Good buy low. Stone continues to impress with margin moves

  2. DJ_NoobKilla

Don’t mind this at all. He shot 39% from 3 in his rookie season so the shooting is there

  3. the_kelson

Love the move. Only disappointed because Shead at 44 is no longer an option

  4. Shade_Raven

Had a historic rookie season shooting the ball for a 18yr old wing but he’s been struggling recently with mental health/family issues.

    Good buy low!

Knew we wouldn’t be picking at 44 just thought it we’d go get a big man with a trade. Not mad at this trade , more youth and potential

I’m just banking he can turn it around after a really poor sophomore season. He’s still young and in that range where you can just trade 44th overall for him, low risk with potentially a good return if he can find any semblance of his rookie year.

    “So no Shead?”

The pick was going to me meh, so getting a young player in a 1:1 deal is a win. I doubt we would have drafted a much better player than the one we got.

Looked promising in his rookie season. 6-6” with a good clip. Turns 21 in August so should be interesting to see how he does in preseason.

Buy low, find out quick type move if he can contribute.

This is a can we fix him trade. Great player at Duke. Hopefully Ime can work with him.

That is a fucking steal right there. Man stone has been cooking last two off seasons.

  12. Master-Extreme5244

Getting him is better than taking a second round pick. Griffin is a very good 3pt shooter and he’s got defensive upside too.

  13. crunchwrap_eatr

6’6″ with a 7′ wingspan, has shown flashes of long-range consistency, can learn with Ime, has a two year contract (both years are club options), and he’s young and cost us only a second.

    I like it

Stone’s new reclamation project. Hopefully this one has a good ending.

He had some drama problems. His father is Adrian Griffin, the former coach of the Bucks. There was some kind of molestation accusations in his family iirc And also he is really religious and he said that some griups of people or something were going to hell on his Twitter then took time off from the Hawks.

He also struggled with his shot and stop playing as much when Snyder took over the team. Basically that’s why he went from a promising rookie season to getting traded for the 44th pick in the weak draft. Hopefully he can get back on track for you guys

  16. he will compete for minutes with Eason, Whitmore, Tate, and Jeff Green….but if he can shoot 40% plus from three, he will be an asset

  17. FilthyTexas

He was picked one ahead of Eason and both of them had injury in sophomore season

There are a lot of gems in the 2nd round as a lot of expected 1st round players dropped like Johnny Furphy and Filipowski but at 44 most of them might be gone by the time we picked.

As others said this is the new reclamation project after KPJ. Hopefully this one works out.

Hawks fan. Congratulations, Ime is one of two coaches who I back to get this kid to his very high ceiling.

  20. PapaLRodz

Cheap two way player w potential; exactly what the end of the bench is for. Allows us to either pick up Jeff Green’s option, $8M,  and trade him  or decline and let him ring hunt.

I’m so glad Stone is not like D.M. ,Rockets are actually developing our young talent now

  22. rybres123

just reading more into the dude.

apparently his nephew died at his dad’s house (former NBA coach Adrian griffin). His brother and sister-in-law seem to hold some animosity/blame Adrian for the death of the 2 year old, and seems Adrian is caught in the middle. I think his bro is actually suing Adrian in civil court.

No official word on it, but that’s what internet detectives think his personal time away from the game was last year.

obviously dark and hard stuff regardless of what went down. hopefully, a change of scenery does him well.

not much hope or expectation for him, as minutes will be tough to come by, but certainly fine with trading #44 for someone with his upside.

  23. deoriginalone

Good pick up. We don’t need a second round pick now and have to deal with a new kid and wonder how he’d perform at pro level. They known what they’re getting with Griffin. If they can put a solid supportive framework around him, he could be a great contributor off the bench.

Great deal. Low risk. High reward. No harm if it doesn’t work out. This is why you honor your word with Atlanta last season. People wanna deal with Stone.
