The Borrego narrative seems weird

Borrego whiffed on the lakers job as they pivoted to Hurley and settled on JJ Reddick, a coach with zero experience. The Cavs job went to Atkinson who also is a retread coach getting his second head coaching gig. We hire Trajan from NOLA, he brings in quite a few staff members from NOLA, Borrego is talked up like a favorite before suddenly we sign Dennis Lindsey from Dallas and two days later trade for Tim Hardaway Jr from Dallas. Sean Sweeney, lead assistant from Dallas, is being interviewed or has been interviewed for the head coaching job. Micah Nori from Minnesota is also a head coaching candidate both having been in Detroit as assistants under Casey in the past.

Suddenly, Borrego withdraws his name from the contention? Might be true for various reasons…but it also feels like he wasn’t the favorite for the job anymore with the last two Dallas moves happening. I do hope it’s Sweeney personally. I would love Micah also. I was fine with Borrego as he’s more offensive minded but this does seem weird to me how things have turned out. Hoping we hear about who will be head coach this week. I know Trajan and his front office have been busting their ass with the draft, free agency, trades, AND now a coaching search (still glad we fired Monty tbh) but yeah if it’s Sweeney I think that’s a very good rookie head coach hire.

Also, apparently Jarrett Jack is still here? 🥸 seen wearing Pistons blew at the Ron Holland presser.

Personally I feel like the pistons need to go for someone young and new to grow with the team. Seeing how bad Monty was last year I’d rather take a chance on a new up and coming coach. Sweeney did well here and did a great job with Dallas and players love him. Looks like he traveled to one of Doncic games overseas recently so it goes to show how dedicated he is for his players
