fucking hell. well he got his ~~20+ mill~~ 18 mill per year contract lol

    I wanted him though 🙁

  2. jeric13xd

Hopefully this pays off like the Coby deal

  3. IMKudaimi123

I expected him to get 4/$80 million so not bad. Still needs to earn it.

Let’s see if with DeMar likely gone and LaVine also possibly gone he can take the next step

  4. rhovickkkkkk

with how the contracts are inflated now, this is a good value in the long run

  5. Brad-Stevens

    Coby/Ayo/Giddey/PatWill/Buzelis

If the Bulls didn’t fuck up the Lavine and Vuc contracts they could actually be cooking up something but alas…

  6. The_Living_L

With the way contracts are that could be a great deal, wanted raps to go after him but looks like bulls are heading for a rebuild so doesn’t make sense to move on from him

  7. JoJonesy

Huh. That’s… I mean $18m/yr isn’t *that* much for a young player who’s shown some potential but hasn’t really put it together, but I wasn’t expecting a *five-year deal*

At the very least it’s not comically bad, which for the Bulls FO is a step up. Certainly *could* end up being a steal, the guy’s only 22, and if he doesn’t become a good NBA player I don’t think it’s enough money to become an albatross either

  8. SourBerry1425

I know people aren’t big on him, but I think this could become one of the best contracts in the league possibly.

  9. thats cheap and not bad

hopefully terry plays next year tho lol

  10. aligreaper19

we are in a world where a player like pat williams can make $90 million dollars

  11. transizzle

I’m not sure you can overpay a wing when every one of them has a 9 figure contract these days

  12. W pat’s gonna be really good I havent given up hope like half of chicago

  13. paranoidmoonduck

Patrick Williams has played 213 NBA games and has scored 20+ points in 10 of them.

  14. AllTheHolloway

There’s a world where this looks like an amazing steal of a contract in 2 years. And even worst case scenario for his development, I’d only see it as mildly bad contract for a team that won’t be contending in the next five years anyway.

  15. whitefang0824

18M per year for the next 5 yrs is already a big win

  16. Just need a couple of young bigs to really round out the youth movement. Sanogo re-signing is a start, Dalen has shown potential. We move off of Zach and Vuc and I like where we are as a rebuilding squad honestly. Lots of young players with lots of upside, project players and on very good deals to see where they go.

  17. Good gamble

That’s a great contract if he can take the things he does well to the next level. From a good defender to a great one. Upping his volume on 3s while maintaining his percentage.

If he stagants, its a slight overpay. Nothing that can’t be moved.

Like the player and the profile of what he could be but man, it’s a lot for a guy that is constantly hurt and hasn’t showed much.

On the flip side, it could be great value in a few years. It’s truly a 50/50 but the Bulls are a million miles away from winning anything so might as well lock down young talent, they’ll have to reach the cap floor somehow if they manage to get off the Vuc and LaVine deals.

  19. ThatBull_cj

He’s done nothing in the NBA and always hurt but he does have good size and some talent, it’s possible this could be a value contract in a couple years

  20. Phenomenal2313

    DeMar’s most probably gone , that’s about 24-27ppg that’s missing

If Pat can score even 17-18ppg , that’s a huge win for Chicago

  21. He’s gonna be the next Aaron Gordon / PJ Washington esque player to get traded to a contender

  22. GhostOfJiriWelsch

Man if he can get it together this becomes an absolute steal of a contract

Even if he just takes another small leap or two, $18M isn’t even close to what it used to be.

  23. No one really noting that this is also the initial report, most favorable to the player/agent. There’s a chance this is even less money if it includes incentives or trade kickers.

But as a Bulls fan, I love the deal. It’s better than that awful Deandre Hunter contract the Hawks gave out and that was in the old cap environment.

  24. Original_Trick_8552

This is going to be an absolute steal of a contract

  25. airmagswag

So weird seeing somewhat normal numbers. I’m still in the mindset of

    Perennial all star: 28-35m

    Fringe all star: 15-20m

    Promising young player: 10-14m

    Rookie: 6-9m

  26. tugnuggetss

I like this deal and I will continue to root for the Paw

  27. FickleFred

Pat is a long athletic wing that shoots over 40% from 3 and is a versatile defender. Hes shown flashes of a great offensive tools he just had a timid mentality and also has been like 5th fiddle behind Demar, Zach, vuc, and Coby. Hes also only 22. I think this is a great deal and expect to see him take the next step offensively but even if he remains strictly a 3 and d roleplayer wing, this contract will be good value. Hes been a disappointment primarily because he was over drafted and the roster hasn’t been a great fit for him to expand his offensive duties and grow his passive mindset with the vets.

  28. Zorak9379

I like something this front office did.

    Weird.

  29. StefonDiggsHS

18mil isn’t that terrible for him, worst comes to worst he’s easy to move

  30. CarcosaBound

Crazy money in the NBA, but this a solid contract.

$18M per year is about 13% of the soft cap this coming season and will be around 6-7% at the end of the deal. Even if he doesn’t develop much and just ends up being a rotation guy, it’s not gonna fuck our books up. If he makes the leap, the contract is a steal for the front office

Win-win. Rather have young guys with upside getting paid while we tank. If we’re really cleaning house, we’re gonna be taking bad contracts w/picks just to hit the spending floor.

  31. MuletownSoul

I don’t hate this? What an odd feeling.

  32. livelaughloaft

Always kinda forgot how young he still is, 4 seasons in the league turning 23 this summer

  33. dawnofthedunk_

This is a good contract. Fair value. Good work.

  34. This extension is essential for the tank. At least we can pretend we developing players for the time being ✌️
