Barry Jackson: Riley said last month: “I’m not going to bring [ownership] something that’s going to make us a little bit better and cost us a lot more” in terms of assets. Riley said there’s (only) two or three players in the league who would get the Heat to “go for it, shoot the moon.”

“we are not trying to win a championship”

  3. not_so_smoothie

We’re still paying off Dragic & Lowry’s medical bills…. I mean draft picks.

    In the words of AD:

     “Yup”

    “We out”

Generally speaking it’s the right attitude to have. If last summer they instead offered up all their picks and the rookies for Mikal Bridges it would be an immense overpay relative to this team (it makes a little more sense for the Knicks). Last thing you want to do is chain yourself to the treadmill of mediocrity for guys who won’t make you championship favorites.

Which of course just makes the singular trade of a pick for Terry and then doing nothing else and subsequently locking up all but one tradable pick all the more baffling.

Well I guess this season is about seeing young guys develop. (I’m struggling to find positive, silver linings)

And go pray for the best

Im begging for 3 and D players. We have too many 3 or D players

  9. strangerthingskids

I’m really not trying to be that guy but I genuinely we have a really good young core.

I think Jamie and Jovic can be really really good NBA players. Ofc bam is a top 15-20 player imo (not young but still got years). Im not in love with Kalel but I trust the Heat that they made the right pick. And honestly I really like Larssen. Obviously had no idea who the hell he was before draft day but sounds like he’s a great pick up, especially in a Heat developmental program.

I think everyone including myself gets caught up in the shining lights of Free Agency. I do think the FO has done a bad job of managing asset but this is kinda what it looks like when a team has been a playoff team for the last 10 years.

Im kinda cool with what we got right now idk. I mean shit if there’s some how some way we can trade for Donny, push the chips but idk, heat in 5.

Then explain the terry rozier trade lol

  11. surgeyou123

You guys love to eat up all this clown’s ragebait tweets lol

  12. Trendelthegreat

Heat fans: “Omg why won’t Riley trade all of our picks to get a little better????”

Also Heat fans: “omg we don’t have any picks because Riley traded them to get a little better 😡😩😡😩”

  13. twozeromm

I think we all have to accept that we have no pieces to get significantly better, therefore in no rush to make minimal moves for nothing. It’s sort of a youth movement right now.

Im aligned with this thinking. However, I’m not a fan of how a cavalier we are with FRP. That Lowry salary dump is looking pretty bad in hindsight. I pray that now it’s clear what this team’s Jimmy era ceiling is, we stop making side-stepping moves like that.

Spo’s gotta let the young guys play, also. Jimmy can test free agency next year since we’re not making a trade including him to reload.

If “we have enough.” One last time to try and prove it.

Cop out and coach speak for “Run it back”. Ownership is not interested in going for a championship. Front office has terribly mismanaged assets and contracts.

  16. WheeinSpace

So was Terry Rozier one of those guys? This front office is something else, man. We’ll continue to rely heavily on undersized and limited players who have to work their asses off(in-game and practice) then it’s shockedpikachuface when their bodies break down because they refuse to make it easier for them. And Riley had the nerve to call out our team for being injured.

  17. TheRealGlutenbob

I’m all for run it back 3.0 (?). We have enough.

  18. Practical_Use_1654

Low key hope Jimmy leaves, the man deserves a ring.

  19. Logical-Rest-7668

The top two needs are at PG and PF/Center. There really are only a few players that would make this team better if they become available via trade: KD, Lillard, Donovan Mitchell, Trae Young, and Markkanen are a few I can think of. Given Utah’s track record, trading for Markkanen would most likely cost Miami too much. Of that list, I believe Mitchell is the most likely player to get traded to Miami.

Also overbidding on our own guys is killing us too. Not saying this in hindsight but the Herro/Duncan/Lowry contracts were never good. I know with the bigger tv contracts those contracts look like a “steal” but just weren’t good deals to make

  21. Soulsheart

Basically they’re not serious about winning a championship
