will come in there and rebound for you that’s a that’s an important Point size some size rebound so we get all of that I also think it’s important to point out and I’ll come back to you on this Wendy do we get do we use this as an opportunity to talk about the Clippers and lawren Frank and ask the question what the hell were they doing because you have a situ where Paul George ended up in Philly but the Golden State Warriors had received permission weeks ago to talk from the Clippers to talk to Paul George and when you hear what you hear emanating out of golden state is like yo they offered players it could have been a wigin it could have been even a kaminga or CP3 a combination of some sort right or you know depending on what iteration of a trade you’re looking at but the Clippers were insistent from what I’ve been hearing they insistent on picks as well so you let Paul George walk out for nothing you got it Shannon brought this up you traded you traded for Paul George you traded away Shay gilis Alexander my league MVP this past season danelo galinari five first round picks with the ability to swap two additional first round picks and in and and these years later with one Conference Finals appearance and nothing else to show for it in all the years that he’s been in Los Angeles you let this man walk out the door for nothing this is one of those days where we got to ask this question about Lawrence Frank what the hell were you doing yeah Wendy so obviously I would say you can say definitively the Paul George kawh Leonard uh experiment marriage what you want to say was a failure absolute failure and the Clippers will still be paying for it they still owe this the the Thunder like two pieces draft pieces um and by the way you talk about Shay Gillis Alexander their second best player uh arguably Jaylen Williams their wing jayen Williams he was drafted with the Clippers draft so and by the way the W just just reported that the Thunder are signing Isaiah hartenstein away from the New York Knicks three years 87 million dollars the Thunder are making major moves here but let’s focus on the C so this is this gets into the bit of the Weeds on what’s happening in the NBA right now but all you need to know is the new rules that are taking place now were basically written to squeeze the ever living heck out of the Clippers and it’s worked it’s worked they they are they are basically crying uncle on the new rules and saying we can’t keep our team together now you say they let him walk for nothing the Clippers would dispute that statement although it’s a powerful statement and I’m not necessarily agreeing with the Clippers the Clippers would dispute with that statement and say they’re not getting nothing they’re getting the ability to add to their team if they had kept Paul George on their team at a Max salary they would have been in a straight jacket unable to to to to comp compete unable to do anything to make meaningful trades and that is a reasonable thing it may end up blowing up in their face but that is their position as to the Golden State thing I do think that the big giant what if here Stephen A is what if the Clippers and the Warriors had been able to work out a trade for Paul George three days ago when he had his option deadline and he had to decide whether he was going to opt in and get traded or not you are correct from what I understand there was a many many many different proposals given from the from the Warriors to the Clippers they really exhausted the ability to try to get Paul George in Golden State and they couldn’t find a deal and the reason they couldn’t find a deal is because at the end of it the the Clippers didn’t want salary on their books they just have given the White Flag to paying the gigantic salary and they would rather have what Paul George go away and and had their their options to build their team back then they would to have North salary or a young player or a draft pick so it is a complicated situation the Clippers are in a weird spot they believe that over the next year or two that they will emerge from this as a stronger team they may be wrong they may have egg dripping off their face with what their draft picks they still owe the Thunder but it was a complicated transaction and right now you have two veins in the NBA you have I 95 76ers Knicks Celtics total power base and you have I5 out here inali California where the Lakers are struggling to find a way to take advantage of LeBron’s last years the Clippers are in full Retreat and the Warriors have just lost um they had to cut Chris Paul and they’re very likely going to lose Klay Thompson in the very short future here struggling to find a way to improve uh perk before you chime in here uh they probably are going to lose Klay Thompson to the Dallas Mavericks but go ahead guys go ahead perk look since Steve bummer took bought that bought the clippers it’s three things that he’s been paying salary doct bills and construction workers and he’s got nothing in return no type of accomplishments whatsoever what I’m trying to figure out is how long is Lawrence Frank going to be in this seat like the man has hasn’t achieved a damn thing when it comes down to putting a roster together everyone thought it was going to be a great move oh he picked up James Harden they had Russell Westbrook you had kawh ly you have PG what end up happening you get spanked by the Dallas Mavericks and Luca and Kyrie in the first round my thing is when it comes down to Lawrence Frank he continues to hold his seat and nothing is getting done on top of that on top of that you know what was you know what was the breaking point for Paul George yesterday the Clippers know Lawrence Frank know that Paul George had a problem with with the way the Clippers were playing last last year it had nothing to do with taloo now we’ve never heard Paul George complain about the way the Clippers play until who arrive James Harden James Harden so they knew that they had a problem that PG had a problem with the way that James Harden was playing without uh uh the Clippers and Paul George coming to terms what did Lawrence Franken uh uh in the Clippers do with James Harden yesterday sign him to sign him to a two year $70 million deal right right there it was it was almost a slap in the face to PG that’s why that meeting didn’t go well it was more so along the lines yes he wanted the extra year yes he wanted the extra bread we get all that but they also knew behind the scenes what else he wanted an Stephen A Wendy I mean damn how long is Lawrence Frank going to be in this position floor’s yours Shannon guys Stephen A Wendy everybody knows this the reason why they’re in this position is that they wanted kawhai and they didn’t want him to go to the Lakers he held them hostage say if you want me to come you go get Paul George you auction everything off to get Paul George and kawh lner can’t stay healthy he’s your most valuable piece he’s the guy that’s been a Finals MVP he’s the guy that’s been a two-time defensive player of the year and because he can’t stay healthy in the regular season and if he stays healthy in the regular season he can’t complete the off the task in the postseason this is what happened this was a death blow to the clippers because Stephen A they let Paul George walk away for nothing you know else who else this happened to the OKC Thunder you remember when uh Kevin Durant walked out of the door and they got no draft compensation at least LeBron James did a signing trade and Cleveland was able to get Capital when you let one of these big time Superstars when you let them walk and you get nothing for them considering what you gave up even if the compensation wasn’t comparable to what you gave up to get PG you were able to get some draft picks to restock the shelves you got nothing what what what how do they how do if if when if what you’re saying is true how do they acquire players when you got when you got kawhai on that contract and he he plays he plays when he plays he plays but you got no draft Capital to go out and trade for somebody they’re in trouble all this notion oh this is the LA Market they got billboards with Kawai town and look what happened it’s about to be a ghost town in that new 10 billion1 15 billion building that they built in P Vista is about to be a ghost town over there well here’s the here’s the here’s the just criminal element in all of this you know the Lakers are in town they still have a box office attraction in Lebron okay and Anthony Davis and so you know this and you’re the Los Angeles Clippers listen I’m not trying to throw shade on Lawrence Frank or whatever but the truth is the truth and perk just articulated it there we’ve seen an abundance of changes within the Los Angeles Lakers the only change we’ve seen when it comes to Lawrence Frank is elevation from being an assistant coach to somehow being the president of basketball operations basically know and and and and and and what the hell is going on since then they haven’t done anything and so you’re on the phone with the Golden State war is and he’s not just demanding players he’s demanding picks you understand he’s demanding picks on top of the players for a guy in Paul George that we know is a stud and what have you but his age is his age and on top of it all you’re in quite of a pinch and you’re going to put yourself in a position where you end up getting absolutely nothing knowing at the Philadelphia 76 was lurking I mean my God you saw Joel embiid on NBA Countdown with yours truly Bob Meers Mike wilbor and Malika Andrews winking over at Paul George like this is what we want you knew what would you knew what Philly was going to try to do and you knew they had the cap space to do it so the threat of that alone should have been enough Wendy to incentivize you to say nah we we we got to make sure we get something in return for Paul George to lose him for absolutely nothing is an egregious error on the part of Lawrence Frank and if I’m Steve Balmer I’m looking at my organization from top to bottom outside of Coach Lou of course and I’m saying what the hell is going on here I know that it’s I know it’s semantics I know it’s semantics and it’s it’s opaque and it’s difficult to understand this wasn’t just a Lawrence Frank Steve Balmer decision this was about rules that were imposed on the Clippers now these rules were imposed over a year ago and they could have taken some other action and you can say why did they negotiate with with kawhai Leonard and not have Paul George sitting next to him because that started this Rift perk is right I think the Harden trade complicated the fit but they did this deal with Kawhi leoner without having Paul George sitting beside him which is not how they did their last two contracts that’s all fair but the reason the Clippers made this move wasn’t because they’re stupid it wasn’t because they’re they’re not brave it wasn’t because they’re broke it’s because the new rules just squeeze the life out of them and they and they they declared Uncle question some point in time you do get get T some point in time Stephen A you do get tired of getting treated like a second class citizen it seemed like they prioritize everything around kawhai and they know kawhai if he plays 60 games he going to miss all the playoffs and if he starts the playoffs he ain’t going to finish the playoffs so it seems like since kawhai got there Paul George was always an afterthought well hey what do you want oh okay hey hey PG you okay with this and Paul George says no at some point in time I’m a valuable piece you know what y’all don’t think I’m valuable check this out hey phly how valuable you think I am we got 20 we think you worth 212 million in value because at the end of the day what you should have done wheny if wasn’t you and Stephen and saying is about try to trade you about to go in floor closure you don’t want to sell the house just because it’s on principle okay you going to lose the house anyway so you could have traded Paul George got some compensation as opposed you stubborn you say you know what I ain’t going to trade it you lost him for nothing so now you don’t get players back in return and you don’t get draft compensation which you still owe OKC two more pieces to the puzzle that was that that that’s dumb basketball but I believe and I don’t I haven’t talked to Paul George Stephen A but I will say this I believe he got tired of being a second class citizen because it seems to me everything roled around Kawai in Kawai is very rarely seld them there per last my my last word is this in a tough Western Conference when you got Wing players and guards of likes of Luca Kyrie Steph Curry SGA like the list goes on dearon Fox Ant-Man Ant-Man and you let Paul George walk and get back nothing nothing like I get what Wendy saying like Okay last night they went signed uh Derek Jones Jr he’s not Paul George Wendy he’s not Paul George I mean at the end of the day again Lawrence Frank got to look himself in the mirror and say like it’s it’s on me it’s on him and I’m not just trying to blame him all the way but damn it he’s the one that’s sitting in that seat he’s the one that’s sitting in that seat see I mean damn yeah you’re absolutely right by the way Wendy excellent analysis on all three of your parts but you as well of course you big perk great job Shannon uh you interrupted me not
