their first outside free agent of the summer David we are talking about Alec Burks we’ll talk about what all of this means for the roster going forward uh but what are your thoughts on Alec Burks and Tred not to sound too excited oh I it’s I mean quality veteran player guy who can attack the rim put up shots knows how to feel basket yes that’s about as excited as you able to get for that huh that and that all that it’s like that’s really mustard there look I he’s a veteran I I don’t even know like he doesn’t even strike me as the guy who has typically been that kind of strong veteran voice the stabilizing presence like Patty Mills for all that he might not have accomplished on the court I don’t think anybody questioned the leadership the experience off the court having played for high stakes with the Spurs and you know having played for Greg papovich and being a a leader for the Australian National men’s basketball team like all these things ticked a lot of boxes from what Miami typically looks for Alec Burks not a knock but you know kind of guy like saying you know what I’m still kind of really just happy to be in the league and I’m going to keep collecting them checks until these checks stop coming in but I don’t know that anybody’s looked at the an addition of Alec Burks who’s mostly been in the news over the last few seasons as a salary fill in for a trade or maybe a guy that they add in Midway through a season maybe you know for various teams like that uh other than that it’s not like you’re bringing him in to provide that kind of vocal leadership you know the veteran experience that you want from somebody like that so it’s hard to kind of get jazzed up for it other than he’s still a quality NBA player the quality part is you know that’s up to interpretation but he can still get to the he can still do things in terms of offensively defensively you know he’s never been good as a defensive player he he’s just he is a a player who will occasionally score um look if there’s a a silver lining to this really dark cloud it’s that you know what maybe Miami can get him in shape get him to buy in Get Him to have a clear role but even even that feels like it’s pushing it to a h decree wow you are down on Alec Burke so your your scouting report on Alec Burks is he’s a player who can do things and occasionally score uh yep he’s a better player than Patty Mills he just is right now in their careers the guy could still go out there and actually SC he averaged 10 points a game last season now he was split Detroit and New York yeah but Patty Mills had some opportunities and he wasn’t scoring 10 points per game it just wasn’t happening Alec Burks is not the small guard that Patty Mills is Alec Burks people think he’s a tiny guy’s 6′ six all right he’s he’s a bigger player than people think so no no I I know guard small Ford kind of player right I mean he’s he might even play the four for Miami who knows when you talk about not being sort of that that that veteran voice in the locker room I’m not sure he has a voice so I covered him he played a half season in Golden State I actually covered him this is when I was a beat reporter traveling with the team and so I was around Alec Burks a lot lot I can’t tell you one conversation I had with that guy he might be the quietest player in the NBA he is a boring interview on purpose he doesn’t want to say much he’s not very interested in talking with the media I don’t know and it’s not I shouldn’t even just say the media in that locker room he’s not somebody going out of his way to talk to his teammates he’s not a bad teammate he’s actually very well respected around the league right but he’s he’s a quiet guy in other words and I actually think that he’d kind of likeed that stuff the guy’s not going to give away any organization secrets you don’t have to worry about him saying the wrong thing because he’s just going to say nothing uh so I’m this will be interesting Jimmy Butler could lose a limb out there and Alec Burks alongside the rest of the heat PR would be like I don’t even know what happened I think he could just a regular Tuesday man just day to day day to day um so he did have some moments uh in the playoffs I’ve seen this statistic kind of going around line he scored 20 points 26 points and 18 points in three games uh in the playoffs against the Pacers and that Nicks Pacer series I counter with all three of those games were major garbage time a 32-point game a 30-point game and a 21-point game so let’s not get uh too excited about Alec Burks putting up garbage time points that said the guy’s a bucket the guy is just a quote unquote professional scorer he could juice your offense he’s not a super efficient scorer kind of 42% for his career but he’s a 38% career three-point shooter and he’s willing to take shots and if you’re looking just to fill spots on the roster on with a minimum salary it’s not like they handed out the mid-level exception to this guy you could do a lot worse than Alec Burks and I actually like him for this team considering that we don’t know if Josh Richardson’s going to be ready to start the season healthy we don’t know if Drew Smith will be available to begin the season because he’s coming off the knee uh injury there having just a guy who’s been around the league and can walk has routinely walked into different situations and just done Alec Burks things like the one thing about Alec Burks it doesn’t matter what situation you put him in he’s going to play the same way and so you kind of know what to expect from Alec Burks and and he walks in and you say all right you know what when Terry Rosier and Tyler hero are out of the game and we need somebody to just have a skilled ball handler who we trust to just do stuff on offense okay we got Alec Burks for 5 to 10 minutes in tonight you know and that’s kind of the job you know you’re not you’re not asking this guy to save your offense you’re just asking them to play a job play a role I’m going to go go out in a limb here and say that he’s not GNA finish the season with Miami I just don’t think it’s gonna last when was the last time he finished the season with the team he started the season with I mentioned the Golden State one he got traded I think to Phil got traded to Philadelphia that year so let me let me kind of go this last year so he started the year on Detroit ends ends it with the Knicks um he had actually played for the Knicks the two previous years before they let him go Detroit signs him and then they trade him trade back for him uh and then it was 201920 season which is the year I cover the Warriors he played 48 games before getting moved at the deadline to Philadelphia um so and then in 20189 201920 right that was that year the year before that the 201819 season he started the year on Utah and ended up on Cleveland and then somehow ended up on Sacramento so he played for three different teams that year so he is not except for those two Nick Seasons he’s basically just been a journeyman and every team he started with was a different team than the one he ended with basically since 2018 save for two seasons um yeah I mean he might not be on the roster at the end of the year but if he can give you 40 decent games before the trade deadline like with some not even decent games can it give you a few good minutes in 40 games for the deadline I don’t know what else what else was he supposed to do would you rather have them put gave this job to Patty Mills again because he was a he was doing nothing for them yeah no you see this is this is the long-standing argument against Udonis Haslam and why I refuted it every time when we were talking about Udonis Haslam that was a veteran presence that was interwoven into the fabric of that heat locker room in a way that he is he’s there just as much as the carpeting that’s been there since 2001 or whatever you know that he’s been there longer than anything in that locker room so to me like that’s a different completely idea this is kind of a wasted roster spot to me because like yeah you can get something out of Alec Burks yeah you know me typically I am like oh would you rather this go to like some voice no I’d rather just go to like RJ Hampton I’d rather just go to Alis Williams I’d rather just go to Cole schwier like like a like a a development thing yep maybe it does look they’ve got more roster spots to deal this wasn’t the last spot on the roster you know so and that’s something we’ll touch on a little bit later but to your point like the summer league roster we’re not going to talk about the summer league roster in depth right now but there’s 11 rookies on that roster right so they are definitely sort of replenishing the pipeline right now they’re doing the work on that stuff but I I think you still need proven players on the standard contracts if you’re only going to carry 14 of them like RJ Hampton’s not a proven NBA player like Alec Burks like I said you just it’s not it’s not exciting necessarily but you know what you’re getting from them I don’t know I look around the league and I’m looking at these guys are going for minimums and I’m just like yeah this is about right you know it’s an underwhelming free agent class in general and I’m fine with it like I said I’m not getting super excited about it but I think he he fits something that this team needs they need offense this guy can score he’s not going to save the offense but it’ll be a better option than Delan Wright and Patty Mills were last year and in that way I guess it’s sort of an a roster upgrade in sort of strange how does he end the season from three-point range like is it like uh above 40% or below 40% probably below I don’t know it depends I mean he shot he shot 38% last year almost 37.6% the year before that he was 41% the year before that 40% the year before that 41% the guy’s a really good three-point shooter so he can come in and knock down some open shots I think that’s fine I don’t know what else people are looking from the 14th or 13th spot on the roster so it is what it is 30% in New York should have been the other way around and 40% in Detroit yeah when he was when they when they when they traded him or waved him or whatever they got rid of their best three-point shooter evidently so I don’t know guy’s a good three-point shooter career 38 I’m looking forward to it I’m looking forward to it you know what I I hope I I hope he shows out I hope yeah I hope he uh gonna he’s just gonna come in and and hit a few jumpers and then go back to the bench that’s the job Burke’s gamewinner sure look he’ll take it he’s not afraid to take it take it to take it we don’t know if he’ll make it um so I mentioned before that they they do have another roster spot available why is that they signed Alec Burk they signed Thomas Bryant what’s going on what’s the state of the roster contract coincidentally Thomas Bryant declined a player option worth $2.8 million to enter free agency look he went out there I don’t know if the if this was the plan all long was to resign because the weird thing with the NBA cap and this is maybe Andy if if Andy ellberg and Thomas Bryant Were In Cahoots on this whole thing just another example of ellsberg’s genius with the with the cap here but because he opted out of his player option which was worth $2.8 million and because he signed a new veteran minimum contract as unrestricted free agent at 2.8 million the new contract is actually uh carries a $2.1 million cap hit so by opting out and then resigning at the same monetary value so Thomas Bryant still Cashes in the same check basically at 2.8 mil but it saves the Heat $700,000 against the cap so that is Ping genius right there if in if in fact that that was the plan all along or as you and I suspected Thomas Bry was going to opt out look around see if there is more playing time and an opportunity somewhere else and when then that didn’t come up he there was an opportunity still in Miami because the one thing about Thomas Bryant he finished the he started the Year everybody was really excited seven-footer who can rebound shoot threes all these things kind of played himself out of the rotation and then ended up taking the Orlando Robinson Orlando Robinson ended up being the third Center kind of January February part middle of the Season then orando Robinson loses the job Thomas Bryant by the end of the season was the third Center behind bam and Kevin Love and I think he was really well-liked in that Locker Room by the way I think the veterans really liked him like everybody I talked to love Thomas Bryant so I think that’s also a part of it too uh Thomas Bryan is an easy friend to make so uh whatever he comes back and now he’s on the roster this also probably means that Orlando Robinson’s going to get waved uh he his contract becomes fully guaranteed on July 15th so the heat 14 players under contract right now on the standard 15 man roster but we could probably assume at this point that it’s going to be 13 guys on the roster right now when you consider that they’re going to wave Orlando Robinson who by the way was not included on the summer league roster which was kind of a dead giveaway so uh we could talk we’ll talk about what they could do with that 14th roster spot later on but let’s start here with Thomas Bryant what do you think about him coming back David surprising um I just I again I I I don’t understand like I know he outplayed or earned the spot over Orlando but it’s just another one that’s a little difficult to swallow considering how uninspiring his play was last year like he had moments he had moments I think there’s still potential there like I I I think the idea of Thomas Bryant and what Miami was signing him I mean I again Bobby Mark said at the beginning of last year before the season started that Miami had the best center tandem in the NBA the best backup center in the league Etc and that wound up not being anywhere near the case although Kevin Love was pretty good but that was Marx did not know he was talking about love when he was saying making that statement he was talking about Bryant and that was the idea that they were gonna get something out of Bryant where he was goingon to be able to contribute at a high level and it’s not even a knock on him it’s just he’s better than Dwayne deadmond yep that’s not saying much either like Dean really struggled especially towards the end of his stint in Miami I I just don’t you know there’s nothing really great to say about the Brian aition unless he makes a leap and I he’s 20 six going to 27 he’ll be 27 in a month or so so there’s still time there’s still potential there for him to kind of continue to improve and especially if he’s been putting in the work over the summer and maybe he can show out and especially if they’re going to be shifting to uh you know a lineup where a more traditional Center like khil we Thomas Bryant Etc playing the actual Center spot and then moving bam down maybe Kevin Love plays more to the four instead of the five it could work out so I’m cautiously optimistic yeah I mean look I’m looking at to your point about the potential that Thomas Bryant has it’s still it’s still there he’s going to be 27 the guy’s not old by any stretch and I thought it was weird that they he he played him the way that they used him the way that they used him right he came in with the three-point shooting potential this guy made four threes all season long you know I would like I I thought we would see more of that from his game but if the Heat’s plan is the play bam out of Bio power forward more than having a guy at 611 like Thomas Bryant 611 7 feet almost 7even feet tall like Thomas Bryant and then also khil wear obviously maybe that becomes the center rotation where it’s Bryant and wear and Bam’s gonna play center obviously too but yeah and then you and maybe the idea is okay like Bryant in his second year back with Miami another Pro IT contract year for him even though that I don’t know that it necessarily worked all that great last year but he had the player option now he doesn’t have a player option so I don’t know maybe that’s a little extra motivation I don’t know maybe it does make sense to me I think you want another center with at least some three-point shooting potential if indeed the the the idea going into this next season is to play bam at Power Forward more than you ever have and you look at who else was out there that was available cuz when you look at the guys that you would need to play next to Bam it’s guys like C we guys like Thomas Bryant you know at least you know that kind of prototype seven Footers who could shoot the three and rebound and I’m looking at the other names that are out there and it’s not very inspiring in terms of other free agents it was sort of a joke when they brought back Thomas Bryan I even joked about it on Twitter but I’m looking at the other names I’m like yeah that’s kind of the best guy out there bismach bio at 31 years old like I don’t know I like him fine not not for necessarily what the heat need uh Deandre Jordan jav McGee I thought he resigned I thought DJ’s resigned yeah Denver yeah I think so so I mean like I guess like if if you were going to make a case for anybody maybe Dario sarich but I think he’s still out there as a free agent but he’s really small he can’t rebound the shooting is kind of comes and goes with him that’s okay like that’s what we’re talking about you know what I mean so it feel it’s like all right we already know this guy might as well bring him back and I think that played a role in this uh in terms of Orlando Robinson fair to say that he’s going to go ahead and get waved I don’t know if he finds an opportunity elsewhere you and I like Orlando quite a bit you know we had a great conversation with him at media Day last year but it just never really worked out for him maybe it’ll work out for him somewhere else so we’ll see what so bullish you’re so bullish like I mean he yeah less than a year yeah to like he was such a highlight of Summer League last year and like we this happens every season like I mean every year there’s a guy who who shows out in in summer league you know for not just for Miami but just for any team and and this they just wind up never manifesting and uh Orlando unfortunately like there was there was High Praise like he you know telling us in our conversation he saw himself as like the best player on the roster you know that that he he saw a bright future for him and he just he couldn’t seem to get it done and I don’t know what the expectations were from the coaching staff that they somehow couldn’t get more out of him so that he could contribute at a higher level but you know to lose his spot to Thomas Bryant to not get really many opportunities it’s just it’s very confusing I I I would love to hear that story and what happened there but I don’t think we’re ever gonna get it either from Orlando and we’re certainly not gonna get it from the heat coaching staff but like I just to to know exactly what it was that that cost him his spot on the roster because I mean you looked at you watch him play the rebounding was never there the way that you thought it would be despite the size uh he wasn’t as strong as he probably needed to be no the the knock against him coming out of college right the shooting never really came around it was never really there to begin with uh it was more theoretical than anything and the knock on him coming out of college was he was he was too slow and I don’t know that that ever really got fixed at the NBA level and it’s one thing to to play well against summer league competition it’s a whole other thing to play well against NBA competition and he got a chance he had some moments but yeah overall it just he never became like the next Omar yvan even even you know who had like some real like double double type moments in in box scores so who’s also been waved and has not signed with a team so he is a free agent who knows what his future inails he might he might wind up being in Europe you know sure um what else do we expect from the Heat this off season we’ll talk about that next year on lock down Heat thanks for making lock on heat your first listen every day make sure you’re subscribed on YouTube let us know in the comments section what you think about the addition of Alec Burks resigning Thomas Bryant your thoughts on the Heats offseason overall also follow us on your favorite podcast app hit that subscribe button if you haven’t already so a couple of other outstanding items for the Heat this offseason kalea Martin Haywood High Smith and the 14th roster spot that we assume is going to be open soon uh soon rather than later let’s start with the two free agents so Caleb Martin and the heat remain in touch uh it doesn’t look like the market that maybe Caleb Martin thought was going to be out there is out there there are still teams with the full midlevel exception $12.9 million that seems like about right for a guy like Caleb Martin maybe there’s maybe teams are just waiting it out to see who’s available or whatever it just doesn’t really feel like any team outside of the heat I’m looking across the rest of the league David like most teams are kind of doing what the heat are in terms of free agents they’re just bringing back their own guys you know I know like toian Prince moved from the Lakers to the Milwaukee Bucks but those are sort of the moves that are happening right now so if Caleb Martin’s Holding Out for this mid-level exception or whatever it is maybe that’s still out there for him I think certainly it is uh okay just to go back is Prince a better free agent acquisition for Milwaukee than Alec Burks is for Miami probably yeah so even among midling players and I hate to glabel them as such but let’s let’s be frank then uh Miami is still kind of striking out in terms of who they’re able to add to the roster um I mean we don’t know that they were trying to get tan Prince you know what I mean no no yeah certainly you know I get that I just also from a even from a players I’ve gotta sign a met Vin a vet Min in Miami as great as the city might be or a vetman in Milwaukee maybe they see Milwaukee is much closer to actual title contention than Miami and I think that’s certainly a big motivating factor yeah maybe um so we’ve or or the heat just prioritized Alec Burks and they said we need a guard we don’t really want another forward because maybe we’re still trying to get Caleb Martin or Haywood High Smith to resign fair so we’ll see what happens with Caleb Martin that that that’s that’s done he’s not coming back to Miami I feel pretty certain about that unless he really comes back with his tail between his legs you know what I mean in terms of not being able to get did he sign like a prove it deal too like a oneye pro it deal like another opportunity with the heat or with another team with Miami I guess I just I still think the money will be out there for him it might not be the full midlevel that he was trying to get but it’ll probably be more than the minimum that Miami is probably going to be able to offer him I mean they do they he do technically have his bird rights so if there’s a team out there that says we’ll give you 5 million can the Heat come back around and be like well we’ll give you five million you know I I I don’t know but I I do think that the heat tried to resign him before he opted out and maybe kind of get an extension but he bet on himself opted out of the $7.1 million and we’ll see we’ll see what happens there I mean I think the Heat and Caleb Martin are are in touch still I don’t think that they’ve stopped communicating so who knows it’s been a weird free agent market for a lot of guys you know like the money that people thought was going to be out there just really hasn’t been out there there wasn’t even a lot of money it wasn’t even a lot money teams are not even using their exceptions because of the way that it triggers aprons so teams like the heat technically have their tax pay or mid-level exception at 5 point they don’t want to use it because it triggers the first a sorry it triggers the apron so it’s ridiculous and there’s a lot of teams that are that are operating that way that don’t want to use it so we’ll see um Haywood heith also is still a free agent the heat are hopeful that they can retain him um ppei however reporting that Philadelphia has reached out and has interest in adding awward heith right yeah and the Sixers have I think I’ve seen it like seven or eight million dollars left in cap space so maybe how much of that would they allocate towards heith or even maybe somebody like Caleb Martin who I think they’ve also been in contact with so um you know I think right now Caleb Martin in is waiting out the market just to see sort of what kind of offers come up maybe he’s deciding between offers you know I never works well though that never works well especially like your best bet as a player is always almost to take that huge deal that when it’s offered like right away yeah and maybe again there were teams that were a little slower on that because they didn’t want to get assessed tampering charges and things like that but that’s usually where the bigger money comes in and then like those were the like if Isaiah hartenstein had waited one more day two more days he certainly wouldn’t have gone $87 million as good a high level free agent as he is just that money wouldn’t have been available to him sometimes it’s just you know it it just you difference somebody like hartenstein is the top Center on the market where Heywood heith was far from the top forward on the market that was sort of the the whole thing with Paul George being that first Domino it was Paul George and then it was Klay Thompson and now it’s going to be it looks like Demar de R rozan so maybe somebody like Caleb Martin just sort of has to wait this out but to your point we see this every year right somebody Waits a little bit too long to sign trying to see if there’s something better out there something shakes loose some loose change in the in the Cush or whatever it is and then you end up being the Kelly UB of last summer and you have to sign a minimum somewhere on a one-year proed contract and then UB went back and he signed it what does he make 8$9 million a year on this new deal it’s it’s a nice deal for him and I I hope that doesn’t happen to cayb but it happens every year to somebody and maybe it’s him I don’t know um could be him could be Haywood could be both the one thing with uh right and and the one thing with the heat now operating with essentially 13 roster spots understanding that Orlando Robinson’s going to get way wav before the middle of the month here they can’t bring back both right they can only they can only bring back one they could technically bring back both but the heat never carry 15 players and ba based on where they are below the second apron it’s going to basically be one player that they’re going to be able to sign here um to this last roster spot do they also are they also keeping tabs on demard De Rosen it feels like just the way that they’re sort of keeping in touch with Caleb and Haywood they’re Pro they’re keeping in touch with Demar D rozan who by the way is represented by Aaron Goodwin our old friend who also represents d Lillard um who does just a wonderful job manipulating the market so uh I I think the heater are sort of waitand sea mode with this 14th roster spot you know with and who knows what happens with demard Rosen there was some interest from the Lakers the last time we talked the Lakers have since had to commit the full sou the full Max to LeBron James so that doesn’t look like it’s an option anymore the Sacramento Kings have emerged as p as a as a potential landing spot I think they still have their full mid-level exception left something that the Heat Can’t offer I don’t know how excited deard rosan would be about signing in Sacramento he might be super excited to get $13 million from the Sacramento I have no idea um but the heat can’t match that so he would really have to want to play for the Heat or the heat would have to make some of those salary cap saving moves that we talked about yesterday which are way harder to do in practi in practice than than people think just dumping tahiro on Detroit or Utah we talked about it yesterday those teams are in draft pick acquisition mode they’re not in the business of giving away picks for good players despite how good of a fit those players might be because those teams aren’t trying to win anytime soon in Miami wouldn’t uh wave any of those existing players either like they wouldn’t wave Tyler they wouldn’t wave Duncan we seen a lot of that you could I mean even if you did it would still count against the cap unless yeah yeah it would be a smaller cap hit yeah but you do a wave at stretch or whatever it would just uh you can’t use that provision again no no so again a lot of people have suggested it like it’s just easy fix he like oh just cut them it’s like H that doesn’t necessarily give you that same amount of money back right and just to reiterate again if you didn’t listen to yesterday’s show and you don’t know what we’re talking about first of all go back and listen to yesterday’s show because it was a pretty good conversation about the state of the team and a lot of different things being discussed but those teams those options of just trading blank player on Miami’s roster into salary cap space and getting something back those aren’t realistic options like any of the team team that have whatever cap space is available might not want a Terry like if one of the cap teams is Charlotte why would they want Terry Rosier back they tried to get rid of him in the first place to Miami they were happy to do so and they cut you know they cut uh uh Kyle in order to make that happen so that’s how they have that cap space is that they they made the move in order to be where they’re at right now they don’t want Tyler hero either and and as you said earlier like attack like the idea of like oh we trade X player at the salary cap space and we get all the salary cap space back and then we get draft picks and compensations like no no no that’s not how it works if you’re trying to unload a salary from your roster you usually have to attach salary to it’s like can you please take like they did last year those other can you please take Kyle Larry off our hands because he’s not he’s not doing anything worth $30 million here’s a first round pick to grease that wheel well you also was your back so that wasn’t like a that was that was a positional upgrade but to your point the Jazz and the Pistons aren’t dumb they don’t operate under a rock and not understanding what the rest of the landscape of the NBA is they know that they would have leverage over the heat if the heat are desperately trying to get off of one of these salaries they’re the team with the leverage they said you want our cap space well then we’re not trading a first round pick for your player you’re trading us stuff to take your to take your player and that’s just a really tough place for the heat to be in and this is and so yeah it might work on your trade machine and stuff cuz people are still like well I think the Jazz would take Tyler hero it’s like cool that you think that I really don’t think Danny a thinks that and he’s the one running the show over there and if anybody knows how to use leverage it’s guys like Danny an and Pat Riley and these guys that have been around forever in the league doing these kinds of things so and and and like I said the Pistons aren’t interested right now in in shelling out $30 million a year to Tyler hero I don’t think that that that’s what they want to do they’re not in that stage in their life cycle they’re still bad and plan on being bad probably for a couple of years here so and and by the the way they’ve traded away a bunch of their future first round picks so they need to add more picks they’re not in the business of giving away their picks when they’re looking for big swings H they did sign Tobias Harris well you gotta do something with your cap space I guess I think that’s sort of like hey guy that’s been around teach the young guys what it means to win question always a good locker room guy always a good locker room um so that’s where that’s where we’re at on that who knows so we’ll keep tabs on heith Caleb demard D rozan the other option here with that 14th roster spot this would not surprise me at all if it goes to neither of those three names and the heat end up waving Orlando Robinson and then signing somebody else to that 14th spot to a non- guaranteed deal the way they did with Drew Smith last year so that they can have the option to wave that player in February and then use that spot on somebody that gets bought out midseason and the he so the he’ have done that before it would not surprise me if they did that again if you saw like alandis Williams on a non-g guaranteed standard roster spot you know what I mean who else is left is there another name that’s like a a person who might be a vet minum other than Demar de Roan Etc I was looking at it not really at the veteran minimum not really Char yeah it’s like kind of you know so that’s why this team is running it back I’m looking around like there’s who that teams Mario honia maybe the Heat sign Mario honia maybe that’s where this all ends up uh former lottery pick Mario Z onia that’ll do it for us today thanks for making lock on heat Signing Alec could be worse. It could have been Doris.
Burks is a streaky shooter.
i'll just say it… the heat are done…
Really like this pickup he'll have more impact than Caleb loves that corner three
Who the hell is this? Riley needs to retire if this is the best he can do. Wtf
if we can dodge the celtics we maybe hit ecf but definitely not contender
Really Alec Burk’s why not Derozan
I dont know what's tougher, monitoring the Heat's free agent moves or watching David and Wes talk about the Heat free agents 😂😂😂😂😂
Someone wake The Fraudfather from his nap‼️‼️‼️
Thomas Bryant should have let walk. Give those minutes to Ware.
Burks was clutch for the Knicks though in the postseason but we don’t need more grit guys. We need someone who can score at multi levels.
Herro/Duncan trade is imminent. We legit have seen the Jimmy/Bam/Herro team and that’s not making it out the first round.
We probably couldn’t beat Orlando in a series right now unless we get a capable scorer next to Jimmy.
Fuck it give me Lavine for Herro. Clearly they just in rebuild after that Carouso trade
i guess no one saw burks on the pistons during their streak …
Bill Simmons ranks Heat 13
Heat only have 1 star in Bam
jimmy is washed per Simmons
The things David sticks his nose up at vs the things he defends is hard to believe.
DSJ for the Minimum.
Dipo for the Minimum.
GREAT pick up. For a team who was dead last in scoring last season, we need a legit bucket getter off the bench.
Alec Burks a nice back up. Let's see if we are able to make a trade for Derozan
Not excited about Alec Burks. Caleb Martin should be resigned for the purpose of a sign and trade deal with the Cavaliers. Gut feeling, Riley might be still negotiating the Cavalier’s first trade package to acquire him
It's shocking that David would prefer Swider to Burks. Burks is a better/more consistent shooter than anyone we have (I'm sad to say) I am afraid that Burks will ball out and this upcoming summer the Heat out of desperation would give him a massive deal like they did James Johnson, Philly Cheese, Tyler Johnson, etc.
I don't understand why Burks. Sorry, never had any love for his game. I don't know what the team is going for this off season. Still hoping De Rozan is going to work out but I'm still not confident in the roster the way it is now.
Dru Smith. 🤣😂
David is pooping all over Alec Burke, I bet you, Alec Burke does way more than Patty Mills
You heat fans don’t deserve Burkin bag. Aka Alec MJ Burks.
My Knicks fumbled on this one
Better than Patty Mills….. That is the bar to get over.
Trade David Ramil
Run it back!!
He played his ass off in the playoffs last years
David is wrong man L take
You keep saying Bryant is 7ft tall and he isn’t 🤣 he’s 6’9 and listed at 6”10.
Was drew eubanks not attainable??
Don't think I've ever seen David so down
Great pickup. For the minimum? Great signing. Look, people who are mad at the front office just don't get or refuse to remember how Miami got here. Decisions were made. Draft picks were given away. No cap space. It is what it is. Miami needs to reset with their young core. The dumbasses out there who say the FO is "asleep" just don't understand why Miami is stuck. You don't think they want to get top talent? You don't think they plan these things out? No, some of you don't because you don't understand how things work. You're spoiled. This franchise is top tier, and just like with other top tier franchises, sometimes you have to start over… and Miami is entering that new phase and it's great. Awesome young talented core. Trade Jimmy now (latest February) and get something in return while he still has value.
At this point, I think our best option besides blowing it up, is trading Tyler for Bruce Brown.
Toronto is simply not going to get a better offer for a 1 year rental. We get a point of attack defender on a chunky expiring contract.
I won’t love our chances, but I’ll be ok enough with them to want to tune in this year. If Niko and Jaime take a big enough leap, and Ware hits the ground running, they could make another respectable run. Especially if we can get Highsmith back.
Not excited about burks but between him and patty at this point I’ll take burks
I think you’re undermining the add of Alec Burks big time. He can score and defend. Hes not just some guy. He’s the equivalent of Caleb Martin and much better than Highsmith. We got him for the veteran minimum
You guys suck. You guys think everyone else and every other player out there are better than any of the heat players
