One of the creative, outside the box ideas that Miami could pursue is trade one of its guards (the obvious names) to a team with cap space for a first round pick and a lesser player, earning much less money, thus taking Miami well enough below first apron to execute DeRozan deal

This would be ideal. Get some assets back still get DeRozan. This could truly set Miami up for a bigger deal later as well.

I suggested this the other day. I suggested we trade Tyler to Chicago for Vucevic and their 2025 FRP from Portland. That lowers our salary cap by 9 million. That still might not be enough for Derozan though. In my other scenario, we used the additional savings to do sign and trade with Toronto for Gary Trent Jr.

I think the Pelle pick was also insurance for losing herro/duncan. We shall see

  4. I just don’t know who is giving up a pick for our guards.

I think Rozier is the one getting sent out. I haven’t heard anything from him since his injury. Tho I highly doubt any team would trade for an injured player

Call me crazy but Butler + Derozan + Bam is a spacing nightmare

They don’t have much value. Maybe Terry does but he’s probably the guy you most want to keep? They should lower their expectations on Tyler. That money is toxic. If you can get a team to throw a flyer at him for a protected frp you should do it immediately. I’d say Duncan too but he comes off the books sooner

Pistons bros y’all want a shooter to surround Cade right?

Let me introduce you to one Tyler Herro. We will take one Isiah Stewart and a 1st!

    Deal?

I hate it but I want to see something different this year

I’m a huge fan of this scenario! DeMar’s fit isn’t ideal, but he’s talented enough to where he can likely at least help us get through the regular season. And if not, he becomes a tradable asset at the deadline midseason, or next offseason. All in all, Barry’s proposed scenario nets us a FRP, Derozan, and we get rid of Herro/Dunc’s longterm salary.

Essentially, this isn’t a move meant to make us a contender. It’s a retooling move that keeps us relatively the same, but gives us a higher ceiling and much more flexibility to potentially improve next offseason. Flexibility that we do not currently have.

Trading Herro just to get Derozan is the single dumbest move I can imagine. Please for the love of god do not do this Heat.

  12. Pat Riley could make an account, come to the sub, post both a text and video saying “we aren’t making any trades” and yall would STILL assume we’re making a trade.

Going from we won’t offer #14 for harden to

We are dumping #14 to save money and sign derozan

What a fun few years it’s been

I’m ok with parting w/ Terry to get us under the apron to make some moves but not for Demar. I’d rather have Tyus Jones/Gary Trent or Gordon Hayward/Another Big

Names and stars are great, but we really need depth more than anything at this point. Especially with our injury history, need as many reliable options to get through the regular season as possible

Awesome. We know why Barry isn’t GM in the first place, but it’s nice of him to remind us.

I feel like Rozier and Herro are redundant on a team like this, they both are ball dominant scorers who self generate and are not natural point guards, we already have Jimmy on top of this.

I feel like Derozan would need the ball less, and at least be more efficient when he has the ball. He also is a better defender and sturdier in general. He can shoot threes enough where people have to respect it.

Then add in a first rd pick, considering what we have been able to do with those, this would be enticing

its like every year the new off season is trying to out-do the last one in how shitty it can be
