5 Free Agents the Cavs can still get! Cleveland Cavaliers News, NBA Free Agency
today I am going over five free agents who are still available and could make a difference for the Cleveland Cavaliers so far the Cavs have not made any moves in free agency this summer and I know everyone is feeling antsy so I wanted to break down some of the names who are still out there and if the Cavs were able to add any of these guys then I would feel pretty satisfied because this year’s free agency class was not great to begin with and the Cavs don’t exactly have that much wiggle room financially so I have five players who I think would be great fits in Cleveland and I’m just going to go rapid fire here and share my thoughts on each one I think the pitch for most of these guys is straightforward they are legitimate wings and can shoot the three-pointer to varying degrees before we get started let me just say thank you for all of the support that this channel has had in recent days it’s been a lot of fun making these videos and watching the channel grow so I really appreciate it and if you’re new to the channel or if you’re a returning viewer who just hasn’t subscribed yet help me out and click that subscribe button drop a like and let me know in the comments who you want the Cavs to sign this summer I would love to hear what everyone is thinking and getting into my list let me also say this is not in any particular order I’m just running down five names that interest me starting here I’m buying all of the Sadiq Bay stock that you have to offer on one condition and that’s if ba finds himself on the right team and under the right circumstances which I think the Cavaliers can offer to him look B is a 67 wing with legit legitimate NBA range as a three-point shooter I know he’s coming off a career worse season where he really struggled to find any consistency in Atlanta but he’s still a career 35% three-point shooter and he is lights out at the free throw line nearly 85% for his career so I have a lot of faith in sadique Bay returning to for next season as a jump shooter and most of all the reason why I’m so high on him is I think he has just been a product of being on bad teams he has spent his entire career in the lottery on Detroit right and then he joins an Atlanta team that is just in complete disarray I know they’re too talented to be a total mess but the Vibes on that Squad were just awful horrendous every time I watched them I don’t think they were in a position to maximize someone like sadik Bay and I truly think that he could shine as one of the better role players in the NBA if he was on a winning team with good chemistry and in a system that understood how to utilize him again 67 athletic Wing has all of the physical tools to be a good Defender at the very least a good team Defender even if he doesn’t become a lock down individual guy and I fully believe in that jumper so you add him to the Cavs and I think he would be their starting Wing very quickly I know there’s plenty of reason that people are low on Bay and I was low on him myself just a week ago but I have talked myself into it put me on record this is my guy I want the Cavs to go out and get sadique Bay please another player who I don’t think anyone should complain about is Jetty Osman Cavs fans you know what to expect from our beloved Jetty he’s never going to be quite as good as you want him to be but he’s got that smile the hair he’s a fan favorite his teammates all love him he raises The Vibes in the locker room like none other and he’s actually capable of being a flamethrower on the court from time to time you will likely never see Osman put the total package together consistently on a night to night basis at this stage in his career that consistency has long been the challenge for him but the Cavs have such a glaring need for wings that if you add Osman back into the rotation especially under a coach like Kenny ainson who I think would get the most out of Osman as a cutter and secondary playmaker then I think Osman reaches whatever ceiling he may still have by returning to Cleveland and aside from the fan favorite aspect he is genuinely a helpful player and I would gladly welcome Jetty back moving along here we have the first of two Miami Heat guys and that would be Caleb Martin now listen Heat fans before you get upset you took LeBron James us so let me have Caleb Martin giving us Max Shu was just the start of the reparations we have a lot of progress to make and you took Kevin Love along the way so it’s only right that you start paying us back but anyways Martin isn’t easy sell for me he’s athletic versatile he can play multiple positions rebound defend hits three-pointers at a somewhat inconsistent rate but one thing that stands out to me is that Martin has proven to elevate his game in the NBA Playoffs each year he notably played a role in Miami’s run to the finals blasting the Boston Celtics in the process and I just don’t see why anyone in Cleveland would be upset about adding Martin for the mle this is a no-brainer right I I don’t know if that’s unpopular to say but I would be thrilled to get Martin for that price I actually wouldn’t be surprised if he is out of their price range altogether I don’t think he’s an Allstar or anything but Martin is certainly a productive starter level player in the NBA at a position the Cavs sorely need a starter so you can sign me up next up we have Simone Von who I’ll be honest guys and don’t judge me for this I wasn’t watching the Utah Jazz or the Detroit Pistons very often last season so fonio has mostly flown under my radar I haven’t seen enough of him to form a strong opinion but again like I said at the top the pitch is pretty obvious he’s a rangy 67 forward who can knock down three-pointers he averaged 15 points per game at a great clip in the last few weeks of the season Once he got to Detroit and he FS a positional need for the C cavers I’m not sure if he would start for the Cavs in the way that I think sydne Bay or Caleb Martin would but I definitely think Bono has a chance to surprise some people considering he’s an older player at 28 but he’s only been in the NBA for two seasons and he’s never really been on a winning team that could get the most out of him so while his ceiling is low I think he has a lot to offer that just hasn’t really been shown in a meaningful way just yet now it’s important to say he is the only restricted free agent on this list which complicates things and makes the path towards getting him a little more difficult I don’t care to break down the Nuance of the NBA salary cap or any of that stuff that’s not my job look if the Cavs want to add him then I am positive they can find a way to go get him and if they go down that path then they have my support moving into our final player that is Haywood heith another heat Swingman who can scale up to play the power forward position this is a pretty seamless fit for the Cavs I’d expect him to play the backup forward role kind of just bumping George Nang out of the rotation entirely and probably splitting his minutes with Dean Wade although in all honesty I think I would feel more comfortable with high Smith than Wade at this stage even just because of his availability and again he’s a lanky athletic dude who can provide versatility and a little bit of floor spacing he is probably the worst shooter of this group and he might not do enough to draw Defenders out and force a contest but I guess it depends on how much Faith you place in his shooting jump from last season because he was a low volume 33% SHO before he jumped to nearly 40% last year still on low volume because of the role he played in Miami but definitely a step forward and of course you do run the risk of buying high on a Miami Heat success story but hey if the shooting turns out to be legit which I think you can make a case for and you think he brings the defensive versatility and size on the bench that Cleveland is missing then as I’ve said for each player on the list there will be no complaints from me this free agency class isn’t super strong and the Cavs have limited options but all of these guys would bolster the second unit or even pose a chance at starting for the Cavs and that’s about all you could ask for the mle that’s going to do it for this episode again thank you so much to everyone who has subscribed recently it’s been a very exciting month making videos and I plan on keeping this momentum rolling I’ll have another video up this evening talking to Jackson and hopefully Corey about the free agency season so far and we will open up a conversation on at least a couple of the players that I mentioned today so if you aren’t sub subcribe make sure you do so so you don’t miss any of the upcoming videos and with all that being said go Cavs
These free agents are still available for the Cleveland Cavaliers.
