One option: Kevin Love re-signs with the Heat at his minimum number of $3.3 million with an additional year attached. Would give the Heat about an extra $700,000 in room (from his $4 million player option) under the second apron to potentially keep some of its own free agents.

This salary cap era is going to be such a pain. Maybe once the TV deal kicks in, the penny pinching won’t matter as much for team building.
