the NBA he’s a student of the of the game to say the least uh and to watch the things that are going on in the offseason David it’s uh it’s quite wild and especially when you see all the rumors and I don’t even know what to make of them because I always feel like everyone’s just lying to us anyway not just in in during draft time but also in free agency I don’t know everybody said Philadelphia clear cby so they could get Paul George and then they went and did it so um you know and everyone said the warriors were going to keep Klay Thompson I I don’t I think that there’s I don’t know who’s lying lying these days I think uh I think there’s just a lot of you can deduce a lot of what’s taking place and there’s a lot of there’s a lot of news out there but I think you know what I’m not not sure anything’s happened that was not at least kind of that’s of magnitude that wasn’t at least a possibility I mean the Klay Thompson stories was really evident all year and we played we played Golden State in their last regular season game and there was I think if I remember you know they had the playoffs still coming but there was there was a little question of whether that was the last regular season game you’re ever going to have the Splash Brothers together I think I mentioned it on the broadcast um and so that’s happened um but the the league is is there’s there’s change and it’s wild and there shuffling and sometimes the most important moves Isaiah harinstein from New York to Oklahoma City that that might be the most important move that’s actually taken place because New York seemed to be right on the edge of being able to compete with with Boston and now they’re short of piece and Oklahoma City solidified it probably the number one seed in the west now I think that the V the Vegas odds you know take what we will with this right but the Vegas odds right now have the most likely match up for next year’s NBA Finals as the 76ers in the Thunder the Thunder yes I like Vegas does a lot of things to try to get you to kind of go over there and move your money around but I thought thought it was a wild thought to be like hey this is your likely your match up for next year and I I don’t know I don’t know why they would go that direction but I mean obviously the 76ers did a lot to to bolster who they are in the in the East but I I mean obviously the the uh I we were talking with somebody yesterday who said the person who we were asking who made the best moves during this uh during all this to to kind of make their roster and make a move he goes you know I know this sounds boring but actually it’s the Boston Celtics according to him and I I don’t know do you agree as to what the East still looks like and and the and the Celtics being the favorite out there no I mean they lost Chris Chris porzingis is out for like six to eight months like that’s a big injury and who knows when he’s going to be able to play so and they don’t have great depth um they’re pretty good without him but I’m just surprised that Philadelphia would be the odds on favorite um but you know you need a top 10 a top 20 a top 50 player to win a title uh they have a top 10 and two top 20s so they they have all the makings of what you need win an NBA title let’s the top three players on Philadelphia are probably as good as the top three players on any team in the NBA I don’t know who you think the third best player in Boston is they’re they have five or six that are absolutely fabulous um but the the top three players in Philadelphia are the best you know Austin Reeves is not anywhere near you got LeBron at probably Anthony daav probably top 10 LeBron’s probably top 20 at this point but but Philadelphia’s got youw and be who you know when he’s healthy is the most dominant player in all the NBA I know yic is the MVP but when Joel and P’s right he’s he’s the most Unstoppable player in the league and Paul George is maybe still one of the best two-way players in the NBA and Tyrese Maxi had a hell of a year last year so you know it’s not crazy um I’m just a little surprised that they’re ahead of auson talk excuse me David talking about moves uh being made and and being a little surprised I was a little surprised when I saw Donovan signing a three-year extension with the Cavs yesterday seen that that report come out what are your thoughts on that was that a bit of a shock to you did you I mean I just kind of felt like okay Donovan he’s gonna wait for free agency and and try his chances at going back to Brooklyn or New York it’s hard to pass $150 million is it that’s true that’s very true somebody’s got it in hand yeah right and he’s and it’s if I think I have it right it’s a two-year deal with the player option for the third oh I didn’t see if it was I didn’t see what the I thought it was three with the player option for that’s probably what it is so I mean if it’s a 2 plus one and it is an extension you know there’s a real strong feeling in the league to De side and it’s going to act out okay I mean that’s that’s the feeling around the league I don’t know if that’s fair or accurate but from Cleveland standpoint it’s still a mammoth win because even if he opts out now they get they can make the trade and get the pieces for him um so it’s a huge win for give give p credit they got there that their worst case scenario was that they that he held them hostage and opted out and they had nowhere to go um so it’s you know but and now if they have to move him they’ll be able to get a lot for him so it’s a good win for Cleveland I I would agree with you I’m a little surprised on the other and then I saw the numbers I was like yeah I’m not surprised like walking away from 150 yeah and it is a two plus one that’s right uh you know I was I I listened to your podcast today because you know the the idea of the big game hunting is still kind of part of the you know it’s part of that conver ation and that’s exactly what you talked about today because they names that have been floating around of the possibility now if you’re a fan of a team people just go oh that’d be night hey look go and get that guy and that’s one thing to say it and it’s another to try to actually do it but there’s also one where you’re a fan of a team and and Larry Marin’s name was always like well no that’s the guy you keep here but but obviously if the deal is right you absolutely would listen to anything and you’d be dumb not to so when you hear the rumors of like the Warriors for example like they’re the ones making big push for to get a guy like Lowry Markin and does that surprise you or is it one of those things where you go no that’s just kind of that it’s that it’s kind of a n not really or what do you think the thoughts are on having Lowry leave town uh or or keeping him here which one you think’s more likely well there’s nothing that surprises me that people want Lowry marketing 97 foot1 is 240 pounds took the most catch and shoot threes of anyone in the NBA he made 41.7% of them there’s only three players in the NBA that took five catch and shoot threes and made a better percentage there’s Steph Curry Malik Beasley and Sam Hower right this is like a 7 foot one dude is the best catch and shoot guy in the NBA like there’s nothing about you know any 71 and he can put it on the deck and he’s powerful at The Rim there’s nothing that surprises me that players that people want Lowry marke and the dude is an absolute stud and so the for the Warriors who just lost one of the great catch and shoot guys of all time it seems like or you know at least part of that dynasty of it that seems obviously very very appealing to them too Lowry Markin top 25 player in the NBA he’s appealing everyone I mean he and and couple with the fact that he can like he fits perfectly on every roster you you run down the best players in the NBA like they don’t all fit perfectly on every roster like Luca wouldn’t fit in Philadelphia right because Joel and be’s there so you know and luuka needs to be what Luca is now Luca is great like I would take Luca and trade every asset and every player in the world to get him um and maybe y is the player that everyone can just play with um but you know Giannis takes unique players to play around him Lowry marinin can assimilate into any roster with any player on any team he can do everything the only thing Lowry can’t quite do is get the ball at 15 feet on the nail and guarantee yourself a bucket the way Kevin Durant can late in the ball game so that’s probably you know so then he really compliments everyone because you know maybe he’s not going to always demand a shot late in the game and if you’re playing off of him and you kick to it somebody comes off of him you kick to him well you’re dead because he he’s going to make that shot so I mean he’s just a fabulous fabulous basketball player there’s no surprise to me that he’s under high demand David we got summer league right around the corner uh you look at the roster of the guys expected to participate and it looks like it’s going to be pretty fun to watch this year and and not every year you can say that about summer league basketball but I think this Jazz a lot of the young Talent that’s going to be out there it’s going to be fun to kind of get a first Glimpse at some and a second Glimpse at others what do you think jazz fan should be expecting from uh summer league this this time around I’m going to throw a really wild curveball at you Sam that you’re not expecting here but this was the thought I had when I looked at the roster hey I think that keonte George and uh Cody Williams and Isaiah CER and Bryce sensal are all gonna have nice careers okay Jason Preston will be so much better than all of them in summer league W because he’s played in the league for longer and gets it like he’s he didn’t get to play a lot in the Clippers and he had some injuries and never got a chance and he played a ton of G league but like I I just watch him like I’ll bet he has I’ll bet when he’s on the floor in games we outscore Everybody by a ton okay he passes he moves the ball he plays the game right he’s not you know I’m not saying he’s like about to become these other guys have better NBA the other four guys have NBA careers with much higher ceilings than anything that Jason Preston’s ever going to do but in a summer league setting when Jason Preston plays the game right it’s going to really matter I’m super curious to see what Shawn Sheldon does for a starting lineup because I think I would start Jason Preston at the one and play Keon at the two now I don’t know how s fits into that and you’re playing like I would let Keon play off the ball after playing the whole year on the ball and see what we got um because I just think Jason Preston who you know was a walking triple double in the G league is a beautiful smart I loved him out of college out of Ohio too player who understands how to play the game right structure things get you into sets make the right reads make the right pass set the tempo correctly push the game when he needs to and I think it’s going to be really obvious I think he’s in his if I’ve got it right he’s probably draft class you know he’s two years of three years out of his draft class really has not gotten a chance yet I think that’s going to be a really big obvious difference to everybody else out there on on a pretty high quality player thir point guard this year if he’s our third point guard this year I’d be perfectly pleased with that I think he’s a really nice player you always talk about that how these guys you know when we talk about the draft how amazing you know these talents could be and then there’s the guys who you just have been in the league and even if they’re roster guys farther down the bench they’ll toast these these younger kids just because it’s been they just have that experience of being on NBA roster which is freaking hard to do was there anybody who shocked you being on the uh I I thought it was I thought it was interesting that that Walker was on the this year’s uh summer league and going into his third year what do you think they expect out of him in the in the summer league and what they want to see I’ll be curious see how much he plays I’m you know I’ve been a little surprised with the will told us that he would be in the summer league from the um from the exit interview so in that sense it wasn’t surprising um I’m just excited for everyone to get a fresh start I just nothing went right for Walker last year uh from the injury early on you know you’re not it’s not traditional that you end up on the bench after an injury and I think that derailed him a little bit um and then he just didn’t have his usual zest and I think he got caught in between where he fit on the roster it just wasn’t a great year and it’s not uncommon for someone to have a really good first year and then the second year is either the same or not as good that’s just not surprising at all and you come you know the way I always way I’ve been told by players is so the first year is just a blur because you come out of the draft you go right to Summer League you go and you like you literally finish your college in a March April you’re immediately on the workout circuit you get drafted in June you’re in a new city that you now live in you do that in July you finish with that by Late July you’re probably going to be it’s August one and all of a sudden really by like August 15th you’re kind of expected to be in the town of the city you’re going to live in is the runs stop for all the college runs stop and by Labor Day all the veterans are in because all the runs have stopped because the college kids are in and you just don’t even believe you’re just like you never get a chance to breathe you get zero chance to stop and understand what’s going on then you play your fresh your first year in the NBA and you get your ass kicked in all sorts of different ways and you come back and in the offseason what you do is you work on all the areas where you weren’t good enough so in this case Walker it’s probably post moves and three-point shooting and hitting some mid-range jumpers and you come back and you know what you work on all those things guess what you still get your ass kicked out of and then you come back in between your second and third year you go work on the things that you’re going to be good at in the NBA you realize oh wait I’m not going to be good at everything anymore I’m not in high school I’m not in college there I’ve got to figure out what things I can do in this league and what those things are that are going to get me on the court and you go back in between your second and third year and you go work on the things that you can do so you know what quick release offensive rebound back up and in you know various work on coming in Moving On The Run from the dunker spot and catching and finishing slicing off the corner um playing off a slice and catching on the move and finishing you know you suddenly work on a collection of skills that are maybe they’re mundane and they’re not nearly as exciting as you know the one that you were going to put together so you could be a 24o 15 rebound seven block shot guy but you’re not going to do that because it’s the NBA but it’s great that you believed it for a little while but now it’s time to actually figure out what you can do in a league and that’s why guys have a breakout year between their third and their fourth years in the NBA yeah if you can do a couple of skill sets better than 99.5% of the world world you’re going to have a job in the NBA that’s for sure yeah find those two things and uh or or a couple of things and keep working at those yeah uh so I like to pull out the crystal ball a little bit here David and I’d like to get your take on this uh it’s been a question I’ve been asking a lot of people just for for fun since the draft in two three five years I don’t know lay the timeline out from now when we look back at last year’s draft class class of Hendrick George and sah and this year’s Williams Coler and filipowski who do you which class do you think uh we’re going to look back on and be like yeah that was the that was the one I mean the easy answer is two picks in the top 16 or better than three picks in the top 32 yeah so it better be keontay George and Taylor Hendricks okay if it’s not Keon George and Taylor Hendrick we have a problem yeah said they were both top 10 worthy yeah I think Cody Williams that both Isaiah and Cody Williams are top 10 Worthy no that that last year after last year’s draft that Hendricks and George he he said he had them both top 10 so yeah yeah I mean the Jazz had call you’re higher than 29 but they didn’t have in the top 10 I don’t think right sure um so I think they had them both in probably top 15 um or so yeah I I I would hope it’s Taylor Hendricks and keonte George particularly because Taylor also has the best body and measurables of anyone and the best athleticism of anyone uh Taylor better be the best player of the group group yeah and then hope you know I mean like it better it better go in draft order Cody’s got a chance Cody’s Cody’s got all the pieces underneath that you know I’ve use this analogy a lot but there’s like and it’s probably because I went to into Florence a year ago and saw the mik the David and it’s one of the most incredible moments of my life so it’s hard to like get that out of your head but like there’s this incredible quote by Michelangelo that I didn’t do anything the David was inside the stone I just had to find it well that’s a little bit of where Cody Williams is right now like it’s all there like every single piece of the puzzle is there he just going to have to go find it um you know interesting little note um Cody Williams and now I think everyone was probably lying in different ways but Cody Williams brother and that was the coolest thing ever that he was there he’d like to stay in Utah and play here for the rest of his life I’d like him to stay um I’m a huge fan I think he’s the next Jaylen Brunson Shay gild just Alexander star in this league um but um his measurement as a freshman at Colorado I mean freshman at Santa Clara was I think 661 190 so they were lying because he’s like 64 and a half and Cody’s was 6768 190 now Jaylen Williams is now 211 the truth is that Cody measured 178 at the combine not 190 so we were people somebody was fibbing somewhere but the point of this is the Jaylen Williams has added 21 pounds on a smaller height maybe a different frame since his freshman year of college Cody William you to Cody Williams and jayen Williams dad yesterday Cody Williams could add 21 pounds and then let’s say he is 178 then he’s 68200 and and he’s he’s really that’s that’s perfect and with a seven Wing spin like that’s a perfect Player NBA trainers n amazing things yeah when you get real nutrition look I know colleges like Pride themselves on having a nutrition program but it doesn’t hold scandle of what these NBA teams are doing so it’s I mean the Jazz the Jazz Chef program led by a is as good as any of the NBA is not better that’s pretty darn good uh David we’ve just been uh it’s just it’s been so much fun over the past week to to hear the breakdowns and to get your thoughts on all these guys and so it’s really fun going into another summer league next week Monday Tuesday Wednesday we’re really looking forward to it man thanks for hanging out with us today thanks will be fun I’m just G to find I’m have a junkie to fly down to Vegas so I can see two more games I think I’m GNA have to do that I bet you I bet know that that that Danny a said he’d want to go big game hunting with uh with these players that are out there available and lock things that there are still or some I will say I do not like the idea of Kawhi Leonard yeah as being one of those guys you want to trade for it’s like I I it’s like do you want just feels like a win now guy right I don’t know if the Jazz are there yet I mean hey David knows the Jazz better than almost anyone though what an electric personality kawh Leonard is H and look what I’ll tell you what I summer league is fun I I’ve always been a big F because it seems like that’s you know Keon kind of blew up last year at Summer League we all we go back to the Donovan year when he blew up in summer league right there’s always somethingone to get excited about Jason Preston not a guy I would have I would have guessed but David says to keep an eye on him in Summer League this year he could really do some flashy things all right Let’s uh take a break let’s jump out some time to work on things like this where we’ve worked out he worked out if there were a possible expansion his whole argument is in the NFL the expansion would be don’t go two three four teams expand it to 100 teams you heard right you know what that means Utah would definitely find find its way into a uh it would find itself into a a a system for sure but so would Rockford Illinois Fort Wayne Indiana Louisville Kentucky uh witch talk Kansas de Mo Iowa so don’t get your don’t start to feel like we’re amazing but here’s what they have in the west so far teams that already exist in the what they call the Mountain West uh Salt Lake City boisey oh laramy Wyoming see that just takes all the fun out of it doesn’t it Boseman Montana sou Fall South Dakota bismar North Dakota Fargo North Dakota Yes you heard right so these are all different now he did say that Salt Lake City would be the obvious choice because it already has uh professional sports teams including the Jazz and the Utah Hockey Club yes they included them in the article but an N NFL size Stadium uh wouldn’t be trouble I don’t think you’d have trouble filming The Stance I just think it you’re about 10 or 15 years too early based on our population and how things are going to go I think that we’re going to get a major league baseball team here in the next 10 to 12 years and if that’s the case then we’re basically that one I mean just showing up and showing out on the Utah Hockey Club and on a baseball team then there you go because their whole thing is well do you have 880,000 do you have uh 80,000 seats you could sell out in a in a home game and they put probably not and I disagree with that I know that there’s the hang-up of whether or not you know uton would come out on Sundays for football games I I just think that you’re going to be less worried about that in 10 or 15 years uh because you’re going to have a population that would absolutely support uh an NFL team now my Seahawks would be joined in the Northwest by Portland Oregon makes sense right although uh arguments could be made for reasons not to take anything to Portland and then Spokane Washington now that’s a big stretch I think the biggest stretch on all of these how about a Bakersfield how about a Bakersfield NFL team how about an Anchorage Alaska NFL team right how about a Mobile Alabama NFL team now here’s what’s interesting about that they’ve got their colleges and could they have a uh could they have a a spot where you could basically uh put those teams and have it be worthwhile have it be worth something going forward I just think that it’s I think it’s an interesting Prospect my thing is is that a 100 team just kind of throw a bunch of cities out there and make your region of the country feel good about it isn’t a good way to do it the model that you have to follow is if Utah will indeed follow the population uh estimates over the next 15 years what you’re going to get is the 12th most populated state in the country which means that this Salt Lake Metro Area you heard me say it Salt Lake Metro Area would be along the lines of like that four to five million people or or 5 to 7 million people just in the main area of you know Ogden to Provo and then you would have definitely more than enough room to have a stadium uh water is a question mark but that that’s secondary come on get an NFL team here and then we’ll figure out how to steal the water back from California that’s all I’m saying uh next up on the NFL on the NFL Blitz the new Packers running back Josh Jacobs says that Jordan love is going to be the next Superstar quarterback and I don’t disagree with him necessarily I don’t know what he means about Superstar quarterback I bet Superstar quarterback for Green Bay that works but when you say Superstar quarterback is he talking about the next Pat Mahomes you got to have a lot of other pieces in place uh is he talking about like a I I don’t know I don’t know what his version of Superstar is because if you’re going to say he’s going to be the next Patrick Mahomes or you know you’re asking a lot because they have a Hall of Fame quarterback who was there already and he brought one Championship to the city in the 15 years that he was there and he was phenomenal he won multiple MVP awards in the league Aaron Rogers did but he only won one Super Bowl during that time it was a long time ago 14 years ago now at this point that’s crazy uh all right the Giants general manager says that Patrick Mahomes couldn’t win with uh with their team’s o line in 2023 he said Daniel Jones didn’t have a chance even Patrick Mahomes wouldn’t win with this o line that they had in 2023 now listen Patrick Mahomes they had a decent offensive line last year but he’s had bad offensive lines before and he’s gotten him to the playoffs he’s gotten him to the Super Bowl this is their third Super Bowl they’ve just won and they just kind of came around to having a really really good offensive line so false if you want to say that if you’re if you’re basically calling out the offensive line fine you want to go that route fine but that’s a real Jets move Giants let the Jets be the Jets there in New York and let that let you guys be like kind of the the grown-up mature franchise if you can handle that then we’d all be okay with it uh and then finally oh I’ve got two more things for you ready for this there is going to be a Hallmark Christmas movie that will be centered around the Kansas City Chiefs and a love story with a pop star and a star tight end now I don’t know if they’re going to be able to have the rights to any of these things it might just be a generic Midwestern red and gold team that they’re going to have to kind of build this around but yes it’s a Christmas themed movie Holiday touchdown a love story will begin production next month in Kansas City you heard right so this is ridiculous in Holiday touchdown a love story Alana Higman is sure that her family’s lifelong sto lifelong history is Kansas City chief super fans make them his front Runners to win the team’s fan of the Year contest Derek Hines uh is tasked with evaluating how Alana and her family stack up against the other two finalists as the pair spends time together it’s clear that there’s a spark between them and this has nothing to do with the it’s just centered around a team I for sure but so would Rockford Illinoi Fort Wayne Indiana Louisville Kentucky uh Witchita Kansas de Mo Iowa so don’t get your don’t start to feel like we’re amazing but here’s what they have in the west so far teams that already exist in the what they call the Mountain West uh Salt Lake City boisey oh laramy Wyoming see that just takes all the fun out of it doesn’t it Boseman Montana sou Fall South Dakota bismar North Dakota Fargo North Dakota Yes you heard right so these are all different now he did say that Salt Lake City would be the obvious choice because it already has uh professional sports teams including the Jazz and the Utah Hockey Club yes they included them in the article but an N NFL size Stadium uh wouldn’t be trouble I don’t think you’d have trouble filming The Stance yeah I just think it you’re about 10 or 15 years too early based on our population and how things are going to go I think that we’re going to get a major league baseball team here in the next 10 to 12 years and if that’s the case then we’re basically that one I mean just showing up and showing out on the Utah Hockey Club and on a baseball team then there you go because their whole thing is well do you have 80,000 do you have uh 80,000 seats you could sell out in a in a home game and they put probably not and I disagree with that I know that there’s the hang-up of whether or not you know utans would come out on Sundays for football games I I just think that you’re going to be less worried about that in 10 or 15 years uh because you’re going to have a population that would absolutely support uh an NFL team now my Seahawks would be joined in the Northwest by Portland Oregon makes sense right although uh arguments could be made for reasons not to take anything to Portland and then Spokane Washington now that’s a big stretch I think the biggest stretch on all of these how about a Bakers field how about a Bakersfield NFL team how about an Anchorage Alaska NFL team right how about a Mobile Alabama NFL team now here’s what’s interesting about that they’ve got their colleges and could they have a uh could they have a a spot where you could basically uh put those teams and have it be worthwhile have it be worth something going going forward I just think that it’s I think it’s an interesting Prospect my thing is is that a 100 team just kind of throw a bunch of cities out there and make your region of the country feel good about it isn’t a good way to do it the model that you have to follow is if Utah will indeed follow the population uh estimates over the next 15 years what you’re going to get is the 12th most populated state in the country which means that this Salt Lake Metro Area you heard me say it Salt Lake Metro area would be along the lines of like that four to five million people or or five to seven million people just in the main area of you know Ogden to Provo and then you would have definitely more than enough room to have a stadium uh water is a question mark but that that’s secondary come on get an NFL team here and then we’ll figure out how to steal the water back from California that’s all I’m saying uh next up on the NFL on the NFL Blitz the new running back Josh Jacobs says that Jordan love is going to be the next Superstar quarterback and I don’t disagree with him necessarily I don’t know what he means about Superstar quarterback I bet Superstar quarterback for Green Bay that works but when you say Superstar quarterback is he talking about the next Pat momes you got to have a lot of other pieces in place uh is he talking about like a I I don’t know I don’t know what his version of Superstar is because if you’re going to say he’s going to be the next Patrick Mahomes or you know you’re asking a lot because they have a Hall of Fame quarterback who was there already and he brought one Championship to the city in the 15 years that he was there and he was phenomenal he won multiple MVP awards in the league Aaron Rogers did but he only won one Super Bowl during that time it was a long time ago 14 years ago now at this point that’s crazy uh all right the Giants general manager says that Patrick Mahomes couldn’t win with uh with their teams Z line in 2023 he said Daniel Jones didn’t have a chance even Patrick Mahomes wouldn’t win with this old line that they had in 2023 now listen Patrick Mahomes they had a decent offensive line last year but he’s had bad offensive lines before and he’s gotten him to the playoffs he’s gotten him to the Super Bowl this is their third Super Bowl they’ve just won and they just kind of came around to having a really really good offensive line so false if you want to say that if you’re if you’re basically calling out the offensive line fine you want to go that route fine but that’s a real Jets move Giants let the Jets be the Jets there in New York and let that let you guys be like kind of the the grown-up mature franchise if you can handle that then we’d all be okay with it uh and then finally oh I’ve got two more things for you ready for this there is going to be a Hallmark Christmas movie that will be centered around the Kansas City Chiefs and a love story with a pop star and a star tight end now I don’t know if they’re going to be able to have the rights to any of these things it might just be a generic Midwestern red and gold team that they’re going to have to kind of build this around but yes it’s a Christmas themed movie Holiday touchdown a love story will begin production next month in Kansas City you heard right so this is ridiculous in Holiday touchdown a love story Alana Higman is sure that her family’s lifelong sto lifelong history as Kansas City chief super fans make them as Front Runners to win the team’s of the Year contest Derek Hines uh is tasked with evaluating how Alana and her family stack up against the other two finalists as the pair spends time together it’s clear that there’s a spark between them and this has nothing to do because Lincoln Riley will find a way to squander it or hire bad coaches to surround himself with and there you go I know you’re a brilliant offensive mind uh but how about just a brilliant overall coach I don’t think we’ve been sold on it but the athletic director at Oklahoma uh made sure to fire a shot across the B there’s the same athletic director that said hey man they he still owes us he still owes us these shoes remember the uh the the oak Oklahoma Jordan branded uh sneakers that that Lincoln Riley had Oklahoma was like give those back he said he wasn’t going to and I don’t think he did I think it was kind of interesting but Oklahoma athletic director Joe cast cleone said uh yes I’ll tell you without reservation that every coach that we’ve talked to is excited and you know what the ones that aren’t excited or that weren’t excited about this move to the SEC from the Big 12 is not there anymore quote we don’t have room for guys like that who aren’t interested in getting bigger and growing and winning so there you go took a shot at the co at the people who allegedly didn’t want to be there anymore and that person was of course uh Lincoln Riley anytime we can take a shot at Lincoln Riley I know he’s not in the Pack 12 anymore he’s not playing Utah every year like he had been over the last little while and uh but we’ll still take our shots why not uh USC I can’t wait for them to have losing Seasons uh for the foreseeable future I don’t know when they’re going to I don’t know when they’re going to be good again I don’t know you lose Caleb Williams and uh we’ll see what happens uh the worst of the day let me revisit the bronny James fouryear guaranteed deal now what really sucks about this is that every if you if you’re Dalton connect which by the way it’s probably okay if you’re Doon connect you probably are all right with all the attention his family is probably just thinking it’s hilarious they’re like dude they’re not even talking about you it’s talking about the number 55 overall pick and I will say that here’s the big the biggest insult if I’m Dalton connect because the Lakers when they signed LeBron James Jr when they signed bronny James to a four-year guaranteed contract of $8 million they gave him a longer guaranteed contract than they gave the number 17 overall first round pick that the Lakers picked up in Dalton connect from Tennessee who by the way scored 22 points a game I know he’s a little bit older I know he wasn’t uh you know one of these guys that he’s kind of this well is he going to hit is he going to miss well as a 17th overall pick I’ll tell you what you get you get a prescribed amount of money that is that that rookie scale kind of brings you and in that case it’s about 3.7 and $4.1 million for the first two years so you know don’t weep for Dalton connect because then the option year they have the third year that’s the team option year uh and he’ll likely be on the team still and they’ll extend him and that’s great he’ll earn more money than Brony James I it’s fine but the insulting part is is that Brony James has quot quote earned that four-year deal which is more than the 23-year-old Dalton connect has quote unquote earned as the number 17 overall pick in the first round there’s a reason that they guaranteed contracts in the first round guys and that is because these guys were a solid piece that they know that typically are guys who hit and they literally are the ones who got all the work in right they’re the ones who did all the work and they got to the first round and I look it’s admirable what don’t don’t knock LeBron because I think that he would do the same thing we would all as parents wish to do the same thing that we could have we want to have that type of control in our kids’ lives if we could make it to where our kid could get an $8 million contract for four years as a 19-year-old starting as a 19-year-old have at least four years guaranteed to him in the NBA then we’ do it it’s just that there’s the other guy who’s sitting there going what about me and that’s the that’s the sad part all right we’ll take a break we’ll come back we’ve got more to go right the corner
