WSU’s Wells drafted by Memphis Grizzlies with 39th pick
[Music] with the 39th pick in the 2024 NBA draft the Memphis Grizzlies select jayen Wells from Washington State University wcu basketball star Jaylen Wells became the 18th player in program history to be selected in the top 60 of the NBA draft it’s also the first time since 1986 1987 that a cougar was taken in back-to-back years Muhammad gay was drafted by the Atlanta Hawks last year really exciting Sports director Julian min joins us now and Julian how do you think wells will fit in the NBA well he’s everything you want in a player he can shoot he’s calm under pressure and he’s going to come in with a chip on his shoulder that’s for sure ESPN calw is one of the best stories in the draft that’s because he transferred from WSU or to WSU from division 2 Sonoma State and became one of the Cougar’s best players Wells only spent one season in pman but it was memorable he earned an Pack 12 honorable mention and was wcu’s top three-point shooter he was a major reason why Washington State went to the NCAA tournament for the first time since 2008 he’s ready to get to work and he already had a message for the Grizzlies fans what’s up Memphis fans excited to be a Grizzly can’t wait to come to Memphis you know get that good food so yeah see you in Memphis he’s already talking about the barbecue he’ll fit right in
