also theres a 0% chance that he gets traded during the season. You dont sign someone for leadership role on a 1 year deal just to trade them for close to nothing at All star break. No one would sign a 1 year deal with you again if you did that shit. Plus the Spurs really dont like trading mid season in general, so i dont get these ‘we can flip him’ at the deadline comments.

I love it. One year deal is perfect and without a doubt his leadership and mentorship to the young guys will be big. Lot of late game moments last year in winnable games where their inexperience cost them the game, he can control the tempo and keep that from happening
