[Tony Jones] – The spurs, warriors and kings all have substantial offers out for Lauri markkanen

Utah beat writer not sure how reliable he is

Maybe a jazz fan can chime in

Personally love to see him
Go to kings

But spurs make most sense future wise but warriors make sense short term for him

Danny ainge gotta bidding war going, gonna be a lot picks involved

Excited to see outcome

He’s the most reliable Jazz reporter

  2. happyhappy7

Spurs getting Lauri would be seriously interesting

  3. BigButter7

So, to the fans whose teams been often mentioned in the Lauri sweepstakes, what’s the most you’re willing to offer for him?

  4. mMounirM

I’m surprised the Spurs already put in a substantial offer.

I’m guessing they don’t feel like they have to tank for the 2025 draft since Wemby is a super mega 1st option player already this upcoming season.

  5. IncaseAce

i dont get why utah would just take more picks

They gotta get Kuminga or Keegan in any of these deals, otherwise ,I just dont get it

  6. herbjonesmybeloved

ainge doing ainge things again, cashing out at the moment teams (warriors) are panicking. gonna get a huge haul

  7. whyte_ryce

Basically Ainge is seeing if Sacramento blinks first with Keegan or GS with Kuminga

The most reliable Jazz beat reporter.

That said, he and a couple of others have also said that the current offers aren’t actually that close to getting anything done. So substantial =/= close to Ainges price.

  9. BlackBullZWarrior

The Spurs don’t seem to be on an urgent timeline. Why give up what would be needed for him?

  10. Ilikesporks_

i still don’t think the spurs are trying to get him tbh

  11. Diamond4Hands4Ever

Why isn’t OKC proposing a trade.

  12. Jack_The_Sparrow_

I’m going to give the most unbiased take and say the Warriors should get him

  13. callmearookie

I’m fine, I just hope we don’t overpay because while I like Lauri, he’s a bit past our timeline, he’s a bit injury prone, and while being a good player, he’s a low end All-Star and on an Expiring Deal.

I would start with Keldon Johnson, Zach Collins, Branham and/or Wesley, 2025 Chicago Pick, 2031 Minnesota Pick, 2030 Minnesota Swap. Then I would be fine adding a mix of like Tre Jones, the 2027 Atlanta Pick, the 2026 Atlanta Swap, the 2025 Charlotte Pick (basically 2nds tho), the 2030 Dallas Swap, the 2028 Celtics Swap. I wouldn’t touch any of Castle, Vassell, Sochan. (no wemby obv)

Lauri on his extension is not gonna be looked on nearly as fondly as he is right now

So while the price for him is high, it won’t be as high as it was for bridges.

  15. Easy-Philosopher-562

Spurs actually going for Markkanen is super interesting. They must think he’s a talent worth dumping their extra picks for.

And he kinda is the perfect 4 to be next to Wemby. Spurs would have a solid 3 scorers with Wemby, Lauri, and Vassel.

  16. m__surly

Going to be real mad if spurs sell the farm

  17. Bonesawisready5

So long as it isn’t more than Keldon, and maybe 3-4 1sts I am fine with it, ideally not 2025 picks

  18. LudicrousMoon

Next years draft is an all timer Spurs should tank next season and then go all in

  19. Dawg the spurs already have CP3 to mentor castle and wmby, you give that team Lauri and they WILL shock people in the season

  20. Nodecafallowed

I think the warriors have the same chances with lavine/podz/kuminga as they would with just Lauri and they’d keep all their picks.

  21. Bonesawisready5

Keldon Johnson, Malakai Branham, 2025 Bulls, 2027 Spurs, 2028 Bostons, 2030 Mavs and 2030 Wolves enough? I doubt warriors trade Kuminga or Kings trade Murray

  22. MAKExITxBLEED

Lauri overhyped imo – not the most durable and unproven in the playoffs. A nice player for sure but probably the 3rd best player on a championship team.

  23. Andy_Wiggins

Why is always the fucking West.

Just once can’t an East team make a big offer?

  24. -Darkslayer

Add Lauri to the Warriors and they are legit again. Do it for maximum chaos out West Ainge.

  25. LaGuadalupana123

Man, this is why i hated trading the 8th overall for some kid barely older than my 7 year old. Shouldve traded the 8th overall + picks for lauri. We had the space, FAs arent exactly dying to come here and him next to wemby is a very good duo.

  26. ariasimmortal

Tony also posted today that 1) the Jazz don’t want to trade Lauri and 2) Lauri doesn’t want to be traded and is on board with their long term plan.

Also posted that he doesn’t think the Jazz are interested in trading Kessler.

Unless these teams are going to blow away the Jazz with an offer – which they seem unwilling to do – nothing is going to happen. Maybe they’ll up their offers as we get closer to his extend date in August.

  27. Why would we not wait for another year to use our assets I don’t get it.

  28. FireBeeChin

I just don’t believe spurs would seriously trade for him. It’s 1 season too early with the 2025 draft coming up; pretty sure we’re just being used as leverage
