seasons you know the Kings haven’t had a backup five to really turn to for Reliable minutes and so I think that you know just in in certain spots being able to play him 20 minutes a night in non sabonis minutes or maybe some setups alongside sabonis if you need would just be valuable to have the other guy I’m really interested in is connect considering that he’s available and how Sacramento could finally move off of Harrison Barnes man like that’s what I’m really intrigued by move Keegan to the four put connect at the three and just you know say goodbye to Harrison Barnes The Herder and connect Wing tandem defensively doesn’t really excite me yeah I I’m not a big herder guy long term either but I mean you’d have a lot of offensive skill but I don’t know that that’s been the issue for the Kings I just can’t stand Harrison Barnes man I cannot stand that guy would you take connect over Kell whereare if you were in this spot so tough what do you think about the Silva here do you think the Silva works at all in this spot I bro I would take the Silva anywhere I would have taken the Silva one I really do think he makes sense I mean if you’re talking about replacing Harrison Barnes well you want to replace the size you want to replace the shooting you want to get a better rebounder you want to get a better playmaker I’ve got your guy you want a better Defender if I didn’t already say that Tristan Silva I would like that a lot but I don’t think it’s gonna happen I don’t think that the world is quite as high on Tristan to Silva as I am but for any playoff team I think he makes sense I mean he’s a really really high L connective piece this is an interesting situation because connect is still on the board I would think Center’s the most intuitive the pick is in Logan the pick is in I’m a little confused some rumors are saying that we may potentially move this trade we’ve had a lot of trade talks but we’re in a surprising stretch here things are getting a little weird apparently Sacramento is taking Providence is Devin Carter uh this one that makes sense actually I like that pick I like that pick a lot I don’t hate it I just wonder like what do you think the vision is are they going to play Davon alongside Devin Carter Off the Bench I think that Devin Carter is the sort of dude who you want to start and actually I’m surprised I didn’t mention him just now he kind of slipped my mind because when we did our mat mock I tried to sell you on this very pick Devin Carter to me is a pretty ideal compliment to dearon Fox in your backourt because you think about the vision of what a Davon Mitchell could bring right that sort of point of attack esy defense alongside your offensively oriented lead guard Devin Carter is bigger he’s longer he’s way more polished offensively he’s more versatile there when it comes to shooting I mean he’s willing to do basically anything offensively he’ll screen for you he’ll cut just the sort of guy you’re confident in bringing a winning impact and another very polished veteran college player not the highest ceiling but a pretty darn High floor I would honest ly be comfortable starting him over herder like I think that he’s at that level already and I would just rather not have a defensive liability on the floor if I’m the Kings they’ve improved defensively but they obviously are always GNA have some issues there with sabonis the five I really like the Devon Carter pick I actually think it might have been the best pick available for them I know you don’t like him as much but the fit is good and the value is pretty good and he does a lot of winning things the only thing that I worry about is scoring but again like you said why are we worried about that in Sacramento man Sacramento generates buckets at will he also brings uh some potential as like a back door lob threat man like you saw them utilize him on the backside he’s a great positional rebounder yeah great rebounder and he’s a better he’s a great off ball Defender too he’s he’s also really crafty one of the things that I mentioned too is I just love his offensive process Carter never really seems to force the issue offensively right like I can worry about his jump shot long term I can worry about him really creating easy offense and easy buckets for himself but every other aspect he brings really high value I like his I like his methods and his process offensively man he’s he’s a really well-rounded player and he’s really polished so I’m surprised but I’m not mad and the Kings really do need defense man so I’m happy with this man I this is this is an improvement and he’s a guy who can play immediately for us so I’m okay with this I’m okay with this pick I’m more than okay with it I really like it I think he’s a really nice fit in that backourt now you have your combination you have your offensive juice from Malik you have your offensive juice from herder and you have your doit all versatile defensive minded winning player sort of guarding Devin Carter and you’re a basketball team that is trying to take that leap to the next level right you are already going to be in playoff conversations you’re trying to get into some real conversations you’re trying to get into second round conversations and if you’re picking in the draft like Devin Carter is as good an option as anybody in this range to help you do that so now the last pick that we’re going to be live for tonight Logan before we come back tomorrow with our reaction show to the first round and we’ll touch on some of the picks that have not yet transpired this is now the Wizards pick because of the trade with the Portland Trailblazers for Denny of diaa sitting here at 14 what do you like for Washington Logan I like the Silva here honestly I know they just gave up Denny F deha but that’d be a waste I I wouldn’t want to see that put to Silva somewhere cuz everybody picking right after this you’re telling me before like the heat Sixers Lakers stretch all these teams that are going to be in the playoffs that could use that sort of archetype he’s going to go to the Wizards and toil away now High floor guy I won’t allow it I mentioned him because he’s the highest Prospect left on my board uh I kind of like donon Holmes or jacobe Walter maybe his long-term guys but apparently apparently they’re gonna take bub Carrington here out of Pittsburgh Carson um connect is falling I’m shocked I am actually shocked but guess what man you talk about the Silva falling to some winning basketball teams so is connect dude yeah listen I like bub bub is one of the toughest dudes in this class after Rob dilling You could argue that he is the toughest dude in this class and when it just comes to like Dynamic shot making he’s got it and he has all of the uh Aesthetics of a tough ass bucket in his bag right he’s got the ball handling he’s got the wiggle he’s got the shiftiness he’s got the shot creation off the bounce and uh you’ve definitely seen flashes of playmaking for him but he is one of those guys in a lot of ways similar to Dillingham hold on let’s really think about the similarities three-letter first name last name three syllables Dillingham Carrington they sound quite similar and they play quite similarly so I like bub I just worry with him about finishing around the rim as well and I worry about the level that he can defend at so for Washington I don’t mind it because they are on uh such a long-term timeline like if you’re talking about connect at 23 versus Bob Carrington at just about 19 I can definitely because he’s one of the youngest players in this class I can buy it from that angle I think connect’s a better Prospect but the timeline for Washington is different than a lot of other teams that are picking in this range I don’t mind it either he’s tough he is tough as hell maybe it’ll work out you know he’s one of the younger guys like you said man for Washington it’s it’s not you’re not looking out here trying to get all the winning assets right now you’re not trying to get all the winning pieces you want guys that have really high long-term upside and uh you know whether bub Carrington is a really high level six man or whether he’s a a high level scoring starter I think it’s a good long-term pick and I understand it from their perspective he’s a lot lower on my big board but that’s kind of where he’s at right now in terms of a winning asset comparative to other guys but he’s got a pretty high ceiling I I don’t hate this pick for Washington long term neither do I this was a fun Lottery man started off pretty much by the book but we got some surprises down the stretch if you had to pick one what would you say is your favorite pick that we’ve seen so far I think my favorite pick actually might be Edy to Memphis man I really like that I really like that pick too dude I do I do I think they address their I think they address their biggest need in the draft man at getting a five I think he’s got immediate impact and like I said dude their identity has always been defense and that defense is going to be freaking menacing with Triple J and Ed on the inside I really do like that pick I think that my favorite combination of fit and value probably goes with Cody Williams at 10 to the Jazz but just in terms of fit I love Edy and I am really confident that he’s going to be a good player not a great one but a good one a productive one in his 20 to 25 minutes whatever it may be and I like buellis at 11 to the Bulls as well both of which were set up by a couple of reaches I also think topic pure value is a pretty awesome pick but I gotta say I don’t love Dillingham at eight to Minnesota I can understand the fit but honestly knowing what they gave up I guess it’s not that bad and I can see the value that he could bring offensively I think that my least favorite pick is probably salon at six but Ron Holland at five is close just cuz salon so raw Holland I really worry about him in AAR playing together as do I I I think my least favorite pick is Salon not anything against him it’s just that they passed on kingan it is just the fact that they passed on kingan kingan to me clearly but I would have preferred buellis I would have preferred Cody Williams saw we had spawn hour in the chat for a minute talking about how Charlotte’s not in a p place to be like prioritizing dudes who can contribute now and I don’t necessarily disagree with that although I do think they’re in a weird spot because of lamelo’s age but they were also just better dudes on the board and I feel pretty confident about that so we’ll see maybe Salon turns into the next Giannis can’t discredit the possibility as I’ve said it’s the seu nboa Tanis Spectrum everybody in that archetype has got to fall somewhere in that range all right everybody appreciate you guys joining us for the live we’re not done with draft content of course because the draft is not over but we’re not going to go live for the entire duration of the first round we’ll see how the draft over two days plays personally my gut instinct I don’t 1. You guys are the best duo for NBA around. Stopped watching after my Wolves got smacked but i loved the coverage all through the playoffs. Thanks for your analysis!

  2. One thing you guarantee is that Atlanta is going to do the wrong thing with a high pick. There is a reason why I'm an Atlanta native, but not a Hawks fan. Terrible org.

  3. these two have unwavering confidence even after being wrong countless times on most things. top class clown 👍🏻🤣
