Is a BIG MOVE coming for Sacramento? 7/1/24 – Stiles and Watkins
oh [Music] o [Music] yeah o [Music] o yeah [Music] o [Music] o [Music] o [Music] Styles at Chris Watkins yes yes yes on a Monday St Watkins sack toown Sports taking up to 2 p.m. free agency frenzy that is what we are in it’s also trade time in the NBA but do the kings know that are the Kings aware that NBA free agency has started we know they know the trades have started we talked about that last week Jaylen McDaniels but it’s time for the Kings to make a move and in what direction will they go there have been Whispers of Brandon Ingram but nothing has come to fruition yet we’ll see what happens Chris Watkins it’s gonna be hot we know Dave is talking about it complaining about it me and Jason Ross on the same page but it’s also gonna be hot in the studio because if the Kings don’t make a move they have a problem they have a problem Chris how you doing good yeah no I mean I I think a move is going to come it’s just going to be a matter of whether or not it’s it’s uh underwhelming or not to the people I mean I I definitely think the kings are fully understanding that a move is going to have to be done for this team to realistically want to reach a different level and you know we saw the Davon Sasha move last week and that clearly is a sign that they are planning to do something and uh you know we’re just kind of waiting to see what exactly that thing is I definitely think a lot of people are freaking out uh which I understand but there’s still a lot of time and a lot of names out there and here are the uh King’s official Pages posting the Sacramento Kings announced multi-year partnership with in shaped Family Fitness and it’s like now is not the time read the com read the comments I’m sure the comments are absolutely obliterating them but literally a minute ago the Kings decide now is the perfect time to announce any sort of Sacramento Kings announced multi-year right don’t do that do not put that as the headline and uh yeah I mean thankfully well I shouldn’t say thankfully but it it is more just people saying make a move make a move this is not the the news I was waiting for not them completely bashing the uh social media they have to know what they’re doing right you know that’s Shout Out In Shape Fitness they just got a really good a lot of eyeballs on on that partnership deal because uh yeah there’s a lot of people who are just anxiously I mean I got my tweet notifications on every time my phone lights up I have to check it because I I it’s like this this this world we live in now where Shams and W have us you know afraid that we miss a minute you don’t check your phone for a minute and then all of a sudden you know your favorite team has lost everything or finally gained everything yeah it’s just a it’s a crazy crazy time we live in and then yeah the Paul George news breaking at 12:30 this morning I was asleep so I I didn’t even see it until I woke up well I also thought that we were past I mean normally that stuff doesn’t break after I don’t know 10 p.m. s involved they’re just they’re just in the throws of it if you were to rank if you were to rank okay let’s say there were three parts of the NBA season you have NBA off season NBA regular season and the playoffs you’d probably put NBA off season two ahead of the regular season wouldn’t you I would put it number one the offseason’s the best part of the B I mean that the offseason drives the entire season the postseason is fun it’s own it’s its own little entity but like the offseason we love we do everybody loves talking trades loves talking Acquisitions loves talking shifting things up blowing things up what would happen if this and that’s what the offseason is all about it’s time for your your imagination to wander every and anything is possible the draft is part of it that’s full of Promise all of a sudden you go from you know your team wins whatever 14 games this year to oh my gosh we might win 30 and then you know you just get hope for everything the offseason in the NBA drives the entire season and that’s what makes the NBA so great I mean it’s why it’s made such a big Headway in the American Sports you know complex of everything it’s because we love drama and the NBA provides more drama than any League out there and you know you can see the Klay Thompson stuff you can see the Paul George stuff it it’s all just reality TV playing out on on Twitter and it’s uh it’s awesome but it’s also incredibly stressful and it leads to people losing their minds and I think uh I think we’re seeing a lot of that uh over the weekend well the biggest move this was from W as Chris alluded to free agent Paul George has agreed on a fouryear $212 million Max contract with the 76ers sources tell ESPN George committed in a meeting with Sixers officials and returns East to join Joel embiid and Tyrese Maxi in pursuit of an NBA title so here we go and you know with the Boston Celtics being the reigning champion and the we forget the but the they were supposed to be the the team on the that everybody is chasing behind 76ers you slotting them in maybe not in Sharpie but you slotting them in the NBA finals in in pencil pen or Sharpie or anything not in the finals no I mean that’s way too early I mean we we still need to see Joel embiid play like 60 games first and then you know through that playoffs and Paul George himself has not been somebody who’s LED any of his teams to any sort of deep playoff run or anything like that I think he has a a Western Conference Finals appearance with the Clippers and then I think he him and the Pacers made it one time in the East um but I mean that was a long long time ago I mean the the bubble was probably his you know his pandemic P was was definitely uh you know some of his best basketball he’s played in the postseason and I I just think it’s it’s been a weird couple years for or however long this this Clipper run has been for for Paul George I think they’re they’re definitely going to be in contention I mean I would put them pretty well at the number two spot I think they I saw somebody say this morning they have the best big three in the league I think that’s true but at the same time I mean we’ve just seen that Philly situation flame out so many different times for so many different reasons and also for one main reason because yeah Joelle had really struggled to pass out of double teams and struggle to stay healthy so you know they’re they’re definitely better than they were last season but I I still think all of the same or a lot of the same questions still stick around because Paul George is also injury-prone himself yeah I’m just not really sure what the Sixers are going to do simply because of the injury history and it is interesting to me and I don’t know what their relationship is you find out all of a sudden these guys have been best friends and I don’t necessarily think that’s the case with the six with Joel embiid and Paul George but to go from playing with kawh Leonard yeah who kind of left the out hang in the dry and then go play with Joel embiid and you know his history it’s a really and you’re 34 years old you’ll be 30 because he just turned 34 yeah so he’ll be 38 when when this is all said and done that’s four years now as you’re gonna be old to yourself and Paul George has missed some time I guess it’s a I honestly Chris you know what I think this is I think this is one of those situations where you’re similar to you feel like you’re similar to the Kevin Durant Warriors obviously you’re not going to be that but okay let’s just be healthy enough to get a top four seed make sure Joel embiid is healthy going into the playoffs I think Joel Em’s already got his MVP I think he’ll take whatever F he doesn’t care right I think they’re just gonna say top four seed okay let’s get into the dance healthy and we’re probably gonna have enough Firepower to get it done because there’s no way last year no but there’s no way that Paul George can see what just happened to Joel embiid and said oh I expect him to play 75 games I expect him to play 70 there’s no way yeah I mean I I really don’t know what what his thought process is he clearly didn’t listen to his boy James Harden because James has been telling people yeah not to go to that situation for for some time and uh yeah definitely an interesting decision I mean I guess that’s the the best that Philly can hope is that you know like you said they’re in a position where they can they can feel good about their standing and feel good about their health going into the postseason but I still think there’s a lot of questions about that situation and you know to me it it reeks of of not desperation but this is this is to me like the last flyer for Joel embiid like like you said I mean Paul George is now signed to 38 that’s crazy uh that that tells me that you know I don’t know how much longer they think Joel embiid can realistically give this thing a go he’s I think yeah Joel just hit 30 so that’s telling me that they’re probably thinking we have at Max a four-year window here where we think this can all work out because they’re paying three of their guys T Tyrese Maxi just got an extension Joel embiid’s already getting paid 50 plus mil and now with Paul George’s contract they’re paying those three guys over $600 million just for those three guys that’s going all in I respect it it’s what I think the Warriors should have done with Steph in in a in a different way is is just kind of hey man this is your last run we’re g to give you the best chance we possibly think and we’re going to go for broke and I kind of feel like that’s what Philly’s doing is they’re they’ve looked at Joel embiid’s injury history and said we we just need to get one of these years to work out and after this I just don’t know if they’re going to if if embiid’s body’s gonna hold up I I think it’s a good shout I mean it’s probably the best that they could have done with this off season um I’m just not sure if it’s it’s good enough I like all the other pieces they retained UB I know they still have Paul Reed signed to their their team as well um and I think they got somebody else in in free agency there were so many uh moves that kind of flew under the radar yesterday but I I think they’re a much better team they present an interesting problem for Boston with with uh embiid size but I don’t know if I could say that they are right now my favorite in the east no they they have the ability to challenge Boston but again I’m not sleeping on the Bucks I mean the Bucks are gonna have to do something about the too yeah and and the Knicks of course you know they definitely made Rush that begs the question okay is the is the East starting to challenge the West as far as which is the the better conference the Sixers Chris they signed Andre drumond to a twoe deal Paul George of course Eric Gordon I was that’s under radar for sure two-year deal that was a bit surprising then obviously like you mentioned Tyrese Maxi extension and Kelly UB Returns on a two-year deal tsunami and and now Kelly U maybe will get used correctly and he won’t have that usage rate and be blowing kisses to everybody so yeah 76ers they’re gonna they’re going to be a problem as long as they’re healthy but the last part of that sentence is the most important part of of the whole operation all right plenty of Kings to get into as we break down what the Kings have done so far or have not done so far we also get into the Warriors and how they are starting to crumble and Klay Thompson is looking to stay in the west and get a little bit of payback whether you feel like he’s been wronged or not he does and of course Nate reminded me of that because Nate was correct kind and Chris and I were not I mean Alex Len yeah so I mean if you guys want a technicality win right I’ll give it to you that’s right I doubt the king sign a bigger person than Alex Lynn quite literally yes larger well that’s that that’s also true but I still think I’m in Carolina Reaper territory if the Kings don’t do anything else but yes Nate was correct and if you aren’t familiar with the Carolina Reaper line I had a conversation with Chris you’re on these Airwaves I said if the kings run it back and don’t make a big move I will eat a Carolina Reaper or I’ll take a bite of a Carolina Reaper on air already the goal post and I I never said I eat the whole thing and I’m also starting to I’m starting to get worried now guys that’s Twitter because you should and uh if you go on Twitter you will believe that the Kings should disband as a franchise and that they’re complete imbeciles and they have no idea what they’re doing but it’s been one day and uh you know we have reports from Sean Cunningham saying that the kings are in conversations to get Brandon Ingram and if they don’t get Brandon Ingram then we move on to the next one we’ve had plenty of conver how many conversations have we had about the different options Brandon Ingram wasn’t even you know what this is you and the other Twitter people are doing the DG connect thing you’re doing the this guy wasn’t even on my radar and now that I think there’s a possibility of him being here this is the only thing I’ve ever wanted in my life and everything if it’s not this then it’s terrible and it’s all washed and it’s all cooked and it’s like well how about the entire other plan we had leading into this before we even knew this was an option no I no I hear you on that but I have no Chris I have no clue what the Wizards are doing no clue what the Wizards are doing that’s they might hold on to kozma might I have no clue so now you have now we have kma off the so that’s kozma so now you’re left with Jeremy Grant and Zack LaVine how about Dorian finy Smith and cam Johnson am I eating a Carolina Reaper if it’s just doryan Andy Smith and cam Johnson I would say sand field I I wanted to get into this too guys and get your thoughts on it there’s basically conversations going on around the league based on the Warriors and what they offered to the Clippers I believe it was Andrew Wiggins Jonathan kaminga and I think it was a first round pick as well and the Clippers said no and let Paul George walk and now he is I think Chris Paul might have been involved for money purposes too Chris Paul going to the Spurs by the way and now Paul George obviously going to the 76ers and guys there’s now talk going around the league that there might be some collusion love it happening as far as the Warriors and the Warriors I don’t think they wronged anyone but maybe they they rubbed some people the wrong way during their during their Championship runs and you had the light years conversation you know with with Joe lob we’re light years ahead of all these other teams and now some teams are getting their get back and we knew I mean and I don’t even know if it’s necessarily collusion why if you’re the Clippers it just would have been so tough to your fan base to see Paul George go to the Warriors even though it was a pretty good package Fair foul if there is some version of collusion happening against the Warriors between who though like like everyone’s conspiring against the Warriors so like essentially what you’re saying is the Clippers uh didn’t do that deal to just hurt the Warriors any way they can right yeah it doesn’t matter if it was a good deal or not I just would rather him not go to the Warriors and since Nate took a Victory lap earlier I’m gonna take a Victory lap now because I talked about this on Friday I said that this is there’s no way that the Clippers should just voluntarily help the Warriors and say hey yeah I know this situation didn’t work out with us but I hope he works out with you and that’d be great and yeah sure we can do a reasonable package at the very least it was going to take a Nicks kind of deal right where it was no no no there’s going to be uh we like to use the term tax on this show there’s going to be a tax that you have to pay if you really want to make that work and I think the Warriors have made it very clear for whatever reason that they’re very hard lined on no no no we don’t want to ship off uh though it depends on what rumors you look at what reports they don’t want to move on from all of their young players they don’t want to ship off kaminga and psky in the same deal they want to keep one of them I’m sure the Clippers told them well that’s fine and dandy but we want to keep Paul George so we’re not getting what we want so you’re not going to be able to get what you want if want Paul George you’re GNA have to pay for him and uh yeah I think the Warriors I would say wrongfully so I don’t know what direction the Warriors are going if they’re not going star hunting at this point I you know they just weren’t willing to pay I I think uh I think it’s fair for the Clippers and every other team to hold their their their vendettas against the Warriors The Warriors ran through everybody they were not apologetic as they shouldn’t be but they definitely rubbed it in everyone’s faces as they were on their Glory tour and that’s fine you know To the victor goes the spoils 100% but people are going to remember and they’re going to call for your head and want to put it on a stake when you’re done so that’s what’s happening right now is no one’s going to feel bad for the Warriors and the Warriors aren’t going to get any benefit of the doubt from anybody yeah and they they also aren’t helping themselves if if if you have a sense that that is happening then you have to pay clay yeah you know what I mean or or or you have to figure out something you have to do something so this was this was the the package that was reported Golden State trade packages to the Clippers included CP3 Andrew Wiggins kaminga Moody and a first round pick yeah that’s kind of crazy how else are they gonna get Paul George yeah no I’m saying it’s crazy for the Clippers to turn that down I don’t think so for nothing but to help out the Warriors these teams were essentially Rivals they still kind of are both we’re just going to lose together then yeah it’s better than than actively helping you win yes I think that package actively helped the Celtics all everyone the Clippers maybe but how does that help them this year how does how does that help James Harden and and kawh Leonard win a championship this year they just got the new into it don’t like it helps for their future sure maybe like it’s as good of a hall as you’re going to get to your point for somebody walking out the door but at the same time I mean yeah you have to you you’ve got to it’s a it’s a it’s a weight system where you got to try and figure out okay does this helps us but it also really helps them and does it help them more than it helps us and what if this doesn’t help us at all I I I think I I mean I’m also part of the the spiteful the vengeful towards the Warriors so I’m gonna say I agree with the clippers but I mean yeah maybe from a straight business perspective you’re definitely more right where this is this is the better alternative than this but we also saw the Warriors do the same thing right we saw reports that the Warriors turned down uh Chris Paul Paul and Andrew Wiggins for Zack LaVine why’ they do that that would have made them better they ultimately decided that at least on the floor I think they ultimately decided hey Zack lavine’s contract isn’t actually going to help us so it’s just all the weight system yes things might look good on paper to help but you’re always gonna have some sort of decision-making process to figure out in the long run does it help you yeah I would say I’m not buying collusion until it’s later in free agency or or the trade you know the the trade season and the Warriors have nothing then I’m not buying have a fat smile I’m not buying it yet because there is the whole situation with the Clippers and Warriors I mean you’re literally helping your rival but if you have other teams that won’t do anything with the Warriors then I’ll start having the collusion conversation please please collude I have no problem with collusion against the Warriors collude all you want people please coming up next we talk about who Nate confused Chris not specifically with you but when we have this conversation about we were joke not joking but I had brought up vich right and when you bring up valent chunis who is now a Washington Wizard for some odd reason money what exactly is it do you think the Kings need because there’s C there’s a certain level Andre Drummond has now gone on to the Sixers there’s a certain level of okay well we need a backup center that is good enough to back up sabonis and not a drop off but it can’t be a guy that plays too much because sabonis doesn’t really miss time and he’s so unique so I but then we also have another Center do you think this team needs three centers and do you think Alex Len is GNA get more time this coming season yeah I’m a little fearful for Alex that he’s just keeps signing up for the same situation that’s going to be like the the break in case of emergency center uh I kind of feel like they’re going to bring in a third guy we’ve seen them I mean last off season you think you know three was bad they had scal abier they had Nerin Noel uh they had Alex Len they had uh nus kada was on the roster at the time they had like five centers that they were going to try and all try out and then see who who won out the competition Jil becomes available they cut them all and then just sign javil so I would think that their plan is to kind of do something similar and try and identify somebody that they think can be the backup center and then they know Al who Alex is what Alex is and they know he’ll be there if they need him I am partial like I I really thought they should have tried to go after a guy like Mason plumbley I think he’s like the perfect kind of backup center that fits everything you just kind of went through to me they need a backup center yes but it’s got to be somebody who still does essentially play versions of of course they can’t be deonis sabonis but can you still set hard screens because I do think that’s one of the things that sabonis does better than anybody in the league and if you can get a backup who brings that as well you can probably still run similar things of course if they’re a playmaker that makes it a little bit easier to run similar things so it’s more just hey he’s replacing the sabonis spot and not hey sabonis is out the game we now have to play a completely different style a little bit more of a pick and roll versus the dho game um I I think they’re going to bring someone in I haven’t looked at the the remaining free agent centers yet to see who fits that but I’m I’m pretty sure there’s still a couple names out there of some midlevel guys and when I say mid-level I don’t mean mid-level exception I just kind of mean middle class guys that I think can still fit here um but the the pickings are a little slim they they and they only get thinner uh as as the deeper and deeper you go into free agency so um you know there’s there’s only a couple names that probably really make sense for Sacramento but I also think that they are okay if at the end of the day Alex Len is their backup center yeah and I’m looking here Brendan Nunes sack toown Sports Kings Insider he posted just some notable free agents and of off that list that that he posted I don’t even see any big men I don’t even see any big men so I don’t think I think to that point and I saw plumbley already signed somewhere so you have precious auua um I’m not gonna throw James wisman in there uh you have zavier Xavier Tilman who I think did resign with the Celtics Daniel who I believe uh is considering going overseas you know they’re they’re not exciting names and I don’t know if they’re even better than Alex Lenn right and and maybe this is an opportunity for Alex Len you know to to get a little bit more time we know he obviously knows the system yeah and and things like that so maybe yeah he did he did and you know they essentially tried to give the spot to to javil McGee and it and it didn’t work out I did have a name here Chris Isaiah hartenstein who you know I I don’t really blame people for want for coming in with these names because we never know what these guys are going to get paid but once we saw that there was Whispers of 100 Mil right and things like that whenever somebody was on the text line or called in and brought up his name it’s over right so he ends up signing for am measly 87 million three years so he’s making 29 million dollars a year broke yeah yeah and that just that wasn’t going to work in Sacramento and again he falls in that category of how much would we even utilize him enough right to even if you could pay him to pay him that money because of sabonis so it does make these things you know a little a little bit tough to to figure out but he’s off the board as well I think precious auua is a is a good call and you know we’ll see what happens because you do need some type of backup do do you think do you think the Kings would be in a good position if Alex Len did move up and then they got not I don’t want to say James wisman but somebody cheaper than Alex Len as number three or do you think Alex Len needs to be number three I think in an Ideal World Alex Len is three but you know I wouldn’t be oo the Kings really I mean I was going to say they don’t really have any developmental of course like Keon and Kobe and and Devin Carter are developmental players but it feels like they don’t really have that and maybe they just you know as they Sam amck was kind of alluding to during the draft maybe they just don’t really have an appetite for that kind of thing for for you know real I don’t want like deep Player Development in terms of like man this dude is like a piece of clay like a James wisman we want to see if we can mold him I don’t know if they really want to dedicate the resources to making something like that happen but um I I do kind of think that that is something that every team needs I I feel like the Kings have a good bit of it but last year I do kind of remember thinking with without them having a rookie out there and I guess you could say Keon kind of was a rookie but they just didn’t have that youthful energy that you know and I guess you’re probably not going to find that in free agency because all of these guys have played through a contract but feels like they could use a little influx of Youth a little influx of athleticism I think a lot of people have talked about them needing a rim runner at this point and I think a caller called on Friday right and said Mo bambba yeah maybe maybe something like that I don’t think that’s the direction I would go it’s not the direction I would think they would go but if they do decide to go that direction I could definitely talk myself into getting excited about you know I don’t think I would ever say hey this guy can maybe be the answer at backup center full-time but I I think there would be something fun of seeing something new and maybe finding if we can play somebody to play next to sabonis because there are a lot of people out there who think sabonis can play the four in some lineups also say goodbye to Kessler Edwards Jaylen Solon and kind of say goodbye to Jordan Ford any surprises there Chris as they have been let go to go into unrestricted free agency but Jordan Ford will remain on the Sacramento summer league and he can get resigned by Sacramento or another team can can sign him from that yeah to be honest uh Kesler Edwards isn’t much of a surprise they I think you know that was a complete flyer they didn’t trade anything for him I think it was just cash considerations and uh you know they played Kessler a decent bit for for his two years definitely not a huge run but I think enough to where we know what Kesler brings you know and and it’s very no disrespect to that man but it’s very replaceable it’s it’s not something that you would necessarily say oh let me see if there’s more to this if there’s a real player in here I think he’s a perfectly fine energy guy right now but he has a lot of things he kind of needs to round out about his game Slawson I can’t lie I’m a bit surprised by I mean I know um you know he was a late second round pick last year he played well in the in the G League he played well he played well I definitely you know going down to to Stockton I definitely saw some things that were a bit concerning and I wonder if that’s kind of what ended up happening with him um you know he was a bit fiery is is is I’m gonna try and do some more leg work on trying to see if that’s actually led to the decision or if it was just a hey we kind of like some other guys but um yeah it kind of felt like Slawson had a had a bit of an edge to that I’m not sure always channeled itself in the right way and then Jordan Ford you know he’s an older guy I think he’s 26 25 or 26 so he’s a little bit further in his career with the Kings he got the year in Sacramento I think that’s an awesome opportunity for him being from Sacramento but um you know I don’t think they really saw anything that said that there was again more to it than what they had already seen and you know as great of a story as it is we are in trying to get this team to a championship level and you know you might have to cut some of the the nicer stories in order to you know give somebody a chance and and really see if if uh if you guys can find a diamond in the rough with that spot you know i’ love Jordan Ford I love his story obviously he’s he’s a great represent uh representation of of Sacramento but um yeah I kind of think it was just it was uh it was just time to move on for that 11 o’clock is a big move coming for Sacramento Chris and I dive into what we’ve been hearing our phones have been blowing up we get but just in general across the NBA everybody says just just Lori marinin just ship off all your picks and just go get him Monty McNair go make the deal done you you you Cowardly Cowardly GM like just ship off the picks well this is what could happen is that you you trade for I mean we’ll just make this reel you trade for Brandon Ingram or you trade for uh Kyle kosma Jeremy Grant and you ship off two or three second first round picks unprotected and they become real players and then this player that you trade for leaves after a couple years this is why it’s tough for teams like Sacramento to do this because this is La Paul George is from LA and he’s leaving that situation to go find greener pastures you know it’s not crazy to think if the kings were to do that and you know Brandon Ingram is is actually the perfect example because his contract’s up after this season the Kings can now the the hope is they trade for him they immediately sign him to a new extension and maybe that’s the hold up in what’s going on right now but what if Brandon Ingram says much like OG and an newbie ah you know I’m gonna test free agency no matter what I’m not saying I don’t want to stay in Sacramento but I’m G kick the tires on it you run the risk of trading off all of your best assets and yeah you might get a couple good years but even that I don’t know if people are saying that the Clippers run was successful they had a lot of good years never got past the second round and so that’s kind of the risk you run and that’s got to be the uh the the alternate universe that you have to be willing to live with it’s not just going to be all sunshines and rainbows and lollipops if you trade for a star player sometimes you trade for the star player and crazy things happen in in the era that that he’s in and uh yeah I think it’s just a cautionary tale it’s definitely not saying don’t do it because at the same time on the same token you’ve gotta you’ve got to pay to play so you’ve got to be willing to to do these kind of things and take that kind of risk but I think this is also why Monty has been so calculated and who specific he wants to go for because he understands we really only have one shot at this and if we mess it up you could end up like the like the Clippers did and you know if if the beste scenario is maybe you do something that hasn’t been done here in its entire history yeah and to that point and we know this firsthand these bigger markets and obviously the Clippers aren’t the Lakers but they’re still in LA right they still have the possibilities of the big name free agents you give up your picks if you are a smaller Market team or a team that is just not on the same level as the the Celtics of the world and the Lakers of the world and teams like that that’s all you got so if you gave up all those picks because Danny a ain’t gonna lose a trade yeah and then marketing does walk or you just don’t have the success that you think you’d want you’re stuck yeah because those those picks that’s how you get better it is very important to hit on picks when you are uh the level of a a Sacramento Kings or a Portland Trailblazer something like that and now you don’t have them so you have to be even more cautious than say some of these other teams like the Miami Heat and teams like that where they are Des more desirable places to go and you know you can still okay the Knicks right we can we can swing and Miss as much as we want because we’re always gonna have the possibility of getting a free agent so our picks are whatever maybe that’s why the Knicks felt more comfortable doing that Macau Bridges deal and and other teams wouldn’t feel comfortable to do something like that yeah no absolutely and to that point too when good teams are good they they they definitely attract the free agents look at the Lakers like Lakers aren’t even really that good and there’s Klay Thompson still talking about yeah I would be willing to take a minimum in order or a vet Min a mid-level exception in order to go there just because yeah it’s La I have good feelings about the Lakers because my dad played there and won a championship there he’s a broadcaster there uh and I would use the magic as a cautionary tale of exactly what you’re saying like Orlando they’ve drafted fantastic and they were uh I wouldn’t say they were skittish but they decided not to make trades to improve their team they said you know what you have a lot of money in free agency coming up we just had a really good season that we think people paid attention to we actually think we’re going to kill it in free agency this year there’s not a lot of good situations out there we have Paul George potentially coming to Orlando we have Klay Thompson potentially coming to Orlando we’re g to maybe try get Malik monk to sign with the Orlando Magic maybe we’ll get some combination of it all Tobias Harris too and where are they sitting right now they’ve signed kcp and that’s it Paul George is going to Philly Clay’s going to either Dallas or the Lakers Malik stayed here Tobias Harris went to Detroit for 26 mil a year that’s the risk you run if you’re going to try and build this thing out in free agency and you know yeah it’s it’s really tough if you’re a small Market to build these things out man it it’s just you know you never know what these specific star players are going to want what they’re going to want to value and uh yeah it’s it’s why teams like Sacramento your best two Avenues of bringing people in are by taking the choice of the players out of their hands you draft them or you trade for them and you tell them you’re going to be in this situation and you’re going to grow to love it and and I think that’s usually what happens but it’s just mean I feel like we’re all forgetting that you know I feel like the roles are reversed I was the one freaking out after that Davon Sasha trade trying to figure out what’s going on what’s going on and everyone you know was like oh this is clearly a sign that something’s coming and now everything is reversed I’m the one saying clearly something is coming and everybody’s saying what is wrong what is wrong what is wrong there’s they are planning they are positioning themselves to make a move it’s just people have lost their mind seeing everybody else move in the Kings being not being PA I think that it’s just the process playing out you know TC said you know there are reports that the king that the uh that the Pelicans are looking for a third team because they want a backup center in an Ingram deal Kings don’t have a backup center to offer them and so they have to try and find a market and find a player that they like and then find how the team can fit that player into the trade and make everything work do they want Kevin herder do the Pelicans want Kevin hurder it’s a process it takes time and we’re only a day into free agency it is June 1 and or July 1st and free agency started July 30th so you know if maybe by the end of this week nothing’s been done we can definitely all freak out but I just think it’s a little bit of impatience right now from Kings fans which I totally understand but I just think that there’s a little bit too many people I was hoping especially you know we were so measured after the Devin Carter selection thought everybody did a great job of that’s where we are you you stay in the middle or you stay out of the out of the uh playoffs and stuff and that’s what we’ve done and we don’t have the asset if somebody says I want that guy and they’ll do just about anything we’re not there if you look at Houston what they do they took everyy they had they got great picks and they kept flipping guys and flipping guys and now they’re right where they’re supposed to be OKC same thing Orlando kind of had a little run there for a little bit but then that’s where we are someone’s all all the GMS out there going what does Sacramento have so that’s why you get to the three team uh trades and that kind of thing so my pick was uh Dereck Jones uh Jr and I called last week and and mine mine was four years for 40 what you get three for 30 it’s the same damn but we didn’t get him so I thought that would have been a a great uh fit for us because he’s younger at that 22 I think he’s 22 Yeah and um you’re trying to you got the fiveyear window with Fox and sabonis and you’re trying to ladder by building guys under them that are can continue to to get this going so it’s it’s a like you guys say it’s a process that’s going to take a while and then somebody’s going to stub their toe and they’re going to go yeah we’re going to do that and we end up being on the right right side of the of a deal so you guys have a great show appreciate it that new situation because I do think Derrick Jones is he he can be useful he’s a really I mean he’s an incredible athlete but I just don’t know how much uh I no disrespect again but how much skill is there and how much uh he’s just kind of relying off of his raw athleticism and how long that can really carry him yeah and again you are the Clippers you said no to that deal from the Warriors and now you have drik Jones who will probably have to start I mean I don’t think so yeah I don’t I don’t know if he’s a Paul George or he’s not Paul George positionally not have a choice I mean I guess Norman pal somebody like that they have a b that’s another team very simil of the Pelicans just all the wings all the wings Flats drumsticks just all the wings for the Clippers and and we’ll see what they do okay so continuing with this report that came out as far as Brandon Ingram and the kings are concerned so Sean Cunningham dropped that okay then scoot B Robinson reported the kings are the Front Runners and that always just scares me Chris I I don’t know why but the kings are the Front Runners but the for Brandon Ingram but the Pelicans want to get a third team involved to get other Assets in a deal AK a Toyota Corolla deal is not enough with Kevin herder and Harrison Barnes Pelicans like Harrison Barnes surprise surprise that was messed up and draft Capital but also want a center coming back in a deal I’ve been told this is from Scooby Robinson additionally Pelicans are okay with bringing back Ingram on a less than max deal if a trade can’t be facilitated yeah that is is uh that that’s kind of a mess I mean I I you know I will say scoop I I don’t I haven’t heard anything from scoop B Robinson before so I don’t know a bit random yeah take maybe take that with a grain of salt I’m not saying he’s wrong or that it’s incorrect it’s just I’ve never seen any other reports from him he does seem to kind of be uh somebody who’s in this I’ve spoken to him before yes yes back in back in my other days but yeah as far as that’s concerned it doesn’t feel like it’s coming from SA meno it might be coming from a source that he has or something like that absolutely um so yeah I mean again not saying he’s wrong or the report is false just maybe take it with a grain of salt but I also it makes a lot of sense which is where I think um he he has to be pretty convinced that it’s at least somewhat true because uh you know like like uh like we we were just talking about the Kings kind of we we all know what the king’s package is and you know if that I could we think we all could imagine why that wouldn’t get teams super excited especially when you’re trading for a player the caliber of Brandon Ingram kind of feels like the the Pelicans might feel like that’s that’s not enough and so I think the third team makes a lot of sense but I think that just adds a whole another layer it’s tough enough to get two teams to agree to a trade to get a third team that that accepts it as well and is fine with what they’re getting in return if they’re not getting the star player in return they might feel a little slighted so it’s kind of complicating the situation but I I do think that there’s some validity to it because it does make a lot of sense like like you said the Pelicans have have enough wings I don’t necessarily think they need to onload HB and Kevin herder they should probably pick one and with them taking Jordan Hawkins in the first round last year I would imagine that’s what they would want Kevin herder to do so it makes every everything about the reporting makes sense and I think Kevin herder has value somewhere else and could probably be a fine addition to some other third team uh so I I feel like with this reporting with Shawn talking about it yesterday and Sean’s not just going to come out there and say that I definitely think that there’s um some real stuff going on there as Sean’s uh reporting that I think a Deal’s happening pretty soon I and now it might not be by the end of today I think it might be but um it it just makes me feel like there’s enough smoke to this fire that they’re going to try and get this thing done and this might actually be Robert Williams as well to interest to the Kings he’s in Portland yeah he’s in Portland as well another name that was brought to my attention was Mitchell Robinson on the Knicks and now with hartenstein gone right does that change Mitchell Robinson and how the Knicks feel about Mitchell Robinson but that is that is a conversation to be had and ultimately with a lot of these guys and a lot of these trades I mean the names that we’ve brought up you’re all going to be in situations you have ly marketing on an expiring deal you have Brandon Ingram on an expiring deal and the question is what are you willing to give up knowing that you might not retain them you know you’re going to have to bag them out you know what I mean but if you’re Danny a and I think that’s the one thing because you are Utah and you’re not Miami and you’re not one of these places you’re I would say Utah is closer to a smaller Market team than a big Market team so if you’re Danny a you don’t want to lose but brother I’m not giving you four first rounders for Lor marinin who could opt out at the end of the year I’m just not doing it no absolutely and I think that’s kind of the stand still that they’re going to continue to run into I think Danny’s going to stay uh very firm in saying that he wants all those picks and I think everyone’s going to say that’s just too much like we all like Lori Markin him but you know I I think it’s uh it’s it’s a bit of a risk and um you know I I definitely see a lot of people in Sacramento wanting Lori to come over I think he’d be a fantastic fit but I don’t know I really don’t Utah might be the only situation where I could see them fully saying we’re not making this deal without Keegan Murray involved that just feels like Danny a and it feels like the direction that Utah would prefer to go you know they have enough draft picks from Trading off goar from Trading off Donovan Mitchell they’re probably thinking we would much rather have the actual Bonafide player than just continue to add on to our draft stock and if you’re the Kings I’m I know we had the conversation last week about you know does Malik stay longterm make Keegan more um or less Untouchable I feel like that would still be the line for me I think Lor’s probably a better player than Keegan will ever be but I I just think that the fit with Keegan and and you can groom him into whatever you want him to be to me makes more sense than taking that jump and taking that risk and potentially having another Tyrese halber out there in Keegan Murray yeah I would be more comfortable I’m not I’m not sending Keegan to Portland even though his brother is there that that for Jeremy Grant I can’t do that I didn’t even think about that yeah I can’t I don’t think I can do that out of the three now and I guess we could have the kozma conversation I don’t think I’m giving up Keegan Murray for kozma I I don’t think no no no I don’t think even though kozma is the one with more time on possibly go out and get but I still think you know Zack LaVine even I don’t think his contract but I think as a player Zack LaVine makes a big impact I think Kyle kosman makes a big impact I think Jeremy Grant makes a big impact it’s just Brandon Ingram has the most star potential he has the most uh hey this guy could potentially be the second or sudo first option for your team I don’t think those other guys necessarily have that and Ingram again is just from a talent perspective the kind of guy that the Kings would never be able to get otherwise here’s what I’m worried about we’re about to play this sound from Carmichael daav as they compare Brandon Ingram and K kusma what I’m worried about is we know what it is right we know what the situation is so if I’m the Blazers and Brandon Ingram drops today yeah those price tags are G to keep going up so if I’m the Blazers or I’m the Wizards and the Kings miss out on Brandon Ingram and they say okay now it’s time to call the Blazers the Blazers say okay well the price is not what it used to be because we know that you want to make team better in a big way and we know that you miss out on Ingram and we know that you miss out on kozma but couldn’t the Kings go back and say well there’s other options fine go ahead and play hard ball you’re not ever GNA move off of Jeremy Grant then we’re gonna go call Washington about K you’re point here team versus individuals has to matter too like I think cam Johnson is a great fit he’s a guy who makes a ton of sense at the spot that the king need he’s a big body like even though he might not be talent-wise nearly as good as Brandon Ingram you can maybe argue the fit is better he understands his role better he’d be more willing to do some of the hustle stuff that the Kings need more than just Brandon Ingram singularly being a great isolation scorer and a long uh possible Defender at a decent level I I think that there’s a possibility that yeah even though they’re not as talented it can make the overall team better and you can just think of the Boston cels in that nature not saying the Kings become the Celtics but I I could definitely think that a a cam Johnson or Dory and Finny Smith could go close to as far as as Brandon Ingram could take you yeah and you know this is this always just makes me laugh so shout out to the sack chat sack chat has been outstanding hearts for a very very long time and you know it was absolutely an amazing run don’t want to be all disrespectful like you know they definitely did their three championships and or I’m sorry four championships uh is is an an accomplishment that not many uh people in this era have been able to to say forget this era in the history of basketball they did their thing for sure but um you know it’s just it’s it’s it’s kind of disappointing and I talked about it a couple weeks ago but this is the greatest Dynasty that we have post Spurs and you know to see it end in this fashion is pretty disappointing I know Tony Parker eventually played that one season with the Hornets that every everybody forgets about but it felt like the Warriors more than any other team uh or Dynasty even specifically of this era was so keen on keeping these guys around and doing whatever it took to just make sure Steph clay and Dre were going to retire Warriors and you know even from Andrea Gala having that brief stint in in Memphis and and in uh Miami it just feels like this isn’t how the Warriors envisioned this thing ending all those years ago and it felt to me like and you could argue it’s been the downfall of their entire run here they tried to get too cute and I think uh I think instead of just kind of leaning into uh you know riding off into the sunset these guys tried to continue to be light years ahead and I think we’re seeing now that this is what happens when you aren’t light years ahead or you think you are and you’re actually just operating like everybody else yeah and and that is why I mean it’s almost as if they have to say kaminga is Untouchable because I don’t know Bob Myers is gone now but they had something right they had the craziest opportunity and and W just got quiet um W has not put yeah W moves straight on to Nick Batum he said W said here’s the deal getting Josh Green to Charlotte he wants a fifth Championship he was talking with the Lakers and Mavs Nick matum signs with the Clippers that that’s how W’s feed has uh G so far yeah he’s like I’ll leave the cleaning up for the for the other ones wow but yeah so not necessarily I guess uh I guess not officially done yet according to Chris Haynes W has not yet backtracked but I will believe Chris Haynes who has a lot of sources in this area and uh definitely specifically in the Bay area Thompson it was about Nick Batum who was now headed to the Clippers so again they’re just getting guys that hopefully can combine for for Paul George’s impact pretty much Derek Jones Jr Nick Batum don’t want to say it’s the Boston Celtics model but I definitely think the Clippers who tried to do the two forwards thing I think a lot of people are starting to understand like having a lot of forwards and being a team like the Pelicans it just creates a lot of mismatch opportunities for your team and if you can get a point guard who can set them all up I mean that’s that’s really all you need is a point guard a team full of wings and then a versatile enough big man to uh to to kind of fill in all the rest that seems to be the direction the Clippers are going uh but they have to do something as we know in domes opening up here pretty soon they’ve got to get some uh they’ve got to get some excitement back after losing Paul George you know a lot of people in are a whole lot less excited to go to uh to that new Arena yeah and I mean to be fair I I really thought that Terren man and Norman Powell were bigger than they were I mean they go 65 and 6’4 respectively so they’re those are those guys are guards those are guards yeah those are guards so Terence man maybe can switch up yeah so you got Derrick Jones Jr and now you add in Nick Batum and some of those guys so they’re they’re they’re trying to find a way and obviously kawh Leonard hopefully kawh plays 82 games this year because Nick patum and Derrick Jones Jr isn’t going to quite hit the same as Kawai I mean honestly well it’s almost like I don’t want to say there’s a curse but the same thing happened to the Warriors I know the Warriors did get that Championship but immediately after yeah Kevin Durant left yeah yeah and then they had Kai Bowman and just a rag tag group that was a great year shout out JTA man yeah yeah so I I don’t know what it is and look looking forward to they won’t do it because they’re about to open it but this goes south for the Clippers and next season there will be Kawai conversations oh for sure there should be and I think I I know James Harden just signed his new deal I think it was a two-year deal so uh you can maybe to your point if this season doesn’t go how the Clippers want it to go you get the opening year of Inuit Dome out the way I think uh you know they’re they’re gonna have the Olympics there in 2026 so maybe they’re not super concerned about Revenue after this opening season May maybe who knows maybe they decide to blow it up but I I think at the very least I mean if you’re the Clippers you’re holding on for dear life right like you you thought you were gonna 100% win a championship the day that you get Paul George and kawhai in the building and now that you’ve missed out on that window feels to me like they’re trying to hold on to relevance with all that they can but to your point it’s probably a better move if you aren’t uh if you aren’t actually going to compete to just blow it up man like I know it’s tough to do I know you have to try and keep those stars in the building but it it feels like from an actual organizational Direction they’re going downhill and I mean even the five seed last year I think is disappointing considering how many games kawhai played to me I think that ship has sailed on their Championship window and you can get a good hall for for for Kawai and James Harden it’s probably not the hall you think you can get because kawai’s injury Health but or injury history but you can definitely get get some really good piece and hopefully you can get that that Shay gilis Alexander piece that you already traded off I think that’s the best direction for that team to go yeah and this whole thing is just gonna continue to develop and I’m looking at the rest of the West Chris and okay the Mavericks might have Klay Thompson we’re not so sure I’m a little bit surprised and LeBron apparently called Klay Thompson as as free Agy open p Draymond yeah he he went straight Draymond so if this goes through with the Mavs and the and the Lakers miss out on Klay Thompson it’s a it’s getting a little bit too quiet down there in tinl toown I’m wondering what the Lakers are are gonna do yeah I just can’t see them I mean if you think Kings fans are freaking out oh yeah I know Lakers fans are losing their mind they’re losing their freaking Minds absolutely and for what it’s worth Anthony Slater who we we know is is the source for all things Warriors ALS also is saying Warriors haven’t agreed to any Klay Thompson sign and trade to Dallas at this point per sources could still happen but negotiation finalization would still be needed so it seems like that is definitely not official yet um but yeah I mean I definitely can see the Laker fans freaking out and they’re just as much in Jeremy Grant rumors as as everybody else is uh you know they they have to do something because they they too uh need to get excited about their season they lost out on Chris Paul I thought Chris Paul to the Lakers would have been an 100% done deal him you know ending his career with LeBron in La again he played with JJ reick when they were on the Clippers as anyone who’s watching clipped is well aware um you know they they have a really really good relationship between those two yeah they’re definitely going to be uh in in trade talks but the question is you know the best the Lakers can throw out as we talk about the Kings Toyota Corolla package their package is ruy hachimura maybe the the DLo uh expiring contract since he opted in I I think I would rather have Harrison Barnes or feel like I know how I can insert Harrison Barnes and Kevin herder a whole lot more than I can figure out how to insert ruy hachimura and DLo so we’ll we’ll see how that ends up shaking out but to your point I would definitely expect the Lakers to be in all these conversations as well yeah I’m wondering if the warriors with this whole situation with Clay is there any way I mean they ran the two centers and they had a lot of success the Mavs did with Derrick Lively and Daniel gaffer but I’m wondering Warriors always need a big man any way they can at least recoup a Daniel Gafford and I would think they want to avoid giving up PJ Washington the Mavs but yeah a Daniel gaffard or or I’m just Bas it’s such a funny roster the Mavs have to be completely honest the run that they went on was a bit random I mean if you actually just look their roster and obviously there’s they no longer have Derrick Jones Jr so yeah we will continue to monitor that situation as the Warriors are trying to figure out what the situation is with with Klay Thompson and the Mavs as it was reported that the Mavs were going to get Klay season but he averaged 17.9 points 3.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists which off the top by head I know is better than Harrison bar do you have the minutes there too the minutes he played he played 29.7 minutes a game because it’s probably about the same yeah yeah I mean I I think Clay is definitely still more of a a versatile useful dangerous piece than Harrison Barnes like even as a even as a decoy Clay is like a a very very serious weapon like if he’s just sitting in the corn that’s why the Dallas situation does make a lot of sense if he’s just gonna even stand in the corner and be a decoy you have to keep somebody on him and that that makes it tougher to double Luca it makes it tougher to send help at Kyrie when he hits the lane um you know I I Harrison Barnes just doesn’t provide that so I would say even forget all the actual numbers of of how clay might be better than HB I think even from just a how much does he help our situation be easier to play in I think Clay is is clearly like clearly better than HP yeah HP 12.2 points a game three rebounds a game and one. two assists a game and he did that very very funny 29 minutes a game so clay played seven seven more minutes yeah no I mean it’s you know Clay is definitely taking a step back in his career for sure but he’s still an impact player um you know I don’t know where he’ll fall at points per game wise I think he was somewhere near 17 or 18 a game this season um if he’s gonna if he’s going to end up in in Dallas I could see it falling to like 15 maybe 14 or something like that but I still think he’s going to be a really really big impact player it’s just defensively is going to be the tough thing for that team because if they’re hoping that Klay can be part of the clay that was locking down Kyrie before that’s that’s the problem for Dallas right now that I’m seeing is they have no perimeter defense with any of their guys PJ Washington I guess is decent because of his length but you’ve got Kyrie clay and Luca as your your backcourt Defenders you’re gonna allow some points so they they might be looking like the uh Indiana Pacers next season uh I also was was just uh I just told Nate to W had an interesting piece of audio here uh about where the the Warriors might turn their attention with Klay Thompson possibly being on the outs okay but now with the warriors with Klay gone well they’ll do this sign and trade and Klay Thompson’s agent Greg Lawrence is finishing that with the teams um you know they’ll get back essentially a trade exception uh from Dallas um but for listen they’ve been trying to be aggressive in other places uh in Golden State one player that a number of teams have tried to Target Lori marinin of the Utah Jazz Utah is not sure it wants to trade him but they they have to listen they’ve been listening and a lot of the teams who lost out of Mel Bridges from Brooklyn have transferred over to trying to see if they can uh land Lori marinin out of Utah golden state is one of those teams funky Baseline yeah you know how ESPN does it yeah so uh thought thought that was definitely interesting to hear the Warriors now shifting their focus over to uh Lori marinan as the name that they’re going to look to bring in and you know it brings back the question of what what are they willing to give up because I think in we were talking about what the Kings would have to give up in that Lori Markin in situation there’s no way Danny I could see Danny a taking that deal without Keegan Murray there’s a zero percent chance Danny a is even picking up the phone he’s saying let me get he sees the what give me a what’s the San Francisco 415 415 he sees the 415 doesn’t even he’s just are are we talking kaminga yeah yes or no yes or no tell me that right now right okay psky for Paul George I think the difference was Paul George was then gonna sign right for four or he had just opted in and then he was gonna sign that extension for L marinin it would have to be a similar promise because yeah if he if he walks right the Warriors they look crazy yeah by the way but are they desperate enough to where they might be in a situation we’re willing to take the risk like the Warriors can say we’re the Bay Area we have the histories we have Steph like we’re willing to bet that even though Lor’s not guaranteeing us anything how many people are going to actively Turn Down The Warriors yes that yes I I feel like they would feel confident yeah in that but you know who knows I mean maybe he doesn’t really want to play with Draymond I mean who who knows I mean anything anything can happen by the way speaking of another free agent off the list free agent DeAnthony Melton plans to sign a one-year $ 122.8 million deal with the Golden State Warriors that’s their midlevel that was from Shams and yes Anthony Slater goes into detail to say that is their midlevel backcourt depth and a defensive boost they’ve always liked his game felt he was underused by Memphis in that second round series vers Golden State a couple seasons ago dealt with back injuries last season where would you put Golden State’s lineup right now like is it is it obviously it’s Steph who’s their guard is yeah if they were to play in right let’s just say for whatever reason season starts tomorrow is it Wiggins kaminga Draymond I guess they don’t even have a center right because Looney’s Looney’s on the out like Trace Jackson Davis no I think they run Dray they’re still y’all still doing that huh I think they’re still running Draymond at the five and they start kaminga I think it’s is moving forward and you know is Utah going to be cided by an Andrew Wiggins package I don’t think so I don’t think that’s getting it done no and I mean that’s but that’s the money thing right yeah three-year deal so he is saying he’s sticking to it yeah so so you’re telling me all the Warriors are gonna get back as a second round pick for cl that’s almost more embarrassing well he said in the the audio there that they’re GNA get a trade exception as well which is I mean that that can be useful depending on I mean how how they’re going to use it I guess maybe that help helps them if they’re going to potentially do a Zack LaVine deal you can instead of trying to get all the way up to that salary figure you can use that let’s just call it $16 million trade exception or whatever it would be to just eat into that 16 mil so you wouldn’t have to give up as much but I wouldn’t think that’s going to help you in a Lori marinin trade because Markin in’s contract is already super low and you’re sarch and Caleb Martin who from those names are are uh making you a little bit excited um I really like Precious toua I think he’s a good uh offensive rebounder good hustle energy guy I think that this team could could use him uh and he probably makes somewhere near uh you know I would guess somewhere near 5 mil maybe even vet minimum I’ve like liked Robert Covington’s game for a while I don’t know if he’s still the Robert Covington that I would like him to be but in theory I like a guy like that um and that’s I mean you know sadique bay is interesting I don’t know exactly what role he would work out in I like him it’s also a bit concerning that he was on Detroit and on Atlanta and neither of those situations seem to really want him or find use for him makes me a little bit nervous and um yeah I’ve clearly been hanging out with Brandon too much because Simone fonio is very very intriguing to me uh but the restricted free agent nature of him makes him a bit Untouchable because it’s just not worth waiting and and holding up your money for a couple days waiting for that deal to match Caleb Martin to me is the one that I’m most excited by I think Caleb Martin it’s not that he has untapped potential I think he kind of is who he is but it’s just a really really solid Wing player that I think the Kings could desperately use he’s a guy who can play 10 to 15 minutes any single night and uh and just he could change games like he he’s the type of dude who you know if he’s on on a given day he gives you 10 points in in one little stint and uh it can completely change things of course you know he’s not the guy that we saw in the Conference Finals two years ago against the Celtics but he he’s got pieces of that that definitely um make me excited and for a Kings team that has just lacked Wing depth for as long as I can remember I honestly can’t think of a time where I could realistically say they had Wing depth I think Caleb Martin would be a fantastic addition and somebody who traditionally in Sacramento would probably be a starter but I I think he would be firmly uh a really really solid bench rotation guy yeah I def I definitely like that thought process with C Caleb Martin I really do I I hear what you’re saying on sadique Bay but he might be getting chance he might be getting close to the idea of sadique bay is better than the actual player sadique Bay but I’m not against taking taking a chance on him as well some of the other names KY I’m really surprised Kyle Anderson is still on the board and I would venture to say that he will not be on the board by the end of this show that’s that’s not to say he’ll be a king but I don’t know that he’ll he’ll remain a free agent too too much longer I wouldn’t think so I mean he’s been in a lot of winning situations from Memphis a couple years ago he was obviously on Minnesota the past couple years um I would think that a a team would go out and try and prioritize him I really like him as a fit here in Sacramento he would be somebody I would be um I don’t want to say excited by but I would definitely um be intrigued with what he can bring to this team uh but yeah I mean he’s he’s probably somebody that’s on the radar of a lot of winning organizations and um you know who knows Sacramento could definitely be a spot where he might prioritize because the opportunity is there where you know maybe in a different situation he he might kind of just be an extra guy yeah so those are the names that’s what’s available right now and you know each and every moment as we have our notifications on for all the big hitters so who’s your lineup of big hitters that you have notifications on for wo Shams I’ve got Shams I’ve got Sam amch I’ve got uh Chris Haynes I’ve got W and I’ve got Adam shf those writer they write demaro rosen’s days as the Bulls are with the Bulls are over quote a source tells the told the Sun Times late Sunday night that the Alex guso Josh giddy trade was the final straw in D rozen’s mind for any sort of return as the 34 year-old now will use his free agency to shop elsewhere that is from the Chicago Sun Times so there you go Demar D rozan hitting free agency probably a lot of money money and if I had to guess probably to play in LA that would be my guess um you know that could be a consolation prize for the Clippers and they keep signing all these other guys but you finally get the r roen to La I mean I know the Lakers are gonna have something to say about that because they missed out on Klay Thompson yeah D rozan feels like uh a guy who I’m not quite sure what his motivations are kind of how we talk about Atlanta and and Washington not really picking a direction like d rozan is good I think D rozan could swing a playoff series like I think if he’s your if you add him to a certain team like that could change their trajectory but at the same time like he’s 34 he’s kind of he hasn’t won a title but he’s kind of done it all minus win um what is he GNA prioritize like he’s somebody who in the past I mean as he was in Chicago has kind of prioritized getting the bag instead of being in a winning situation um you know he to me I don’t know why he these guys just seem such natural fits but he feels like a Heat player to me does he not does he not feel like he would fit into heat culture his midr it just feels like he’s Counter Culture Jimmy he’s yeah that’s why maybe that’s why because they’re just mid-range shant and that’s it they’re just like forget your analytics we’re just gonna dog it up and take mid-ranges come on I don’t want to watch I Thompson but I guess I’m talking trades trades not free agency is one thing and the biggest ones have already you know Paul George that Domino has happened Klay Thompson Domino we think has happened so now it’s trade time for the big names yeah I mean it’s it’s definitely it would make the most sense especially with clay out of the picture I think once this officially officially gets done like that’s that’s to me is is the last Domino to fall and you know I don’t think DeRozan’s going to hold up a lot of teams Caps or anything like that it feels to me I I I could see where you’re coming from I just I don’t think there’s any guarantee that it’s G to happen soon I obviously hope it happens soon but it just it’s a little too quiet I don’t know I mean I guess you can read that in two different ways and I guess that’s what this is you can either say it’s too quiet it makes you feel like something’s happening or I’m reading it as it’s really quiet which tells me I I just kind of think a lot of people are working on stuff and things take time especi especially trades trades take a minute well even if it doesn’t happen at 2 p.m you got to hang on for the drive guys because if it doesn’t happen during our show it will definitely if does happen during that show then it will definitely happen yes in the in the morning as well okay speaking of Carmichael Dave yeah we have this sound from Carmichael Dave as he really just breaks down the comparison between Zack LaVine and Brandon Ingram and surprisingly it’s some good stuff almost certainly now again we don’t know the deals but I would say conventional wisdom tells me and and and from what we’ve heard educatedly that Barnes and herder probably get you Kyle kosma Kyle kosma is not not not that far off of Brandon Ingram he’s not Brandon Ingram but look at the numbers he’s not that far off and Weir ly enough a slightly better Defender than Ingram nothing NE neither one you’re you’re writing home to Mom about uh his overall field goal percentage is actually percentage points uh I mean tth of a point better than ingrams um but you’re talking 19 points to 17 kount rebounds him by a full rebound and a half uh Ingram gives you one and a half more assists they steal the ball at the same rate they block at the same rate the only place is really that Ingram got him across the board 46% to 45% from the field 36% to 34% from three 78% to 73% but Jason here’s the other thing KY kma as we’ve documented how kusma is making 10 million less than Ingram this year that goes down to 21 and a half that goes down to 19 and a half kma’s already locked up for three more years on a contract that’s $10 million less than ingrams and if you max out Ingram yeah you’re talking about kma will be making less than half of what Ingram is making and kozma’s locked up again for three more years and assumedly and I think it’s a strong strong bet you’re giving up far less for kozma than you can Ingram so if we take a motion out of the equation we just look at it on on a whiteboard here I think kozma is the more valuable option yeah I really like k kosma i i i don’t really think there’s that big of a gap and that might be disrespectful to Brandon Ingram but I like kozma I like his size I like his ability to to defend I know that Brandon Ingam is probably a bit more skilled offensively but I really like Kyle kosma I don’t know if I agree with Dave that that Kevin herder and and Harrison Barnes alone gets it done but I give a pick cu as well I I would personally you’re talking about on the kozma front you think I think that would get it done um yeah I think that would be enough to get it done they would actually have to get something back in return because that would be too much money um which I think would make it even better for the Kings if you can get kma and Landry shamut and and figure out how to just have it be some version of Barnes and and herder and maybe dwarte or maybe yeah a pick is involved uh in the future I I mean I’ve I feel like we we’ve been criticized for how and we talk about kyoka because to me it makes the most sense everything that Dave laid out is is pretty much exactly how I feel I mean I think the difference between the two players is I think there is a a small Gap I I definitely think a gap exists between the caliber of player that Ingram is and where kozma’s at but I don’t think that Gap is big enough to where financially it makes more sense or a ton more sense to just go after Brandon Ingram I think kozma’s on a fantastic deal Dave laid it out there it’s a declining deal that’s going as low as19 Million by the end of it kozma is is and Brandon Ingram you’re gonna have to sign to a $50 million extension so it kind of becomes a value proposition in my mind of would you rather have Kyle kozma who is worse sure well just for the sake of argument easy argument we’ll say Kyle kosma is just flat out worse than Brandon Ingram but is he $30 million worse than Brandon Ingram because that’s the difference between what kman could eventually make or will eventually make and what Brandon Ingram probably will make on his new contract and for that reason I just think kma makes all the sense in the world especially when you consider what Monty McNair has actually told us with his mouth Monty is not somebody who who reveals much in any of his press conferences but the only thing that that dude has said Time After Time After Time Is We value flexibility more than anything else and Kyle kuzma while it’s it’s you’re still going to be paying and you I think you still enter the luxury tax I’m not sure if you enter the first apron or not but that allows you more flexibility than it would if you bring in Brandon Ingram if you bring in Brandon Ingram a you’re gonna have to pay for it with the assets that gets sent out but you’re also going to have to pay it financially and then by definitely entering that first potentially even the second apron and I don’t know if that’s worth it I don’t know if to the Clipper point of all of this I don’t know if Brandon Ingram is the final piece that takes this team over the hump and makes it so yeah you wouldn’t need another pivot point if if you get Brandon Ingram at the very least Kyle kosma yeah it might not ultimately work out in terms of reaching the Final Destination you want to reach but he still allows you a possible pivot or a possible hey we can add to this situation and for that reason I just think it makes more sense to prioritize kozma over Ingram I don’t necessarily say will say I would rather have uh uh kosma than Ingram because again I do think Ingram is the better player but I just think it makes more sense to prioritize the flexibility for a slightly worse option what about fit because I think kozma fits better I think so too um it kind of depends on what you feel like I mean because yes Brandon Ingram doesn’t fit into a role player as well but if you want Brandon Ingram to fit into being the second or first option he fits into that way better than kma ever would so if you think hey and I think there’s a lot of people and I would maybe even say rightfully so that say look Deon sabonis is not a score like this guy’s not struggling but he’s putting his his everything out there to get to 20 points per game we need to get an actual second scoring option in there that’s where Brandon Ingram makes a ton more sense because Brandon Ingram can walk in and he would happily average 22 to 24 maybe even 25 26 points per game for this team with dearn Fox so it kind of depends on what you feel like takes this team truly to another level are you looking to you know round out all the edges and and get a good five out there or do you feel like the Kings actually have a top level Talent problem and uh and Ingram’s the best way of addressing that I truly think it’s Beauty in the eye of the beholder on that one yeah I I’m getting I’m getting worried Chris I’m getting worried and you have the 916 if if that’s all it took or would take to get him why is it not done they have to be asking for more I I think what is interesting is the fact that the Brandon the Sha Cunningham who we working on getting him on the show at some point this week the Sean Cunningham leak before the leak as far as they’re working on something with Brandon Ingram would kozma almost fall into we heard kozma stuff about a month ago or so but the kozma stuff at this point would almost fall back into the Frankie cardelli it’s going to be something that nobody’s talking about because we’re all talking about now and kma no B we’ve heard nothing yeah and not just the Kings any of these teams that are looking to get better we’ve heard absolutely nothing right that is why I’ve been worried and we had a caller earlier on the show say it’s a little bit worrisome what the Wizards are doing as they’re adding people are they going to try to compete in the East and I think that’s really possible so I don’t know what’s I don’t know what’s going on with KY kosma but I assume he is still available that is also why I’m questioning what the Wizards would want and if the Toyota Corolla package of Harrison parts and and Kevin herder would still be enough I I just don’t know yeah I would I would just say that and I might not even be right on this but per our last conversation like I not to hit you with that email term but per our last conversation I told you um you know I I think that maybe this could be the Kings maybe at one point being at the negotiation table with Washington and telling them hey we told you this is what we’re g to offer if you don’t want it we’ll take it and we can potentially get a deal somewhere else and then you can maybe go back to you know with these new reports that hey even you know Sean Cunningham local reporter someone who’s got boots on the ground is saying the kings are talking about getting Brandon Ingram in in the fold maybe then they can go back to Washington and say hey Washington we’re about to get this Brandon Ingram deal done but we and it you know what this package is good enough for them you sure you don’t want to reconsider we’ll give you final shout because personally yeah we would rather get this kozma deal done but if you’re not willing to play ball then you better be willing to live and die with whatever kman gives you because we’re gonna move on and have to go to this deal so who knows it’s pure speculation at this point for sure but maybe this is the Kings trying to leverage some of their those previous four coaches ever ended up winning a Super Bowl Shanahan is in hallowed company in that regard joining Buffalo Bills Marv Levy the Minnesota Vikings Bud Grant shout out bud the ultimate Legend uh Ted Mary BR I I don’t even know what that is uh a former offensive coordinator with Washington and buffalo a longtime Vikings defensive coordinator Jerry Burns as well Levy and Grant are both Hall of Famers um while the other two are highly regarded but none NE nevertheless fell short of the Lombardi Glory so now Kyle shanan again is in that conversation of uh of five coaches in NFL history to lose their first Super Bowl appearances first three Super Bowl appearances as a head coach or coordinator I guess this is you know a tale of maybe like you know you’re you’re really good but maybe uh you’re you’re you’re just not good enough or or do you think that this is just a just a coincidence huh 44 years old I mean you know there’s there’s a lot of lot of meat left on that bone still I just don’t even if and I hate to say this even if it’s not with the Niners and it’s the Andy that’s why a lot of ner fans are biggest fear is that K Shanahan will be the Andy Reid of the 49ers and he gets it somewh else crazy because whenever this thing ends for K and if they don’t get it done somebody else is going to pick him up oh yeah, he might find himself in a better yeah you know no just a better quarterback conversation right not not that Brock party isn’t really really good but if he gets a complete stud I mean if Andy Reid walks walks into or something I I like to think if you’re if you I’m not a betting man but if I was yes I I would say that he’s going to get one if the over under is is0 five I’m taking the over right and something tells me that these other coaches didn’t reach it as quickly as Shanahan did and you know Shanahan was also about as close as you could get to winning one of those without actually winning it as a coordinator it just you know to me it’s it’s definitely an interesting nugget but I’m more so on your side where this dude especially in today’s NFL is kind of the model for every head coach and I think every you know we see it with the Daniels and the Shawn McVey everybody’s trying to even though McVey is definitely as much a piece of it as Shanahan but everyone’s trying to get a piece of this Shanahan offense and I think with him kind of being the innovator of all this it would just make so much sense if like you said even if it’s not with the Niners at some point here I think this guy’s a good enough football mind to get it done but you know I mean I can feel like TC’s calling getting ready to call right now to tell us you know the problem with Kyle is he gets in his own way and so I think that’s the problem with with saying yeah eventually he’ll get it done is you know it feels like he should have definitely gotten it done already and he’s kind of You could argue the one that’s been the reason why he never wins is because he believes in himself in his system so much that he doesn’t really let the players go out there and win it I wonder if that thing will ever even if he does win a Super Bowl I wonder if the reason why he hasn’t so far is still with him or if that’s something that he progressively kind of lets go a little bit yeah I mean to be completely honest the reason if I’m arguing to bet the under of of5 Super Bowls I mean even that last run with the ners I mean they really should have lost to the Lions yeah right yeah right and they almost lost to the Packers right so as perfect as the season could have gone right and and you just find ways to just make things harder on yourself and you know he never got his guy KK cousins and now Kirk’s in in Atlanta but speaking of Kirk Cousins Chris now with oh yeah Tobias Harris going to going to Detroit he will now have made once he takes this contract he will have now made over $300 million and get one we were talking can I get half just a single accurate where it’s just this guy is just just taking money and I don’t know why it’s all I mean maybe it is Kirk because I don’t know why people continue to throw this much money at Tobias Harris I know Detroit you know is trying to convince him to stay or to come back over there and they’re obviously a terrible team and so it does take a little bit convincing but that’s crazy like why how is Tobias Harris after the run that he has had in Philadelphia a $26 million perear player I mean we’re talking about HB making 18 and that’s crazy there’s no way Tobias Harrison any Universe anymore should be making $26 million after he was already making I think in the 30s with Philadelphia so yeah I mean shout out that dude’s agent he’s cooking for life but I don’t understand who who signs off on that yeah people were talking like he was gonna get the mle or or even less than that because of what happened and he barely takes a I mean he takes a slight pay cut just a little bit little haircut little haircut to go play in in Detroit and like you know he’s just gonna collect checks and like this is the thing I think you were talking about like how how do we not you know we we always hilarious incredible in 2018 or in 2019 he made 30 million yep in 2020 he made 34 million in 2021 he made 35 million in 2022 he made 37 million and in 2023 he made $39 million so it is quite the pay cut yeah sure I mean yeah I guess yeah he’s getting paid half pretty much he was up at you said 39 or 49 39 you said he was at 39 yeah I mean you know yeah it’s it’s it’s it’s a little less but it’s still just so much more like that was already such a gross overpay he probably rever like he probably not even reversed he should have been making 26 million on this last contract and even still people would say he was overpaid and now he should be making absolutely mid-level I don’t see why he’s not signing up to be I mean again to the point of this guy only caring about money and not winning would you rather take 26 million and I guess it’s everyone’s got their preference and we talked about it with Malik but would you rather take 26 million to quite literally be in the worst basketball situation there is or would you take 12 to go play for the Clippers and potentially start and like potentially be a name back in in in uh in La I just don’t see how that makes any sense and for the call and Chris I don’t know if there not possible yeah it’s got to be as it happens right no it has to be the team that he was on before so you cannot sign to a new team and then be traded you have to sign to your previous team and then your previous team trades you so it would be if New Orleans had signed valent chunis they could sign and trade him to to the Kings yes but since Washington is signing him you cannot sign somebody to a deal and then trade him to another team yeah so uh yeah they’re gonna have to figure out how to make the contracts match internally they have to figure out somebody who is already on their roster not somebody who’s you know restricted free agent or anything like that somebody who actually has a contract signed for this next season um that would have to be the person that they throw in in addition to kozma and I’m honestly not 100% sure that they would have to uh reach more salary I I’m pretty sure they would because I know herder and bar equals 30 mil and and and kma’s at 22 but I know that since the Kings have you know made this Davon Sasha trade and uh and and some other things on top of that I’m not sure if maybe they have enough money to just straight up do that deal uh and and have it work out because of some you know trade exception or something that I’m just not super aware of yeah I know names that have popped up before Corey kissper guys like that you know but again I just have no clue what the what the Wizards currently want to do yeah and that is what’s scaring me yeah maybe they could sign and trade tus Jones I would love that but I also kind of feel like uh you know with Devin Carter here he’s kind of the one who’s supposed to get those backup point guard minutes at the moment I wouldn’t sleep on that though everything we’re hearing about de Carter the one thing that we’re really not hearing is that he is that facilitator he’s more of a muck it up and and I can make things happen for myself type guy call Edward all right Chris we have this from cbssports.com and they have the Kings as winners of free agency that’s that’s refreshing to hear yeah definitely doesn’t feel like it yeah super interesting and uh for those wondering it was written 10 10 hours ago so it’s not like you know this was written immediately after Malik monk is signed or anything like that but this is again yeah from cbssports.com they have the Kings as a winner in free agency and here’s the write up there’s some talk that Sacramento might end up Landing Brandon Ingram but until that happens the only move of significance we’ve seen so far is the resigning of Malik Monk on a 4-year $78 million deal that was the max cont that the Kings could offer monk with his early bird rights it’s a big deal that monk signed before even testing free agency as he could have been offered a hundred million by other teams and it’s entirely possible that someone would have gone higher than Sacramento could have matched monk who finished as the Sixth Man of the Year runner up to NAS Reed after averaging a career-high 15.4 points per game and 5.1 assists this past season is an electric scorer for the Kings and he has clearly found a home he was not interested in leaving even with more money likely available I do actually have something on that after we’re done here last season monk LED all bench players in total points and assists and was one of only two players in the past 25 years to have a th points and 300 assists as a reserve according to ESPN stats he also carried the highest assist percentage on drives amongst all players he uh punctures defenses in multiple ways even as a highflying lob finisher from the guard position so this is merely a winner simply because Malik Monk Is back and I do think you know maybe that could offer a little bit of perspective here from the King side of um you know of course we we know and hope that there’s a big deal around the corner but if you were looking in before the offseason as what are the king’s major obstacles that they need to clear this off season Malik monk absolutely was one of them Mike Brown absolutely was one of them I think figuring out what was going on with Sasha Veno future was one of them and I think a lot of people would say backup point guard was also a big question and moving on from Davon and bringing on Devin Carter the Kings have addressed four of what I would say their five biggest needs are and I think the fifth one is very clearly getting a bigger name and not having a sense of running it back having it feel new going into next season and so again I I would maybe say that this is providing some good perspective on maybe yes we are still waiting for this big move to happen and um we all definitely want that to be the case sooner rather than later but the moves the Kings have made so far have all been good moves and things that were essential for them to answer at this off season and they’ve already gotten it done again a day into free agency we are less than still less than 24 hours from the start of free agency and uh and yeah the Kings have pretty much addressed everything that was a major concern for them going into the off season except for the one yes and and yeah it is it is good perspective you know something Chris that we discussed getting into and not sure if I don’t know if today’s I today is not the day for it and I don’t even know if this week is the week for it but yeah there have been guess conversations that Chris and I have had and let’s just put it to you like this don’t be surprised if Malik monk is still the six man and goes after that six man the year title again and the reason I bring that up Chris is because we had conversations about Keon Ellis as a starter and that starting guard position so as we say okay we upgraded we essentially upgraded that second guard position and you could say that between Malik Monk and Devin Carter we still don’t necessarily know who’s going to start which may not be as important as a lot of people think but yeah the the king’s clear clearly at the very least didn’t get worse they have not gotten worse so far and they add Devin Carter and we assume that’s going to make them better but that that four slot is still a glaring issue that is staring them in the face which is funny to say that right and that’s why it’s a package it’s not just one player but it’s funny to say that but then that glaring issue is what you have to move in order to upgrade it yeah I uh I real quick want to uh make note of that uh Malik monk it’s a big deal that monk uh even before testing free agency could have gotten $100 million something that I was thinking about a lot yesterday as all the moves were coming in and frankly as it was so quiet are we sure again I know I know me and Brendan kind of kicked it back and forth on one of the the round taes but are we sure Malik monk would have gotten the money that everybody thinks because I don’t see a lot of $25 million perear contracts being thrown out here and if anybody was getting a gauge on what this Market was going to look like before the actual free agency started it was Malik monk who was very very aware that he was gonna at least kick the tires on the market this offseason and I’m assuming his agent was doing all of the due diligence all of the work to say hey what would your guys’s offers be what would your offers be I mean maybe the Hope was hey or at some point after Klay Thompson after Paul George clears out maybe or orl will have that $25 million per year offer for you but we’re in that situation now I don’t know if I could see if if Malik were a free agent right now do we think Orlando would be willing to throw 25 Mill I mean they just paid kcp significantly under that Klay Thompson just signed a $16 million contract yeah doesn’t seem to me especially with the tax aprons and everything like people were super willing to just throw a ton of money out so I’m starting to think that maybe it was a bit overblown and while yes it is a great deal that the Kings have signed Malik monk to I’m not so confident that those 20 million per year offers were ever gonna be there well I I the question becomes and this this guy’s a champion the question becomes do you think that the magic would have given Malik monk what they gave kcp and I’m actually what exactly did they give so these are the estimates right now but it’s three it’s three years 66 million so essentially 22 a year so I feel like they probably would have prioritize kcp I agree you know I agree I mean he’s a champion and we know how that goes so you have kcp at 22 mil a year you have clay at 16 m a year right the only one that checks out Chris is exactly what we talked about I don’t know they’re not the same position obviously but it would have been Detroit yeah right they gave $25 million a year yeah and maybe that maybe it would have been a lesser contract and Malik gets some of it but that’s what Malik spoke about right do I want to go to Detroit for 22 million or just stay in Sacramento and maybe that’s literally exactly what he was talking about maybe those were the offers that he was given that it was Charlotte for 22 mil which by the way he was never ever ever ever going to go back to Charlotte the way that Malik talks about Charlotte not that he’s really ever said something negative about Charlotte specific Al but if you read his body language and kind of hear his tone when he talks about Charlotte it was not an enjoyable time for him uh yeah that would have been the only thing is if Detroit and them would have thrown him a bag and you know yeah maybe he was literally laying out for us that you know I could go take that money but let’s be honest I’m not going to do that and I don’t want to and that’s why Malik didn’t even kick the tires wasn’t even willing to say okay it’s a good enough bet that that situation ends up playing out which it did I don’t care I’ll just take the money I’m fine here and if that deal never comes I’ll regret not signing in Sacramento and just taking the money Allah maybe a Dennis shrewder situation um and so yeah maybe Malik’s signing so instantly uh resigning to the Kings should have been a sign that maybe this Market wasn’t exactly what we thought it was going to be coming up next switch up like if you switch one of your five starters that’s a change like that is going to change the dynamic of how you do things and you know they’ve already added a a young draft player they’ve added completely different two-ways they shipped off Davon and Sasha I think they’ve done enough clearing out it’s more just who they bring in and of course I think they’re going to have to clear out a little bit more to bring somebody in but in terms of a lot of familiar faces it’s really only the starting five Trey ly and dwarte are the only seven that are that are still here and Malik of course as well um so that’s eight but I think for the most part it’s and Alex Len actually I forgot about Len so that’s nine nine nine players back and six new new faces um I don’t know I think yeah I think her herder and Barnes are really the ones that people want to see moved on from I think Davon and Sasha not being here is a really big shift um at least just from last year to this year and yeah again like if you if you switch up one of your starting five to me that’s big enough of a change to not say you’re running it back you truly did you’re trying something else different and uh I I just wholeheartedly believe that both of them are going to be gone H well we’re refreshing not yet not not yet but we are continuing to see what is what is going to unfold in this whole situation so yeah man and as far as who scares you the most Spurs getting Chris Paul are we in playin territory now are we in playoff territory now just from Chris Paul being there I mean Chris Paul’s 38 years old and you know he he can’t really impact the same way he used to they’ll be lucky if he gets 65 games played for him um I think that’s more of just getting wemi an actual point guard and understanding hey man like this is how easy things could be and then of course with like pop and Chris Paul in his ear I think it’s just kind of about getting his basketball IQ to a certain level maybe all of them really that whole roster yeah I mean I I just think that they’re maybe going to fight for 12 seed like their their hope is I would assume not to be the worst team in the west and maybe even get close to a play but I I don’t think they actually have plan aspirations yeah I’m looking here and this roster is it’s a real who’s that it’s it’s awful it’s not good it’s definitely not great I mean they’re they’re they’re work in progress for sure it’s Wy and everybody else you know you got you still got Kellin Johnson there I I really like K Johnson um yeah yeah Devonte Graham’s fine de Vel I think a lot of people are really high on they’re excited to see where he kind of goes I think those are the two pieces that they’re really building around of course as Wy Kellin and and vasel and you know Tre Jones when’s Trey Jones gonna play now uh yeah I mean you know I I don’t know if Chris Chris Paul will probably start maybe he won’t I mean I know it was a big deal last year for him to come off the bench after never coming off the bench but uh Trey Jones started 48 of their 77 games so it wouldn’t surprise me if he comes off the bench too um that that would be my guess is he probably is I mean Chris Paul is not going to be playing 30 minutes a night so he’ll probably fill in the rest yeah and now Chris you I know you just love this time of year somebody is responding to me saying if they don’t do anything the Kings Fox will request a trade um maybe not this season but you know that’s definitely on the horizon for sure I mean I’m not going to not going to act like that’s not even close to a possibility um you know and dear kind of mentioned or his his agent kind of did through those uh through that that report the other day from amch and and Anthony Slater that you know the Kings do have to uh continue to try and build for dear to want to resign that’s going to be a part of it but I I think ultimately you know Daran is is in lock Step At least at the moment uh with where they’re going the direction that they’re trying to go and uh I wouldn’t think dearen dear just hasn’t done that his entire time in ACO to be honest a lot of it has been in some pretty bad situations he has LaVine has literally no Market there’s they have been trying they keep trying to attach first round picks to him nobody wants him is because the contract and I’ve been saying this for so long is such an anchor it stops you from doing other things and nobody’s just going to willingly take that on unless you already have the intention of not doing anything like if you’re a Portland Trailblazer if you’re a a Charlotte Hornets you can take on Zack LaVine but if you’re realistically trying to win and you’re not desperate like maybe the Warriors might get maybe like the Lakers might get there is no reason to take Zack LaVine on more importantly that contract on of course I think Zack the player might be worth the risk but when you add on the contract to it on top of the injury risk there’s just no way you can justify that unless you’re just fully admitting this is a really really big risk a big chance we’re taking and we’re just hoping that it pans out but even then financially I don’t to do the business thing instead of the actual basketball thing yeah there’s only 15 spots on that roster and one of them is being used on LeBron James Jr yeah in in my opinion I guess it’s more of that it’s gonna happen anyway so I’m just but it doesn’t happen it does though not in sports yes it does all the time on the floor yes does all the time players get drafted because of their siblings because of their dads all the time are you tell Chris yeah we talk about thanasis is the is the example there yeah that that is an example yeah but I’m saying guys that are Fringe dudes and maybe maybe it’s more specifically in in baseball because I know I know for a fact in baseball there’s more rounds in baseball so maybe there’s more rounds and there’s more players too maybe there’s a bronny yeah they didn’t get dra like that’s the problem is that yeah I mean I know nepotism isn’t apparently it’s not created equal for everyone because to that point bronnie gets drafted those guys don’t they still benefit from nepotism to an extent but the problem is bronny didn’t deserve that spot and he was given that spot he had no business being in that spot and it doesn’t matter if that happens outside of the other in in different universes that doesn’t mean it’s okay yeah I I would say I have more of an issue with how it was handled and the idea of trying to it it’s very you know what this is it’s another version of the decision where it’s just very manufactured and oh my gosh we’re so surprised that his name got called it’s just not organic right and it doesn’t come off as authentic I have more of an issue with that than the Lakers deciding to draft LeBron’s son sure simply because it’s this stuff happens everything that Colin said you know and we still have it goes just like Colin said to the colleges and everything like that you know even even high schools right if you’re a legacy with some of these private these private school but you could have a problem with it as a whole and that’s fine but I’m not gonna single and I know what you’re saying as far as but it’s the same it could be the same thing with school if you if you have a kid who’s GPA isn’t where it probably needs to be but his Dad or Mom was somewhere up in the University they’re still gonna get in so I I if you have a problem with it as a whole I get that I’m just because of that I’m not thing to that pardon me but to your point after they won the championship clay came back the next year and he was not in shape right because he was he said I was freaked out about working out yeah gon get hurt again so he admittedly he was not in good shape yeah he really struggled and then he got bitter about everything right clay didn’t do bitter very well but what was weird to me was the idea of you and and he ends up getting paid less more years but he ends up getting paid less annually than the Warriors initially offering him 24 a year for two years he ends up getting 16 for for three years with the Mavericks what’s funny to me is that I can appreciate I I I feel like Chris and I and and from what I’ve heard from the drive guys and obviously Dave on this station we peel back curtains and we’re ve very honest about things we don’t sit there act like everything is perfect and we live this Rockstar lifestyle we talk we’re real people at this station going Chris because I have no idea where this well I’m so I really appreciate Klay Thompson doing that and talking about his struggles and saying that he’s not the player that he once was but for him to do all that and then say oh wait wait wait I said I was washed but not that washed you know what I mean and then feel disrespected from what the Warriors offered him that was what was bizarre to me can’t talk about how you’re not the same player throughout the whole season and then get upset that they offer you what they think you are now I don’t get it yeah and to that point too how much of this and you guys are definitely more tied in with that situation how much do you think is just like he sees p and I know he got the contract extension offer but to see Jordan P get the deal he got and then to see Draymond get the deal he got how much of it is like well I just kind of thought it would be a no question for me right like yeah but that was Jordan P’s first bag and Draymond had never taken the max before sure but you know they brought P there they didn’t say this but it was pretty clear they brought him there to replace clay when he first came there in fact he was a spot up it’s one of the reasons he struggled so much they wanted him to play like clay you know spot up shooter and of course he’s not really that he’s more of a more of a point but clay I think resented pool and that from from the beginning yeah you know the year after they lost to Toronto and clay was hurt yeah so there was a lot of it built up and he I don’t think he handled it well at all and I always thought that the punch kind of saved the Warriors from a very awkward conversation earlier on because you whatever they gave p and Clay what he was making you weren’t going to be able to pay and I think the locker room knew this I’m not saying that’s why Draymond clocked him but you weren’t once Jordan Paul got that that bag you weren’t going to pay three guards over $30 million right so somebody was gonna have to go and then when he got punched they it made it much easier but I think that if that doesn’t happen and let’s say Jordan P continued his trajectory clay probably would have been the one that was moved I thought the mistake with P was paying him before they had to they could have let him go to restricted free agency yeah they gave him all that money and then I don’t know but who cares about the Warriors right as a crumble before our very eyes I love it I’ll tell you what I love it when I saw Chris Paul uh was was going to hit free agency I was like oh this is desperation this is the last this is the last stand here if they are letting Chris Paul Walk that was true admission of we tried we tried we really wanted to have something to you know they they let KD walk they still have D’Angelo Russell to show for it and then they turn that into Wiggins they let P walk they have Chris Paul and it’s like no we still like it’s not a failed trade it’s it’s a TBD because we have to see and then to just let him walk is just the ultimate we tried we got a TR yeah yeah and and it’s it was just great the second I saw that hit my timeline I I I wanted to to take a drink of cele so in a way the Kings did finish off the Warriors absolutely absolutely it came a year later than we thought it would but it feels good to know that yeah Klay Thompson even though he did give it to us and and had what 34 and a quarter or whatever it was who’s who’s but then he was also 0 for 10 who’s cting who’s cting record so they kind semantics is it a record to go 0 for 10 because it felt like it it felt like a record
