He’s said all along he was happy here. It was always a media narrative he wanted out, and never by any of the insiders. There was never anything out of his camp about being unhappy or wanting to leave.
Like the media people who kept on saying he wanted to play in NY. Sure, he did say that he wanted to play there when he was a kid prior to being traded here…but he has NEVER said that since being traded here. It’s crazy how people can’t grasp a player wanting to play for a smaller market.
I’ve said before when people tried to argue that he never asked to be traded from Utah either, he simply didn’t want to be on the same team with Gobert. He would have been perfectly happy to stay there too after Gobert was traded had the Jazz been going in the direction of trying to win rather than rebuild.
Not everyone is trying to go to a big market team. Competitive players want to win first and foremost. Sure, he’d definitely want out if the Cavs weren’t trying to compete, but that’s not the case. The only problem he had with the team was JB for understandable reasons, and they moved on from him.
