[Michael Scotto] Sources: Indiana Pacers forward Jalen Smith is declining his $5.4 million player option and will enter unrestricted free agency, @hoopshype has learned. Smith shot a career-high 59.2 percent from the field and 42.4 percent from 3-point range for the Pacers last season.

This would be such a good signing for us if he’s open to the minimum and then getting paid after. We’ve done that for A LOT of guys.

No real surprise. He will likely get more than that in free agency and he was out of the Pacers rotation by the end of the season. Indiana has a cluster of 4/5s, and Smith was the odd man out.
Trade one of our bigs and sign Jalen with whatever we can offer once we’re out of the 2nd apron
